Washing eco-leather trousers
Modern and fashionable trousers made of eco-leather cannot be distinguished from those made of genuine leather. But they are no less popular, because they are wear-resistant and resistant to contamination. Eco-leather does not crack in the cold, is soft and elastic. In general, it’s not difficult to care for, but it’s worth figuring out how to wash eco-leather trousers.
Is it possible to put trousers in the washing machine?
Eco-leather products, including trousers, are recommended to be washed by hand. You should not soak your trousers in soapy water; eco-leather may be damaged. But you can clean them with a damp sponge, while removing stains.
Important! Be sure to read the information on the product label. The manufacturer must indicate how to wash the product and at what temperature.
Most often, on the label you will see a crossed out basin with water, which prohibits washing at all, or a basin with a hand. This sign allows hand washing only. There will definitely be a crossed out triangle - this is a ban on all types of bleaching. If you see a machine washable icon on the label, then select the mode with the lowest temperature. In this case, it is best to wash with a minimum amount of washing powder and preferably liquid. This will prevent white streaks from the powder from appearing on black leather.
As for spinning, it is better to refuse it. Let the water drain and the product dry naturally. This way it won’t get wrinkled and spoiled. If the manufacturer allows you to spin in the machine, then do it at minimum speed.
We take care in the traditional way
When washing faux leather trousers, remember the rules:
- check the detergent (soap, powder, etc.) in an inconspicuous area;
- do not soak the item;
- The leather of the product should be wiped with a sponge, and the lining should be washed carefully;
- Do not twist the product so that the trousers do not stretch.
A soap solution for caring for trousers is prepared as follows. Dissolve liquid laundry detergent in warm water (temperature up to 40 degrees) at the rate of half the dose for washing cotton or viscose clothes. This is about half a plastic cap. Powder is more aggressive, so it should not be used. Place trousers in the resulting solution, rub with a sponge, and then rinse gently in a basin.
How to dry without risk?
After a short wash, you need to let the water drain, straighten the product and let it dry naturally. You can spread the item on a towel in a horizontal position, covering it with another towel on top. This way, excess moisture will be absorbed into the fabric faster, and the trousers will begin to dry. When the trousers are almost dry and slightly damp, you can hang them on hangers and dry them completely.
Do not dry eco-leather trousers, dresses, skirts on a radiator, or in the sun. Do not use a hair dryer to try to speed up the process. It is also prohibited to use a steam generator and irons for cleaning.
No matter how easy eco-leather is to care for, you need to be careful when washing so that the item does not deteriorate. Try to remove dirt and stains from your trousers in a timely manner, resorting only to wet cleaning. Then you won't have to wash your pants often with full immersion in water, do it only as needed. This way the item will last a long time, pleasing its owner.
