Miele stacked washing machine and dryer
Placing several household appliances in a small area is not an easy task. To make life easier for consumers, manufacturers, together with designers, have come up with an excellent solution to save square meters. Simply stacking your washer and dryer will give you much-needed space. Let's find out how you can install one Miele appliance on another.
How to achieve sustainability?
In such a design solution, not only the comfort of the apartment’s inhabitants and the appearance of the “column” are important, but also the stability of the entire structure. It doesn’t matter where you are going to practice this method of organizing space - in the hallway or in the pantry, in the bathroom or in the kitchen. It is much more important to calculate the load on the lower unit in advance and secure the equipment well. Otherwise, vibration from one object may negatively affect the performance of the second. There are several ways to install a dryer on a washing machine:
- use a special mount, which usually comes in one kit with the dryer;
- purchase mounting wall frames and use them to secure the dryer above the washing machine;
- install both units in a frame/niche made of plasterboard or other material.
Attention! It is strictly forbidden to place household appliances in one column without fixing them!
The upper tier must be fixed, otherwise, under the influence of vibration from below, the dryer will fall and break. You also cannot allocate the top floor for a washing machine, since it weighs much more than the dryer.The average weight of washing machines ranges from 50 to 80 kg, while for dryers it is 35-50 kg.
Important nuances
Unfortunately, you cannot take two random Miele appliances and combine them into a single design. You will need to take into account the parameters of each machine, otherwise during operation many difficulties will arise, including failure of the equipment. Therefore, first study the recommendations we offer on site preparation, unit sizes and communications connections.
Dimensions. Miele machines should be identical in depth and width. Ideal if you purchase equipment in pairs at once. If you have already purchased a washing machine, choose a dryer based on the existing characteristics or a slightly smaller one.
Communications. Be sure to check the availability of sockets, ease of connection to water supply and sewerage. You can't just put a column where you want.
Fastening. You can use any of the methods indicated in our instructions, the main thing is to prepare the fastenings before purchasing the equipment. If you are planning a niche, buy sheets of drywall, screws, profiles and other necessary materials. As an option, order a cabinet to suit the required dimensions.
Attention! For safety reasons, it is prohibited to use the units simultaneously. It is better to wait and start the devices separately - this will significantly extend their service life and protect you from unforeseen troubles.
Before purchasing, study the intricacies of specific dryers. Some Miele models need to be connected to ventilation or, if there is no ventilation duct, the hose must be connected to a window. There are condensing machines that accumulate water in a special container. The container can be emptied at a time convenient for you.If you don’t want to do this regularly, try automatically draining the condensate into the sewer.
Installation progress
You can mount the column yourself. First, check the floor in the selected area for unevenness. It is good if the devices are placed on a tiled or concrete floor that can easily support their weight. The coating should also not be slippery. The washing machine is placed at the building level. The dryer is placed on top and secured with fasteners in the form of a stand. The stand itself is placed on anti-vibration rubber pads and bolted. The dryer is installed with its legs in the provided grooves.
Then the recesses are closed from the outside with plugs. Both machines are connected to communications according to the instructions and tested in turn (for this, the intensive mode is selected to identify the slightest flaw). If the test is successfully passed, the installation of the column can be considered complete.
