How to install a Kuppersberg dishwasher
In almost all cases, installing a Kuppersberg dishwasher is an elementary process that anyone can handle, even without qualifications or special experience. This is also a good way to save the family budget, because service center technicians unreasonably inflate prices for installing PMMs. The most important thing in self-installation is to take into account all the nuances and rules in order to arrange a place for household appliances without errors and properly prepare them for work. We will tell you in detail about all the rules for installing a dishwasher yourself.
The washing machine needs a place
Organizing a place for a dishwasher is something that should be taken care of even at the stage of planning the purchase of expensive equipment. This is due to the fact that not every corner is suitable for a large-sized “home assistant”. The PMM should stand on the most flat surface possible, all the necessary communications should be laid nearby, and if we are talking about a built-in version, then it should also exactly match the dimensions of the niche in the kitchen cabinet. Here are the main points to consider when planning.
- Ready communications. This list includes a 220-volt outlet, proximity to water supply and sewerage for collecting and draining water, respectively.
It is important that the drain hose of household appliances does not exceed one and a half meters in length, otherwise the load on the pump will be excessive, which may even cause it to fail.
- Lack of heat sources. The dishwasher should not be placed next to a refrigerator or an old electric stove, which gets very hot during operation.If such a “neighborhood” of devices is allowed, this will negatively affect the PMM and seriously shorten its service life.
- No excessive vibration. This applies to situations where the dishwasher is located next to the washing machine. Any washing machine vibrates very strongly during washing and spinning, which can damage not only the dishes inside the dishwasher, but also the household appliances themselves.
- Placement in the center of the kitchen unit. This is due to the fact that built-in Kuppersberg machines must be closed with a door facade to maintain the overall design of the kitchen. If you install it at the edge, then you will also have to cover the side surface, which will cause additional costs.
Thus, you should take care of only four points in preparing the ideal place for PMM. To briefly summarize, the best place for the unit is the area to the left or right of the sink, since there is already the possibility of connecting to the water supply and sewerage system, which means half the battle is already over.
What do you need to prepare for installing the PMM?
Basically, to install equipment at home, tools are needed only to prepare communications, so in some situations you don’t need to prepare anything at all for work. But if you need to connect a built-in dishwasher with a facade hinge, then we will need:
- an adjustable wrench, with which you will need to install a tee on the water supply, if you do not already have one in the kitchen;
- Phillips screwdriver for hanging the facade.
This is about tools. With consumables, everything is also very simple, because you only need FUM tape and mounting plumbing tape, which is useful for securely fixing the drain hose.It also doesn’t hurt to check the inlet hose - it is important that it is long enough to reach the installation site of the equipment. Otherwise, you will have to either expand it or purchase a new one.
If possible, buy home hoses with the Aquastop system, which helps prevent leaks during a rupture.
Finally, pay attention to the location for the inlet hose. If it is not equipped, you will have to additionally purchase a tee to connect it to the water supply to the kitchen faucet.
We install the PMM with our own hands
The preparation stage is completed, we move on to installing the long-awaited “home assistant”. Before starting work, just in case, read the Kuppersberg user manual, as it may contain additional precautions and instructions on how not to void the warranty on the unit. In addition, the instructions are also important because it is in it that the manufacturer indicates the exact dimensions of the equipment, which is especially useful to know for high-quality integration of equipment into a kitchen cabinet niche.
Finally, double-check the correct installation and accessibility of all necessary communications, as well as the length of the power cord and hoses. If everything is in order, then turn off the cold water in the house and proceed to connecting to the water supply and sewerage system.
Most modern household appliances are connected exclusively to cold water, but there are devices that can also be connected to hot water. To connect the PMM, the easiest way is to use a tee with a tap, into which, in addition to the dishwasher, you can also “integrate” a washing machine. It should be placed directly on the water supply pipe with a ¾-inch thread, not forgetting to securely secure it with FUM tape after installation.Using a tee is also very convenient because you will have the opportunity to turn off the water supply separately for the dishwasher at any time.
As for the inlet hose, you can connect it with your own hands, since it has rubber seals, so it does not need any additional fixation. With the drain hose, everything is a little more complicated, because it needs to be placed in a special way - at a height of approximately 40-100 centimeters from the floor level, and also make sure that its end is not immersed in water. If these requirements are not met, then the waste water after the operating cycle may not go down the drain, but back into the washing chamber. To ensure that liquid always goes only into the sewer, you can choose one of two ways:
- connect the drain hose directly to the siphon. This is very simple and convenient, but for this option you must have the appropriate eyeliner prepared in advance on the siphon;
- connect the hose to the sewer directly or using a tee. Most often, this method is chosen in situations where the dishwasher is located far from water communications. And since the hose should not be more than one and a half meters, then you have to cut it straight into the sewer.
Of course, it is always better to choose the first connection method, because it is simpler, plus, it allows you to avoid unpleasant odors in the house, since there is an elbow with a water plug in the sink siphon. After water supply, all we have to do is work with the energy supply, for which a separate outlet with grounding and moisture protection must be prepared in the house in case of a breakthrough. Of course, the outlet should be located in close proximity to the PMM, since the device cord rarely exceeds one and a half meters in length.
Never use an extension cord to connect a Kuppersberg dishwasher - the appliance can melt due to excessive voltage and even cause a fire in the house.
The final installation step is to hang the decorative panel on the full-size dishwasher. If this is your case, then the equipment should come with a special kit for installing the facade, which includes screws, brackets and other necessary parts. It is recommended to install the facade only after the machine is connected to all communications and leveled. To fix it, you just need to attach the fixing strips to the self-tapping screws and install them on the PMM door.
At this point, the preparation of the machine for a long period of operation is considered complete. Re-read the official instructions, run a test idle cycle to clean the unit and ensure proper installation, and you are ready to wash your dirty dishes.
