Washing laces in the washing machine
Washing laces in a washing machine is not often practiced. Firstly, you cannot wash the “ropes” separately from other things, since spinning an almost empty drum is expensive and pointless. Secondly, small accessories are washed only in special bags, which also need to be filled with other laundry. But purely theoretically, it is possible to load laces into the machine. True, for an excellent result you will have to follow several rules and recommendations.
Automatic washing of white laces
It is not easy to wash white laces by hand. Small ropes cannot be thoroughly rubbed, but they get dirty very quickly and quite seriously. The situation is complicated by the fact that even minor stains and stains can be seen on light colors, which are quite difficult to deal with.
A washing machine will help in cleaning the laces, and for high-quality bleaching you need to follow the instructions.
- Pre-soak the laces. Place them in a container of suitable size, fill with hot water, add washing powder with a brightening effect and leave for 20-30 minutes. If there is no possibility of pre-soaking, you can do it the old fashioned way: rinse the ropes under the tap, lathering them heavily with laundry soap.
- Wring out the laces and place in a protective mesh bag. Instead of the latter, a sheet or nylon tights will do. Such protection is needed so that the laces do not get stuck in the drain, falling out of the drum into the tank during the spin cycle.
- Load the bag with strings into the drum. To prevent the washer from running idle, it is recommended to add items that are suitable in color and material.
Laces can be washed with shoes and clothes, the main thing is not to put faded items.
- Use the programmer to select a normal washing mode, for example, “Quick” or “Mixed”. If the washing machine allows you to change the specified settings, we make adjustments: spin within 600-800, temperature 35-60 degrees.
Unlike other things and accessories, laces are durable. In case of severe contamination, you can safely set the maximum water heating temperature and not worry about the integrity of the material. Also, do not forget that ropes can be washed with shoes, insoles and other clothing. The main thing is to sort things by color to avoid shedding.
Cleaning without a machine
Experience shows that it is better to wash laces by hand. It is cheaper, faster and of better quality, since when washing by hand you can use aggressive bleaches and practice soaking for many hours. White specimens are especially in need of thorough cleaning.
First of all, we pre-clean the products. We proceed as before starting machine washing: scrape off the adhering dirt and wash thoroughly with soap and water under the tap. If we can’t cope with the dirty deposits and stains, we move on to more “strict” measures.
- Take a saucepan, fill it with warm water and add 2 caps of gasoline. We immerse the laces in the solution and place them on the stove, choosing a moderate “fire”. The product is cooked for about 20 minutes, after which it is pulled out and rinsed.
- Prepare gasoline, non-chlorine bleach and cotton pads. We soak a cotton wool with gasoline and treat all areas with stains. Afterwards, remove the dirt with a damp sponge. Now we dilute the stain remover, soak the laces in it, wipe and rinse under the tap.
You can bleach white laces at home with gasoline, vinegar, toothpaste, peroxide or laundry soap.
- If the laces are yellow, then cleaning with 3% vinegar, peroxide and powder is necessary. Take one teaspoon of all ingredients and mix to a paste-like mixture. Apply the paste to a brush or sponge, treat the surface of the laces and leave to “impregnate” for 20-25 minutes. Afterwards, rinse thoroughly in warm water. The procedure is repeated until the ropes are perfectly clean.
- We turn to whitening toothpaste for help. After preliminary cleaning, cover the laces with a cleaning compound and leave them alone for 30-40 minutes. Three brushes and rinse with water.
- For minor stains, you can get by with just laundry soap. The tactics here are simple: soap the laces, rub until foam forms, and rinse.
Special chemical compounds also cope well with stains. Oxygen bleaches have proven themselves well, helping light-colored fabrics return their snow-white hue. You just need to study the instructions, prepare a solution and leave the laces in it for an hour. At the finish, rinse and dry.
What to wash with?
Home remedies are good, but it’s faster and more convenient not to experiment with ratios and proportions, but to use special chemistry. Special formulations are offered in gels, powders, concentrates and aerosols - you just need to choose a quality product. We suggest that you do not purchase the first one you come across, but first get acquainted with trusted manufacturers and brands.
- Ace Gel Ultra. This is a thick gel, similar in principle to whiteness. Bleaching occurs thanks to chlorine, which penetrates the structure of the fabric, giving it shine, freshness and cleanliness. The good news is that the product is suitable for both hand and automatic washing. The quality of washing does not depend on temperature, so you can wash it in cold water, warm water, or hot water. There is no strong chemical smell, and the cost is low.
- Synergetic with active oxygen. Gel bleach of universal action. Due to its soft formula, it is suitable for any fabric and can be used for both manual and automatic washing. There is no connection to degrees: the product works effectively at both low and high temperatures. The main feature of the gel is its oxygen composition, with the help of which cleansing occurs quickly and does not require hour-long soaking.
- Amway SA Suitable for both white and colored items. It works in a temperature range from 20 to 90 degrees, and the higher the temperature, the stronger the effect of the cleaner. The active composition with chlorine and strong substances does not affect the integrity of the product: the material is not damaged and does not fade. The only downside is the price - the gel is not cheap.
- Vanish Gold Oxi Action. Powder mixture sold in sealed jars of 90, 250, 500 and 1000 grams. It is inexpensive, but it works very effectively - things lighten by 3-4 tones in just 30 seconds of soaking.
- Faberlic Extra Oxy. Bleach powder that is not afraid of cold water and is suitable for any fabric. According to customer reviews, the product copes with stains in one wash, and due to the concentrated composition it is used very economically. It is important that the mixture is absolutely safe and hypoallergenic, as it does not contain chlorine and phosphates.
The laces are quite unpretentious and can be easily washed both in a machine and by hand. The main thing is to choose the right detergent and use it according to the instructions on the package.
