Samsung washing machine does not spin
The spin cycle in the washing machine has stopped working - this is a problem that users of automatic machines often turn to household appliance repair shops. In fact, there may be a spin cycle, but the laundry remains too damp. We will tell you what the reasons for such a malfunction are and give recommendations for repairing equipment using the example of a Samsung washing machine.
Custom Reasons
The most common reason that the spin cycle in a washing machine does not work is user carelessness and neglect of the rules for operating the equipment. For example, choosing the wrong washing mode or not knowing the parameters of the washing mode can lead to you taking damp or even wet laundry out of the drum. In some delicate washing modes, the spin process is not provided in order not to spoil the delicate fabric.
Sometimes the user, without noticing it, turns off the spin cycle. The problem can be easily solved if you run the spin function after washing.
Serious problems in the operation of the washing machine can be caused by clogs in the drain filter and pump. And such a blockage occurs mainly due to the fact that people do not pay attention to caring for their home assistant. The filter should be cleaned regularly, thereby saving the machine from possible clogging of the drain system and from stagnant water, which can emit an unpleasant odor. If the machine stops spinning and there is clearly water in the drum, then first check the drainage filter.
In a Samsung washing machine it is located in the lower right corner behind a small door.Next to the filter cover you will see a hose through which you can drain the remaining water from the drum, and only then unscrew the filter counterclockwise and check for clogging.
A common cause of poor spinning is overloading or underloading the drum with laundry. By overloading the machine with bulky items, not only does the load on the machine parts increase, but the laundry also fails to be wrung out. You should not wash light curtains or several pairs of socks in a machine with a large drum; they may also not be wrung out, causing imbalance.
Parts breakdowns
The Samsung washing machine does not spin, what should I do? More serious reasons for the lack of spinning are technical breakdowns. To find out the reason, you will have to act consistently. It is optimal to check the parts in the following order:
- water pump;
- tachometer;
- engine;
- pressure switch;
- control module.
Why exactly this and not otherwise is explained very simply. We have determined the procedure for checking the above parts based on their availability. The pump, tachometer and motor can be “obtained” through the bottom of the washing machine, the pressure switch through the top cover, but the control module will have to be removed by partially disassembling the front panel. The easiest way is to start approaching the insides of the washer through its bottom, since we will immediately be able to check the pump, the tachometer, and the engine. This is what we will do.
- We turn off the water and disconnect the washing machine from the sewer and water supply.
- We take out the washing machine from the niche in which it is installed.
- We take out the powder receptacle.
- Place the washer on its side very carefully. Place it on the left side to prevent water from leaking onto the electrical parts of the washing machine.
- We remove the pallet. Be careful not to tear off the leak sensor wire.
- Remove the plastic clamps that secure the pipe going from the tank to the pump.
- We move the pipe to the side, first checking to see if it is clogged with dirt or foreign objects.
- Unscrew the screws holding the pump and remove it.
- We check the pump for mechanical damage, paying special attention to the impeller.
- Using a multimeter, we measure the resistance at the contacts of the pump; if the drain pump is working, the device will show a three-digit number.
Now it’s the turn of the tachometer. This is a small device that looks like a ring with wires sticking out. The tachogenerator is located on the engine, transmitting information about the intensity of rotation of its moving parts to the control module; without it, the washing machine cannot wring out clothes. Disconnect the tachogenerator wires and remove the sensor from the engine. We check the resistance with a multimeter, determining whether the sensor works or not.
Now disconnect the wires from the engine. This must be done carefully so as not to accidentally tear off anything. Remove the drive belt from the pulley.
We recommend taking a photo of the location of the wires with your phone, so that later, when you put the motor back in place, you don’t confuse anything.
Unscrew the mounting bolts that hold the engine in place. Carefully remove the engine. First, let's take out and check the brushes; this is a fairly common problem with commutator motors. Next, let's check the winding resistance with a multimeter, and if it turns out that it is broken, there is no point in restoring the engine. No, well, of course, you can try to give the engine to some master to rewind, but this idea will cost you approximately the cost of a new engine plus the wait. In general, “the game is not worth the candle”!
The next stage of work to test the hypothesis of why the Samsung washing machine does not spin, pushes us to get to the pressure switch. Because of this sensor, the washing machine cannot spin the laundry, since the control module, not receiving data about the water level in the tank, sounds the alarm and freezes even before the spin cycle begins. Where is the pressure switch located on a Samsung washing machine?
This sensor is located in the upper part of the washing machine body, just under the top cover. Therefore, we need to remove the cover. We have already described how best to do this in the article. Removing the top cover of the washing machine, read it and everything will become clear to you.
Under the lid we immediately notice an unusual detail, a plastic washer with a tube - this is the pressure switch. Disconnect the wires from the sensor and remove it. The pressure switch, mainly made of plastic, also has an electrical part, which we check with a multimeter. At the same time, you need to blow out and clean the pressure switch tube with a toothpick.
Next up is the control module, but we wouldn’t advise you to mess with this part. Qualified specialists can quickly and “painlessly” remove and check this element, but you may find this operation too complicated. Moreover, during a makeshift inspection and repair of the control module, you risk damaging it even more, so it’s better to leave this idea and contact a specialist - it will be cheaper.
Troubleshooting
Checking the above details, we will certainly come across the element that caused problems with spinning clothes with a Samsung washing machine. Eliminating these faults mainly involves replacing damaged parts, but there are exceptions to the rule.In particular, if the drain pump impeller is damaged, it can be replaced without replacing the entire pump.
If you manage to find a suitable impeller in a store, you will save $10 on repairs, but if you cannot find an impeller, you can always buy a new pump.
In rare cases, it is also possible to “reanimate” a broken pressure switch by replacing its electrical part. Here, again, everything will depend on whether you find a suitable replacement for the electrical part of the pressure switch or not. If a replacement is found, you can save about $6, if not, buy and install a new pressure switch.
To summarize, we note that a Samsung washing machine may stop spinning clothes for a number of reasons. These may be trivial user errors or serious breakdowns, but in any case, the cause will have to be found and it is better not to delay it. Good luck!

So what?
Hello. I have the following question: I set the washing machine to quick wash. She did everything, but the time came for the spin cycle and she stopped at 2 minutes. And so she twisted for about 15 minutes, but still didn’t wring out the laundry. Then I paused it, 3 minutes was displayed. And the lock came off after a few minutes, what could cause this and what should I do?
I have the same thing and can’t find the reason?
I also didn’t spin the drum and didn’t spin it out, much less. It takes in water, drains it, but doesn’t turn it. I took it apart and the brushes are like new. I pulled all the wires, freaked out, tapped the control unit with a hammer and damn... it works, I still don’t understand exactly what it was!
Hammer power))
This is the reason for a loose belt!
I should have used a sledgehammer instead of a hammer
