Loading an Electrolux dishwasher
To achieve high quality washing, you need to load your Electrolux dishwasher correctly. This means not only the proper arrangement of dishes in levels, but also the addition of cleaning agent, salt, and rinse aid. Let's figure out how to place plates, pots, mugs, where and when to add cleaning compounds.
Adding the necessary funds
The first thing a dishwasher user needs to take care of is adding household chemicals to special tanks. The machine will not work properly without salt and detergent. In fact, there is nothing complicated in this process.
Dishwasher salt is sold in any hypermarket or household chemical store. The reservoir for it is located at the bottom of the working chamber. To get to the compartment, you need to pull out the lower PMM basket. Next, unscrew the cap and pour the substance into the compartment up to the mark.
There is no need to add salt before each cycle; usually a filled tank is enough for 20-40 washes, depending on the PMM model.
Detergent must be added with each load. The dishwasher dispenser is located on the machine door. It has two departments - main and auxiliary. The first is for powder, tablets or capsules, and the second is for mouthwash.
It is important to purchase quality cleaning products. Which form to choose: tablets, powder or gel is up to you. The main thing is that these are non-aggressive, soft compounds developed specifically for PMM.
Thus, before placing the dishes, be sure to check whether there is salt in the special compartment.Modern Electrolux models are equipped with indicators that inform you when the tank is full. Next, load the detergent mixture into the dispenser on the door. After this, you can start laying out the cutlery.
Preparing kitchen utensils for washing
The next step is to prepare the cutlery for loading. Before placing dishes in the PMM hopper, be sure to remove any remaining food from it. This will protect the drain system of the machine from blockages and improve the quality of washing.
It is important to ensure that there are no stuck pieces of food, fruit seeds, etc. on the dishes loaded into the machine.
You can clean dishes using a special spatula or a regular sponge. If the food has already hardened, it is better to rinse the plates. Dried pieces of food are very difficult to wash off.
Some Electrolux dishwashers have a pre-rinse mode. It helps a lot if you do not wash the dishes immediately after eating, but save them until the evening or even a couple of days. In this case, it is recommended to run this program before the main one to improve the quality of washing.
Where to put the plates, glasses, mugs?
A very important point is the location of cutlery in the PMM baskets. Usually there are two main trays for dishes. There is also a separate container for spoons, forks and knives, and in some models - a holder for glasses.
Mugs, glasses and glasses must be placed bottom up. This way, water will pour inside, wash the walls and flow down unhindered. The horizontal position of the cups is unacceptable, otherwise the machine will not be able to wash them.
The upper basket of the dishwasher is provided for mugs. If the Electrolux machine has a special holder for glasses, then they are fixed in it with the stem up.It is important that the glasses do not touch each other, otherwise the fragile glass may break in the process.
Plates can be placed both below and above. Here, much will depend on the size and degree of soiling of the dishes. For example, in the upper basket you can place:
- tureens;
- gravy boats;
- broth bowls;
- bowls;
- oilers;
- dessert plates;
- tea saucers;
- salt shakers, sugar bowls.
It is also recommended to place plastic dishes on top. The farther it is from the heating element, the lower the chances of its deformation. Such devices cannot be washed in high-temperature programs.
The lower basket contains:
- large diameter plates;
- deep tureens;
- salad bowls;
- frying pans;
- stewpans;
- pots.
It is better to place large plates at the edges of the tray, and smaller ones - closer to the middle. This will make it easier for the water to “reach” the mugs in the upper basket. The dishes should be placed “facing” the center of the washing chamber, so that the saucers do not touch each other.
The larger the gap between the plates, the better they will be washed.
Do not overload the dishwasher and fill the chamber “to the brim.” In this case, it will not be possible to thoroughly rinse the cutlery, and the cycle will still have to be repeated with less cutlery.
How to wash knives, spoons and forks?
For small cutlery, any Electrolux dishwasher has a separate tray. You can arrange knives, spoons and forks in the container freely, alternating them with each other. Because if you put the spoons together, one inside the other, they won’t wash well. Knives should be placed with the blades down.
The cutlery tray is located on top of the washing chamber. The placement of spoons and forks in such a container is horizontal.This saves space and leaves more space for the main baskets.
It is not recommended to put knives with ceramic blades in the dishwasher. As a result of prolonged high-temperature treatment, they may become dull. Also, do not load wooden utensils, forks and spoons with wooden handles into the appliance - they will swell with prolonged contact with water.
Arranging large dishes
The lower basket of the machine is used to place large dishes. This includes pots, saucepans, and frying pans. If the size of the washing chamber allows, you can even load a baking sheet.
It is recommended to wash large-sized dishes separately from fragile items - crystal glasses, glass and porcelain plates, etc. To properly clean pots and pans, the most intensive mode is required, which is not suitable for glass and porcelain. That is why separate loading of such cutlery is necessary.
Pans and baking sheets should be placed sideways. Pots and saucepans are placed upside down or at an angle. This will ensure free access of water to all cutlery in the washing chamber.
Not all large dishes can be loaded into the machine. Teflon-coated pans and pots must not be washed in a PMM. Prolonged high-temperature treatment can damage Teflon and impair its properties.
When a frying pan or saucepan has a removable handle, be sure to remove it before loading the dishes into the wash compartment. This will save space inside the bunker. Devices with a handle should be placed so that it does not touch the walls of the PMM.
If pots cover the entire lower basket, water access to the upper tray will be limited.Therefore, in this case it is better to leave it empty and run the “Half Load” program. This mode will help reduce water and kilowatt consumption, reduce cycle times, while ensuring high quality washing.
Baking trays should be placed from below, sideways, along the edges of the basket. If you lay them horizontally, water will not flow to the top tray. This does not apply to machines equipped with sprinklers around the entire perimeter of the washing chamber.
Loading other items
What other kitchen utensils can be washed in the dishwasher? It is allowed to load ladles, colanders, skimmers, spatulas, egg cutters, garlic presses, graters, etc. into the PMM. They can be placed at any level where there is free space.
It is allowed to load cutting boards (any except wooden) into the Electrolux PMM. They are placed vertically. Plastic utensils can be placed in the upper basket, away from the heating element located below.
