Washing pillowcases

Washing the yellowish pillowcase

Adjust the washing parameters: select the “hottest” program, taking into account that the soaking time should be at least half an hour. As a rule, such modes are washed in a couple of hours.

Seriously soiled pillowcase

More serious stains can be removed in many different ways. We will give just a few examples.

Regular laundry soap is perfect for removing both fresh and old stains. Wet the problem area with water or lightly dampen the entire pillowcase and vigorously rub the desired area with soap. Leave the product in this condition for a couple of days, and then wash it in a machine. If the stain is fresh, just soak the item in a soapy solution for a couple of hours and then boil it. The fabrics from which pillowcases are made (calico or cotton) can withstand high temperatures well.
If your pillowcases have turned yellow or gray over time, but you want to return them to their former fresh white look, use Whiteness. Mix the product with water in the proportions indicated on the bottle and dip your pillowcase in the resulting solution for the specified time.
Domestos performs the same whitening function, but it is more delicate. It can even be added to the washing machine when the drum is already filled with water.
Fairy will help you get rid of grease. Dampen the cloth, apply a little product and rub the problem areas thoroughly until foam forms. Leave the pillowcase in this form for several hours, and then, without rinsing, send it to the washing machine on the normal cycle.
Starch will help restore freshness to pillowcases, make them softer and more pleasant to the touch. Add 2 tablespoons to 5 liters of water and soak the pillowcase for a while.
Another way to restore whiteness is boric acid. Add 2 tablespoons per 3 liters of water and leave the pillowcase for 3-10 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly.
A solution of a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, a couple of pinches of baking soda and 3 liters of water will help effectively wash a pillowcase if you leave it there for a couple of hours.

The listed methods eliminate the remnants of sweat, dust, and dirt that appear during the natural use of the item.

Attention! Silk pillowcases or satin linen should only be washed on delicate programs.

Removal of special contaminants

But it also happens that stains from something edible remain on the pillowcase, and then the approach to washing and the means will be somewhat different. Let's give practical examples.

To get rid of tea or coffee stains, mix glycerin, ammonia and water, wipe the problem area.
If you spill red wine, you can wash it off under high pressure of hot water, but white wine or champagne can also be washed with water, only with the addition of a teaspoon of soda.
Fruit juice can be washed off well with hydrogen peroxide.
Traces of decorative cosmetics can be removed using acetone or gasoline. Lipstick can be removed with pharmaceutical powder.
To remove traces of chocolate, dilute 1 teaspoon of salt in 1 liter of water.

Regardless of what type of contamination you encounter, if possible, you should remove it immediately, while it is still fresh and has not yet become embedded in the fibers of the fabric.
