Washing leather trousers
For obvious reasons, washing leather trousers in an automatic washing machine is strictly prohibited. However, there is some consolation in the fact that the product can be subjected to another type of cleaning, which is in no way inferior in efficiency to machine cleaning. Let's figure out how to do it correctly so that you can be satisfied with the result.
Safe cleaning
If the stains are not serious, or you need to refresh the inside of your pants or leggings, you don’t need to wash or wash them at all. Wipe the problem areas with water and that will be enough.
For complete cleaning:
- Fill a bowl with warm water and add a little soap or other detergent.
- Hang your pants over the bathtub.
- Using a soft sponge, apply the soap mixture to the dirty areas.
- Wait a few minutes or immediately remove the solution from the shower.
- Leave the item hanging until the water drains.
After this, all that remains is to dry the product at room temperature under natural conditions.
Allowed to wash
Sometimes washing leather trousers may be allowed by the manufacturer. In this case, there is nothing wrong with loading them into the machine. Standard washing parameters will be as follows:
- delicate program;
- wash at 30 degrees;
- liquid detergent;
- spin disabled;
- drying disabled.
Changing the conditions is permissible only if the manufacturer is indicated. In fact, the delicate mode repeats hand washing, so you can do the same thing yourself. Pour cool water into a basin, add detergent and leave the panties there for 5-10 minutes. If there is dirt, rub it with a sponge. Then rinse off the soap solution and let the pants dry naturally.
Advice from experienced housewives
You can wash leather pants from various types of dirt using the following time-tested methods:
- Foam the laundry soap, collect it with a brush and spread it over the surface of the trousers. Then rinse and leave until completely dry.
- You can remove stubborn stains, such as blood, using vinegar. Dilute it half and half with water and apply to dirt. Leave for a couple of minutes and remove the residue with a napkin.
- Gasoline, lemon juice and alcohol have the same effect. You can apply them pure on a cotton pad and wipe the surface of the pants, and then remove the excess with a cloth.
- If the skin is white, the washing solution is prepared by mixing milk and egg white in equal proportions.
- To ensure that your leather item does not get damaged, you can use special liquids such as Kozhanka, Unikum and others. They are applied to dirty areas of trousers.
Important! Leather leggings can be washed with gentle detergent. The stores offer a wide selection of them.
Leather pants are not always the same; the characteristics of the material can be very diverse. The more detailed you study the composition of the item, the higher the likelihood that you will clean it without incident.
Or maybe you can entrust the thing to professionals?
You can dry-clean an item if the corresponding prohibition is not reflected on the tag. Note:
- Leatherettes can be dry cleaned;
- pork skin must only be professionally cleaned;
- calfskin is resistant to chemicals and water;
- Eco-leather can be dry-cleaned;
- Suede is dry or professionally cleaned.
Washing leather trousers, of course, can be a hassle, but the pleasure of wearing such a thing is certainly worth it.
