Before throwing an item into the drum, you must carefully study its label. The tag contains all the recommendations for caring for the product, with washing symbols and a tumble dry icon. By deciphering the symbols, you can understand which program to wash clothes in correctly, and whether it is allowed to dry them in automatic mode.

Description of drying symbols

Not all items can be machine dried. Automatic drying is contraindicated for some products. Therefore, before throwing clothes into the drum, carefully study the signs on the tag.

The image of a crossed out washing machine on the label means that automatic drying and spinning of items is prohibited.

Let's figure out what icons are found on clothing tags. Let's tell you what meaning the images carry.

• Drawing of a washing machine. The product can be wrung out and dried automatically.
• An automatic machine with a horizontal line drawn underneath it. This icon indicates the need for gentle drying and spinning.
• A washing machine with two lines drawn underneath it. Only gentle spinning and drying of items is allowed.
• A machine with a dot in the center. Indicates that clothes can only be dried at a low temperature.
• An image of a washing machine with a couple of dots in the center. Allows drying of products at medium temperature.
• The automatic machine symbol with three dots in the middle informs about the possibility of drying at the maximum degree.
• A white rectangle with an even outline. This icon allows items to be dried automatically.
• Crossed out rectangle. Prohibits drying the product in a machine.
• Rectangle symbol with a curved line on top. Only vertical drying is possible.
• A square in which 3 vertical lines are drawn. The sign allows you to dry things in a machine, but without spinning.
• A square with a horizontal line inside. Informs about the need to dry products only in a horizontal position.
• A square with two diagonal lines drawn in the left corner. The sign allows drying only in the shade.

Having found one of the described symbols on the label of your favorite dress, strictly follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. If only horizontal drying is allowed, lay the wet product on the table, but under no circumstances hang it on a rope. If you are advised to dry your laundry in the shade, keep it away from direct sunlight.

Symbols dedicated to washing

It is equally important to understand how the manufacturer recommends washing clothes. Is soaking or boiling things allowed, what should the water temperature be? The corresponding symbols are always on the product label. Let us describe each designation.

• Crossed out basin with water. Informs that the item cannot be exposed to contact with liquid: soak, wash, rinse, and, especially, boil. Only dry cleaning is possible.
• The symbol of a bowl of water allows for washing, soaking, and rinsing.
• A basin with one dot inside or the number 30. You can wash the item both by hand and in a machine, in water up to 30°C.
• A basin with two dots or the number 40. Gentle washing in water not hotter than 40°C is allowed.
• A basin with three dots is a sign of manual and automatic washing at a temperature of 50°C.
• A pelvis with one horizontal line drawn under it. Symbol of gentle washing. In this case, it is important to choose the minimum spin speed.
• A basin with two horizontal lines under it indicates the need to wash clothes on a delicate cycle in plenty of water.
• Pelvis with the image of a palm. Only hand washable in water up to 30°C, with minimal friction. Spinning is prohibited.

It is important not to neglect the recommendations presented on the label. If you wash and dry something incorrectly once, you can ruin it forever. Therefore, before cleaning for the first time, carefully study the product tag.
