Narrow top-loading washing machines up to 40 cm
Top-loading washing machines have attracted the attention of consumers not so much because of the type of loading, but rather because of their unusual dimensions.
In conditions of miniature rooms, such washing machines have become the best way to save space. Moreover, such washing machines have everything you need for high-quality washing. Let's take a closer look at top-loading washing machines up to 40 cm wide.
Dimensions
Top loading machines are mostly the same size. And in our opinion, it is impossible to say that among them there are full-size or narrow ones. It will be more accurate if they are all classified as narrow models, because their dimensions are:
- width – 40 cm;
- depth -56-65 cm;
- height – 81-90 cm.
Important! The smallest width of vertical machines is 40 cm, so you shouldn’t look for machines with a width of 35 and especially 30 cm. Such narrow units have not yet appeared on sale. When talking about 35 cm, they most likely mean the depth of the front washing machines.
Capacity, functionality and efficiency
Let's now talk about the technical features of top-loading washing machines. In addition to limited size variations, vertical machines also have limited drum loading options. Most of all, the market offers units with a capacity of 5 and 5.5 kg. The maximum load of such machines is 7 kg; there are units with a load of 6 kg. And this is understandable, because a narrowed body is simply not able to accommodate a large tank and drum, and it does not matter whether it is top or front loaded.
As for the range of functions, vertical washing machines are not inferior to front-facing ones in this regard. They also have functions for washing delicate items and duvets. Additional functions include: steam washing, light ironing and others.
For your information! Users who have a top-loading washing machine note that the location of the hatch for loading laundry is convenient; there is no need to bend over.
Spinning in machines of this type is carried out at different speeds, it all depends on the manufacturer and model of the particular machine. The spin speed in most cases varies from 700 to 1000 rpm. But there are also ultra-high-speed narrow models with spin speeds of 1200 and 1300 rpm.
The energy consumption class of a vertical machine is not lower than A, there are models with classes A++ and A+++. The washing class of this equipment is only A. Therefore, these machines wash perfectly. Machines of this type can be equipped with a display and have touch controls. The only difference from narrow frontal machines is the lack of drying. Until we came across similar models, top-loading machines do not use this function.
Reliability and price
Another important issue when choosing a 40 cm wide vertical washing machine is reliability and price. The reliability of a washing machine primarily depends on:
- countries of assembly;
- components.
Important! A brand is not an indicator of reliability. For example, Bosch washing machines are assembled not only in Germany, but also in Russia, China, and Poland, and therefore such units operate differently.
One thing is clear: the more expensive the equipment, the more likely it is to be more reliable.But not in all cases, because the price can be inflated when the washing machine has a lot of additional functions, a touch screen and other modern features. The more such “chips” there are, the less reliable the unit may be and its repair will be more difficult.
Therefore, when choosing reliable equipment, you should pay attention to electronics. In general, the price for narrow top-loading models is no different from front-loading equipment. And in terms of reliability, they are approximately the same, we repeat once again - it all depends on the country of assembly. The best valued washing machines are those assembled in Germany, Sweden, Poland, and Slovakia. The average price of top-loading washing machines is about $300.
Review of the best
Let's move on to the review of vertical machines, selecting the five most popular models. The main selection criteria for compiling this rating were: price, functionality and reliability of the equipment. So, the top five are:
Electrolux EWT 1377 VOW is a narrow European-assembled washing machine with dimensions (WxDxH) of 40 x 60 x 89 cm. At the same time, its load is 7 kg of dry laundry, it is equipped with the latest technologies. In addition to standard washing modes, there is a stain removal program. Anti-crease mode, as well as steam supply during washing. The machine costs about $500. That is why she was given only sixth place.
The peculiarity of the model is the smooth opening of the drum doors, as well as the presence of drum lighting. You can delay starting the wash cycle for up to 20 hours. The laundry is spun perfectly, because the drum rotation speed is 1300 rpm. Child protection is present, but leak protection is only partial.
AEG L 56106 TL is a German-assembled machine with a load capacity of up to 6 kg.Its width, like all vertical machines, is 40 cm, but its height is 89 cm. The machine is energy efficient, class A+++. It has a variety of washing modes, but it spins clothes only at 1000 rpm. The advantage of the model is the smooth opening of the drum flaps and the availability of parking. You will have to pay a little more than $350 for this machine, which is why it only ranks fifth in the ranking.
Candy EVOT 10071 D is a narrow washing machine, the dimensions of which are (WxDxH) - 40 x 60 x 85 cm. The load of this washing machine is not inferior to the previous one - 7 kg. But the spin speed is only 1000 rpm, but this is quite enough. The control module is programmed with 18 washing modes, including a stain removal program. This model has many positive reviews. Among the shortcomings, a weak drive belt is noted, which some users broke already in the first year of operation. The price for this model is about $230.
IGNIS LTE 8027 is a top-loading washing machine with excellent build quality, which is why the machine was awarded third place. Its dimensions are (WxDxH) - 40 x 60 x 90 cm. The machine has only 10 washing modes, a load of 5 kg of dry laundry and a spin speed of 800 rpm. But believe me, for a small family of three people this is quite enough for everyday laundry. This machine does not have a full-fledged protection system, but it costs about $210.
Electrolux EWT 0862 TDW - this narrow top-loading washing machine received second place in the rating. The volume of the drum is 6 kg of dry laundry, and the dimensions (WxDxH) are 40 x 60 x 85 cm. The number of programs is 14, among them there is a program for washing jeans, delicate washing, washing shirts and others.The machine is protected from children, but only partially from leaks. The digital display shows all the necessary information. The price for this model is about $220.
Candy EVOGT 13072 D - this washing machine deserves first place in our ranking, as it has an optimal price-quality ratio. The drum loading is 7 kg, spinning is 1300 rpm. The dimensions are practically no different from competitors (WxDxH) - 40 x 63 x 88 cm. 18 washing modes will allow you to wash even the most delicate laundry. There is a quick wash mode (30 minutes), just like in the machines listed above. There is also child protection. You can postpone washing for 24 hours. Despite the Chinese assembly, the machine is in demand; its price is about $260.
So, top-loading washing machines have a standard width of 40 cm. Narrower units with a width of 35 or 30 cm simply do not exist. From a technical point of view, there is no need for them; their manufacture is impractical. Even among front-facing machines there are no ones that have a depth of 30 cm, the depth super narrow models – 33 cm, but mostly these are 35 cm machines. The only small-sized machine whose depth is even less than 30 cm is the Daewoo Electronics DWD-CV701 PC wall-mounted machine, which we wrote about in one of the articles on our website.
