Review of built-in washing machines

Built-in washing machineMore and more attention has been paid to the design of premises and furniture. At the same time, no kitchen can do without household appliances, which should fit perfectly into this design. That is why manufacturers offer built-in appliances that will be hidden from prying eyes behind the beautiful facades of the kitchen unit. One such example is a built-in washing machine, we will talk about it, conduct a review and offer several important selection criteria.

Features and types of such machines

The first question that most people have when choosing a washing machine is: how does a built-in automatic washing machine differ from a regular automatic washing machine? In terms of functionality, this machine is no different. Its important feature is the low noise level. This is explained by the fact that the built-in machine is rigidly fixed in the furniture body, which reduces vibration and noise. The second feature of such machines is that in the lower part of their body there is a recess for the baseboard.

Built-in automatic machines are divided into two types:

  • machines with the ability to build;
  • fully built-in washing machines.

The first type assumes that the top panel of the machine is removed and replaced with a countertop from a kitchen set. In some models, a metal cover is placed between the countertop and the top of the machine, which prevents moisture or grease from entering the washer panel. Instead of such a cover, foam rubber can be used as insulation. As for the drum hatch and control panel, they are not covered with anything and remain visible, so it turns out that it is possible to partially integrate the machine.This type of machine can also be used as a regular washing machine.

Fully built-in washing machine models are completely hidden behind furniture facades. To do this, furniture door hinges are attached to the front of the machine. In this case, the washing machine itself is installed on the floor, its bottom panel being covered by the cabinet base. The height of the machine can be adjusted using the legs; how to do this is written in this article.

Advantages and disadvantages

Built-in washing machineBuilt-in appliances, including washing machines, have several advantages:

  • This technique does not interfere with creating a room design of any color, even if the kitchen is blue or lilac, the white machine will not spoil the interior, since it will hide behind the facades of the furniture;
  • built-in appliances make it possible to assemble all the necessary appliances within the kitchen, which makes the housewife’s work easier;
  • Built-in household appliances, as a rule, are equipped with additional safety systems; in washing machines, this is protection against leaks, foaming and drum imbalance.

This technique is not without its drawbacks:

  • a washing machine of this type costs a little more than a regular one, but sometimes such household appliances are worth paying a little extra for;
  • The choice of models that differ in functionality is limited.

What to look for when choosing a machine

When choosing a built-in automatic machine, the consumer is interested in many of its characteristics. First of all, the characteristics responsible for the quality of washing, the technical parameters by which its reliability is determined, as well as the cost and manufacturer.

Undoubtedly, the washing parameters will be the most important when choosing, because this is what the machine is purchased for. These include:

  1. Maximum loading rate of the machine.It means how many kilograms of dry laundry can be put into the drum in one cycle. Here you should focus on the number of family members. For a standard family of 3-4 people, a washing machine with a load of 5 kg will be enough, if the family is large and there are also small children. Then you can think about a machine with a load of 8 kg.

    Important! Machines with heavy loads are large. Therefore, if you need a narrow built-in machine, then most likely you will have to sacrifice kilograms of loaded laundry.

  2. Washing class, which is indicated in the machine’s passport. Most washing machines have wash class A.
  3. No less important for the consumer is how the machine spins the laundry. The spin class informs about the efficiency of the spin. A washing machine that spins clothes well has a spin class A. Class B or C have machines that spin clothes well.
  4. Washing modes (programs). This parameter is also important when choosing a washing machine. And here it’s worth thinking carefully about which modes are really required. Modern models can have more than two dozen programs, but are they all needed? Is it worth overpaying?

Pay attention to such characteristics of the machine as the noise level, so that after purchase it does not disappoint you with its “whistle”. The narrow built-in machine makes the most noise.

Among the technical characteristics that pay attention to are:

  • Dimensions are the most important characteristic, because the built-in washing machine must optimally fit into the interior of the kitchen, and this depends on its size. That is why you need to first select a car, and only then make a kitchen set for it. The standard dimensions of the machine are approximately 80x60x60cm. There are also compact models, narrow, but at the same time the weight of the loaded laundry is less.The depth of such a machine is about 40 cm.

    Note! A narrow washing machine with a depth of 40-45 cm can be hidden in a kitchen unit, even if the machine is free-standing and does not have special fastenings for the door.

  • energy consumption is a parameter that determines the amount of energy consumed to wash 1 kg of laundry. Class A++ machines are considered the most energy efficient. But at the same time they are more expensive. It's up to you to decide whether it's worth saving on this.
  • control type. According to this parameter, machines are divided into: mechanical and electronic. In mechanical ones, you need to turn the knob to the selected program. In electronic machines, the washing machine itself determines the washing mode after the type of laundry you have specified. Electronically controlled machines are slightly more expensive, but their energy consumption is lower.
  • additional functions - these include functions of delayed washing, drying, refreshing and others. The more such functions, the more expensive the built-in washing machine will cost.

The brand of the washing machine is of no small importance when purchasing, which in turn affects its cost. Household appliances assembled in Germany are considered to be of the highest quality. (Miele, Bosch, Hansa, Kaiser, Age) and Sweden (Electrolux). Having looked at the rating of washing machines, you will see that the third place among high-quality washing machines is occupied by Italian-made machines (Ariston, Zanussi, Indesit, Ardo, Kandy).

Important! The rating of washing machines is compiled in accordance with consumer reviews.

Washing machines of the Turkish brand Beko were ranked only in fifth place, behind the Italian Siltal machines. The well-known American Whirlpool washing machines also entered the rating, taking sixth place, pleasing the consumer with a low price.They are followed by Japanese-made Panasonic machines.

Built-in Korean-made washing machines from brands such as LG, Samsung, Daewoo were also included in Washing machine rating, but took only eighth position.
