How is cotton marked on a washing machine?
There are SM models, the designations on the panels of which are either not translated into Russian, or are generally presented not with inscriptions, but with schematic symbols. Some of them may never be used in everyday life, but you need to find the “Cotton” icon on the washing machine, because every wardrobe is full of things made of cotton or blended fabric. What does this designation look like?

It is worth noting that more and more imported washing machines are acquiring signatures above or below the images on the control panel, which will gradually reduce all the difficulties associated with this to nothing. In the meantime, when searching for a program, you should focus on the image of a cotton boll or a cotton cloud on a stick. Such a sign is intuitive, since it does not evoke any associations other than cotton, but this is the purpose of schematic images.
Because cotton is so widely used in the textile industry, cotton fabrics vary greatly in composition, structure and other characteristics. As a result, different cotton items may require completely different washing settings. In this regard, each machine has, on average, about 4 programs for washing cotton laundry. As a rule, they differ from each other in temperature and are selected depending on how dense the product is, how serious the contamination is, and what color the item is.
How does the cotton washing program work? It includes three stages: washing, rinsing and spinning. Cotton products are usually washed in a large amount of water, since cotton absorbs much more water than synthetics (it’s not for nothing that cotton wool is made from it).Accordingly, the spin cycle is also always intense; you should not be afraid of it, because natural fabrics are unusually durable and high speeds are not a hindrance to them. Due to the density of the fabric, several rinsing cycles are used. SM with the Fuzzi Logic system themselves determine the number of rinses and the amount of product. The rinse water is not heated to save energy.
Attention! High temperatures are unacceptable for colored items and clothes that are prone to shrinkage.
Do not forget that hot water causes rapid wear of fabrics, so it is not suitable for every wardrobe item. In addition, if things are not heavily soiled, there is no need to waste time and electricity on heating.
Popular program “Cotton Eco”
Most often, the eco-mode for cotton is found in German and Korean-made washing machines. It is very popular among users and is in great demand. The name eco denotes significant savings in resources when washing with this program. However, the quality of washing remains high, and things are washed very efficiently.
- The water temperature automatically takes the value 60 degrees, but the user can lower it as much as necessary.
- The cycle time is also set automatically, but may vary depending on certain factors. The more additional functions the user activates and the higher the water temperature is set, the longer the laundry will take to wash.
- The mode can be deactivated at any time, say, if you launched it by mistake or changed your mind.
With the program you can combine intensive wash, timer, time saving and soaking.
