Is something really broken?

If your equipment suddenly freezes during the operating cycle, then this is not yet a reason to call a service center specialist. Often, the reason for this behavior is hidden in a simple software failure, which could occur due to a sharp surge in power supply, or a spontaneous blackout in a house or apartment. To fix this, you just need to restart the dishwasher. What should I do to reboot the PMM?

Open the Bosch dishwasher door slightly so that you can easily access the buttons on the control panel.

Do not lean too close to the wash chamber when opening the door - hot steam can cause serious burns.

Press the "Start" button until the "Active" indicator goes off. In a situation where you need to stop an active wash, you need to hold down the “Start” button until the indicator goes out, indicating that the dishwasher is currently active.Both actions should work both in a situation when the machine is busy washing, and in a situation when the PMM display shows a work cycle that has never been selected before.
Wait about a minute so that all the waste liquid has time to drain down the drain. If you do not wait for the drain to drain, then when you open the door, water may spill out onto the floor. In a situation where the Bosch dishwasher was running at maximum power, wait a couple of minutes so that the water has time to go down the drain.
Press the “Start” button again if you can start a new wash. After the operating cycle is completed and all the waste liquid has gone down the drain, you can reactivate the PMM. After such a system reboot, you can simply press the "Start" button to activate a new work cycle.
Press and hold the Start button for about three seconds to reset the dishwasher. On the control panel, this key may also be called “Reset” or “Reset for three seconds.” Everything described should correct the freezing of the equipment, since after these manipulations the equipment will clear the specified settings and start the working cycle all over again.
In some dishwasher models, you will have to wait until “00:01” remains on the display with the remaining time, and then go to “00:00”. After this, you can turn off and turn on the equipment again to activate a new sink.
When the device reboots, press the Power and Start keys, which may be necessary instead of holding the keys down for a few seconds.

Typical problems that cause PMM to freeze

Rebooting household appliances does not always fix the freeze. To understand what to do if restarting the Bosch system did not help, you need to know all the possible causes of the malfunction that may interfere with the normal functioning of the device. The main list is not that short.

Damage to the pump. Perhaps the pump does not receive signals from the PMM control module, and therefore does not drain the waste liquid. In this situation, the dishwasher will run but will not drain.
Control module malfunction. The control board, a kind of “brain” of the unit, which issues commands to all key components of the PMM, could have broken down. The wiring of the node could also be damaged, preventing instructions from being transmitted.
Failure of the water level sensor. If the pressure switch is damaged, it may either not transmit information about the current water level in the washing chamber at all, or transmit incorrect data. Because of this, the dishwasher control module will not transmit an order to drain water into the sewer.
Incorrect installation of the Bosch dishwasher. If you install household appliances incorrectly, without maintaining the level, this can also negatively affect the operation of the device.
Incorrect drain hose connection. Another malfunction associated with errors when installing the PMM. Due to the “siphon effect”, the water does not go down the drain, but goes back into the washing chamber of the machine, which is why the pump does not stop pumping out the waste liquid.
Drain clogged. Also, a clogged drain system may be to blame, causing the pump to either be unsuccessful or very slow to pump out water and drain it into the sewer through a garbage plug.
Activation of the Aquastop protective system.If the device detects a leak, it will either stop working, displaying error E15 on the display, or simply automatically activate the pump to begin removing water.
Control panel problems. Also, the reason may be hidden in a faulty control panel, which may simply stop responding to user commands. To fix this you will have to contact a specialist, unless of course you have the skills to repair electronic boards.

Checking communications

First of all, you should not rush to reload the Bosch dishwasher, but check that the installation is correct. This is due to the fact that household appliances are very sensitive to even the slightest distortion of the housing. That is why the equipment must be installed strictly level, placing it on a flat and hard floor. To complete the installation, you need to use the adjustable legs, which will allow the machine to be level.

Next, you should check the sewer line. The drain hose must be located at a distance of 50 centimeters from the floor level so that the liquid does not return to the washing chamber. How to do this correctly?

Unscrew the drain hose from the PMM body.
Check the corrugation for blockages.
Reconnect the drain hose, fixing it at the required height, plus, with a bend.

The drain hose should be no longer than two meters, otherwise the pump will face increased load.

If everything is in order with the installation and connection of the drain hose, then the problem may be an internal blockage. To fix it, follow the instructions.

Unplug your Bosch dishwasher.
Open the hatch door.
Remove all baskets from the washing chamber.
Locate the drain filter, which is located at the very bottom of the bin.
Remove it and clean it of food debris and other contaminants, and then rinse it under a powerful stream of hot water.
There is a shallow hole behind the filter from which you need to remove accumulated water using a small sponge.
Additionally, it is worth removing the protective cover and washing the impeller, which often becomes clogged with foreign objects.
Install the drain filter into its seat.

If even after these manipulations the “home assistant” cannot complete the work cycle, then you need to check the pump. How should I proceed?

Disconnect the machine from all communications.
Disconnect the inlet and drain hoses.
Place the equipment on its side.
Remove the fixing bolts from the bottom panel of the case, and then remove the bottom.
Unhook the drain pipe from the pump, first releasing its clamps.
Remove the pump holding bolts.
Remove the element from the Bosch dishwasher.

All that remains is to examine the pump for damage and contamination. Remove any debris that got into the unit during operation and reinstall it according to the instructions in reverse order. If the pump is faulty, then you cannot repair it, you can only buy a new one.

Dirt in the level sensor

Another common cause of freezing is a clogged pressure switch pipe. Due to contamination, the water level sensor may transmit incorrect data to the PMM control module, therefore normal operation of the dishwasher will be impossible. When the pressure switch tube is clogged, accurate measurements of water in the washing chamber become impossible. Fortunately, the fitting is easy to clean yourself, without calling a technician. You just need to blow it out or rinse it under a powerful stream of tap water. You can find the level sensor in a plastic box located near the pump.

Electronic module problem

Finally, we cannot exclude the possibility that all the problems arose due to a faulty PMM control module. If there is a problem with the “brain” of the system, the dishwasher will freeze during the operating cycle, and the keys on the control panel will stop working, ignoring any user actions. In this case, it will not be possible to restart the machine without unplugging the power cord.

When a person presses a particular key, he presses on a certain area of the control board. If household appliances do not respond to user actions, then either the track is damaged, or the triacs on the board are oxidized, or the buttons are stuck. Any of the situations described requires complex repairs.

The “home assistant” control board is almost the most expensive element of the entire Bosch dishwasher, which can cost as much as a new dishwasher. If you have experience working with electronics, and the manufacturer’s warranty on the machine has already expired, then you can try to repair the part yourself. The procedure should be as follows:

unplug the machine;
open the washing chamber door;
unscrew the bolts at the end of the door;
remove the inner part of the door;
disconnect the wiring from the control module, and also remove the fasteners that secure it;

Be sure to take a few photos of the correct wire connections so you have an example on hand for reassembly.
