How to install a Bosch dryer?
In most cases, after purchasing a Bosch dryer, the new owner immediately has to call a specialist to connect it. But you can do this work yourself if you use the tips given in this article. This will eliminate unnecessary costs, which plays an important role for many. Where to start installing a Bosch dryer? First of all, you should choose the place where it will be located.
Where to place the Bosch dryer?
It is not for nothing that so much attention is paid to the choice of the place where the dryer will be located. After all, the installation features will depend on this. There are several placement methods:
- on top of the washer;
- in close proximity to the washing machine;
- in a special cabinet or niche;
- under the countertop or sink.
The most common option is the so-called “column”, when the dryer is installed on top of the washing machine. Then the equipment takes up less space, which is of great importance for residents of small apartments. However, it is impossible to directly install one device on another; you must strictly follow the instructions developed by the manufacturer.
- First, you need to make sure that the washing machine is equal or greater in depth than the dryer. Otherwise, the “lower tier” will not be able to withstand the load.
- Then special anti-tip caps and clamps are mounted on the body of the washing machine. Most often they are included with the dryer (if this installation method is provided). They can also be purchased separately.
- After this, the legs of the dryer are unscrewed and the caps are installed.
- The position of the device is adjusted according to the building level.
Important! It is prohibited to install the dryer in a column unless it is securely fixed.
The dryer can also be installed using wall structures, which are special slats. This option is more reliable, but is used much less frequently, since anti-tip caps look much more aesthetically pleasing. You should not install equipment without clamps, because their function is not only to protect the washing unit from vibration, but also to ensure the stability of the “upper tier”; they prevent the device from tipping over.
If for some reason the owner does not want to use the fasteners, then it is better to place the washing machine and dryer next to each other. This option is safer and easier to install, but requires additional free space. Ideal if the room has a large area or if the home has a separate room (closet, dressing room, etc.) where equipment can be placed. In this case, it is enough to bring the machine in, remove the transport bolts and level it.
It is recommended to purchase a washing machine and dryer as a pair, this will ensure that the dimensions match and will create a unified style in the room.
If you plan to install the dryer in a niche made of plasterboard, then during the renovation process you should take care of arranging a special cabinet or corner for this purpose. If possible, you can independently make a structure on two floors, where both machines will comfortably fit.
An even simpler option is to install a dryer under the kitchen countertop or sink. The main thing is to choose the right model.It is important that its dimensions match the size of the cabinet, and that the lid is removable. The kitchen is the best option for a condenser dryer. This is due to the fact that thanks to free access to the sewer system, you can easily connect the device.
In general, the procedure for installing a Bosch dryer is similar to installing a washing machine. Therefore, no special difficulties are expected. The main thing is not to forget about safety and act strictly in accordance with the rules contained in the manufacturer’s instructions.
Preparing for use of a condensation dryer
Installation of condensing dryers and heat pump appliances manufactured by Bosch is carried out in a similar way. It should be noted that the installation process for these appliances and washing machines is very similar. The only point is that the issues of connecting to the electrical network and sewage system should be approached more seriously.
Everyone decides for themselves whether to connect the drying unit to the sewer or not. But, if this is not done, then after each cycle you will have to manually drain the water from the tray. By connecting the device to the drain pipe, you can greatly simplify your life. The installation process itself is not difficult. Each model has a special hole for the hose. You can remove accumulated liquid into the toilet, sink, or general drain.
The next important point is connecting to the electrical network. The dryer can be plugged into a regular outlet or provided with a separate line from the distribution panel. The option with a ready-made outlet is simpler and more convenient, the main thing is that it is close to the chosen location. In terms of security, both of these methods are almost identical.Therefore, if the drying power is no more than 2.5 kW, then you don’t have to worry about the integrity of the wiring. A prerequisite is the presence of grounding, an RCD (16 amperes are sufficient) and a separate circuit breaker (14-16 amperes).
Do not plug a washer and dryer into the same double outlet at the same time. A heavy load can cause the outlet to overheat, causing it to heat up and short circuit.
