Can I wash it in a washing machine if there is no hot water?
During a planned shutdown of hot water, many housewives wonder whether it is possible to use the washing machine. Those who recently acquired a machine gun are especially doubtful. Let's figure out whether stopping the supply affects the performance of the equipment, or whether it is not interconnected.
Does the machine depend on hot water supply?
So is it possible to wash without hot water? Most washing machine models are connected only to cold water supply, so the lack of warm water does not affect the performance of the equipment.
However, there are machines that connect to both cold and hot water. In this case, during the shutdown period, problems may arise with automatic washing when starting high-temperature programs. Such equipment, to perform the main cycles, draws cool water, and if it is necessary to wash at a higher degree, it additionally uses hot water.
Washing machines connected to both hot and cold water supply pipes were invented to save equipment resources. Such machines do not waste time heating the liquid; water of the required degree immediately enters the tank.
If there is no hot water, you can use a machine connected to a cold water supply as usual. It's easy to check. Inspect the back panel of the machine. If there is only one hose on top, your washing machine is “fed” with cool water, if there are two, then it is fed with warm water. Please note that there is also a drain hose connected there; it does not need to be taken into account when calculating.
To be sure, it is better to “follow” the inlet hose with your gaze to the place where it connects to the pipe. This way you can see what kind of water the equipment operates on.
Is it worth connecting equipment to hot water?
When thinking about purchasing a washing machine connected to hot water supply, first evaluate how profitable such a purchase is. What would be cheaper, to have the machine heat the water using a heating element or to immediately fill the tank with warm liquid?
If the apartment does not have hot water consumption meters, then using it with a washing machine will be more profitable than heating it.
In this case, the payment for utility services is calculated according to the standard, and no matter how much water flows, the amount on the receipt will remain the same. But electricity consumption will be significantly reduced.
It is advisable to use hot water for washing if it is sufficiently warm (up to 60°C or more). When a barely warm stream flows from the tap, there is no point in buying such a model of washing machine; the equipment will still have to heat the liquid. And with meters, each wash will cost a pretty penny.
It is profitable to buy a washing machine with this function for a private house with its own heating unit. If a gas boiler is installed to heat water, the machine will help save a certain amount of money.
Which machine to install is up to you. There is no need to be afraid to use the machine when the hot water supply stops. If you turn on the washing machine, nothing bad will happen - the equipment itself will heat the liquid to the desired degree and wash the clothes.
