Narrow washing machine - reviews

reviews of narrow washing machinesReviews about narrow washing machines are very different and there are a lot of them. Even without really trying, you can find a hundred other opinions about these washing machines. However, our task was to find the real opinions of the most experienced users or washing machine repair specialists in general, and this is what came out of it.

Hotpoint Ariston VMUF 501 B

Vladimir Sevastyanov, Nizhny Novgorod

I am a washing machine repairman with 20 years of experience. There were so many washing machines that I never had to open. Sometimes you come across faults that you spend several days looking for, and then think about how best to fix them. I am writing this review because one of the large network companies selling equipment has offered Hotpoint Ariston VMUF 501 B washing machines, which are of very low quality, at a big discount. But for our man, they will take it as long as it’s cheap. By the way, its price is only about 230 dollars, by modern standards, it’s not money at all for a brand like Hotpoint Ariston.

So, let's get to the point. Over the past 1.5 months, five buyers of these machines have contacted my workshop. Everyone says that they were “taken for a ride” with warranty repairs, but this is not the only thing they have in common.

  • Everyone bought Hotpoint Ariston VMUF 501 B machines and washed them for 2 to 5 months.

It’s surprising that none of the five clients’ Hotpoint Ariston VMUF 501 B narrow washing machine worked for even six months.

  • Three out of five had bearing failures, one had a burnt-out control board, and another one had a burnt-out heating element. The latter got off happily, since in the first four cases the repairs were very expensive.
  • None of the clients violated the terms of use.

Hotpoint Ariston VMUF 501 BThe first opening of the case and a quick inspection showed that such machines do not have FPS. I can’t say for sure whether this was provided for by the design of this model or whether a batch of washing machines without FPS just arrived, but the fact remains a fact. One of the clients had a control board burn out, most likely due to the lack of FPS. For a modern automatic washing machine, the lack of an interference filter is a significant drawback.

Next we had to deal with the bearings. The tank of the Hotpoint Ariston VMUF 501 B washing machine is non-separable, so before change a bearing in a washing machine Hotpoint Ariston, I had to cut it down. This is not the first time I have encountered such a difficulty, so the operation to transform a non-separable tank into a collapsible one was successful. When I got to the bearings, it turned out that they were almost dry, one could say that there was no lubrication at all, it is not surprising that they soon collapsed.

The most interesting thing is that the bearings were made of some unusually soft alloy. I took out the damaged bearing and quite easily bent it with my fingers so that it turned out to be a figure eight. I don't remember ever encountering something like this. I installed normal bearings and FPS from another Ariston and gave the washing machine to the clients. Those who came in with a burnt heating element received a washing machine the next day. I also installed the FPS with them and replaced the temperature sensor along with the heating element.

The moral of this story is this: don’t be fooled by advertising, don’t buy washing machines of dubious quality, and if you buy any equipment, carefully fill out the warranty card and make sure that it contains all the necessary seals and signatures.If you encounter a similar situation, you should not run to the workshop to repair the machine at your own expense. Hire a lawyer, go to court and defend your consumer rights there, because who better than buyers will teach a careless seller to comply with consumer protection laws.

The day before yesterday they brought this washing machine to my service center. I calculated how much the repairs would cost, and the amount came out normal. This evening I will make my client happy; I think he will choose to buy a new car, since paying almost a hundred dollars for repairs when you paid a little more than two hundred for the entire washing machine is unreasonable. With this review I would like to warn other buyers against purchasing the Hotpoint Ariston VMUF 501 B. It’s rubbish, not a machine, the assembly is terrible, and the parts are clearly from underground China!

Candy GOYE 105LS-07

Elena, Tver

I can consider myself an experienced user of automatic washing machines, having owned a total of seven different washing machines. Candy GOYE 105LS-07 is my eighth automatic washing machine. I chose the machine consciously. I needed to:

  • the washing machine could spin clothes at a speed of at least 1000 rpm, since practice has shown that

    Candy GOYE 105LS-07

    satisfactory spinning of cotton items at a lower drum rotation speed is not possible;

  • the washing machine could hold at least 5 kg of clothes;
  • the machine had a display, preferably an informative display and clear controls;
  • the machine should be narrow so that it can easily fit in our small bathroom;
  • the washing machine should be relatively reliable and have many positive reviews from users.

Candy GOYE 105LS-07 meets all the above requirements, however, I still discovered some shortcomings during almost 7 months of use and I hasten to share my thoughts with you. First of all, what bothered me was that you can’t put less than 1.5-2 kg of laundry in the machine.

If you put in less than 1.5-2 kg of clothes, it washes normally, but during the spin cycle it either freezes or simply spins the drum idly, and the laundry remains completely wet.

Candy GOYE 105LS-07 has too large a gap between the edge of the drum and the cuff. It turns out that the cuff covers this space very poorly. As a result, such small things as socks and panties are pulled into the tank quite easily, and then it is problematic to pull them back out. Once we even had a child’s T-shirt sucked into the tank. We quickly found a way out of the situation; now we wash all small items in a special bag, although I note that I did not encounter such problems when I had washing machines of other brands.

Also, in the first month of use, I discovered that the washing machine tore the duvet cover. It's good that it was an old duvet cover and not, for example, a new blouse. The husband reached into the drum with his hands, very carefully felt it from the inside and found several metal burrs, which he immediately removed with a file and sandpaper. Now my washing machine doesn’t spoil things, but as I read on the forums, I wasn’t the only one who had a similar problem. Well, I told you everything I thought was necessary, draw your own conclusions!

Three years ago I learned how to repair automatic washing machines myself. First, I repaired our first Indesit washing machine, I suffered for a long time. Then I made a Siemens machine from my mother-in-law, and I did it much faster and more confidently.Now I’m making our new Candy GOYE 105LS-07 washing machine. As it turned out, the temperature sensor burned out. This surprises me, since this is the second thermal sensor I have installed on it over the past year. I talked to the experts on the forums, and it turned out that the temperature sensor is a sore spot on Kandy washing machines, “live and learn.”

Indesit EWUD4103

Yana, ProkopyevskIndesit EWUD4103

We have a specific niche in our bathroom, left to us as a legacy by the workers. During the first renovation, we decided to lay it with bricks and seal it with tiles. So everything stood there until the next renovation. On the eve of a major renovation in the bathroom, I had the idea to return the niche to service by installing a washing machine in it. The problem was that the husband could only determine its length and width, and the depth was somehow forgotten. As a result, my husband assured me that the niche was no less than 40 cm deep, and I seriously thought about putting a narrow washing machine there.

Either we made a mistake somewhere in the calculations, or perhaps our memory failed us, but as a result, when my husband dug into the niche, it turned out that it was only 30 cm deep. We really didn’t want to change our plans, so we started looking hard for a washing machine with a depth of 30 centimeters, but as you understand, we couldn’t find such machines, they simply didn’t exist. And then, unexpectedly luck, a new model Indesit EWUD4103 came out and was not at all expensive.

The advertisement promised that its body was only 30 cm deep, but in reality it turned out that taking into account the handle it was 33 cm, but that suited us.

The quality of the washing machine was also excellent. It washes perfectly, holds 4 kg of laundry, which is not enough, but you can live with it. It spins at a speed of 1000 rpm - generally great. There are a lot of functions and washing programs.We were very pleased with the purchase and saved space in the bathroom by placing the machine in a niche.

Sergey Emelyanov, Rostov-on-Don

The washing machine is great. I bought it recently, but already felt that it was much better than my 4 previous ones. I especially liked the selection of washing programs. The machine has only the necessary programs, no junk. Now I’ve taken a fresh look at Indesit brand washing machines and in the future I will never say that they are of poor quality and clumsy, but just recently that’s exactly what I thought.

In conclusion, we note that reviews from experienced users and specialists about narrow washing machines are very mixed. It all depends on the specific brand and model. One thing is for sure, reviews from knowledgeable people are mostly informative, they know exactly what they are writing about, which means there is a reason to listen to their opinion. Good luck!
