Errors 1E, 1C, E7 in a Samsung washing machine
Your washing machine does not want to work normally and displays an error on the display, which means something has happened to it. Error code 1E (aka 1C and E7) alerts you to what might have broken down in your equipment. If you have instructions at hand, then you can find a description of the code in it, and if there are no such instructions, then our article will help you deal with this problem.
What does this code mean?
On a Samsung washing machine, error 1E can appear at any time while the program is running, even at the beginning of the cycle, even in the middle, especially when it first appears. This error is associated with incorrect operation of the water level sensor, which experts call a pressure switch. Before this error appears, the drain pump is turned on in the machine to pump out water.
Code 1E appears on washing machines manufactured after 2007. On earlier models, this problem is encrypted with E7 code.
If within a few seconds the water level sensor supplies the control module with an incorrect frequency that goes beyond 15-30 MHz, then within three minutes the water drains from the washing machine, and then this error appears. On some washing machines you can see code 1C, which is identical to codes 1E and E7. And here error E1 means something completely different, so don’t confuse 1E and E1.
Not only washing machines with intelligent control notify about a breakdown of this nature. On machines without a display, the following sensors light up:
- temperature sensor 600WITH;
- temperature sensor 400WITH;
- cold water sensor.
All other indicators begin to flash simultaneously.
Causes
Error 1E or E7, according to statistics, most often appears when the water level sensor itself breaks down, but in some cases, the cause may be:
- a bend in the pressure tube, and possibly the appearance of a hole in the tube running from the pressure switch to the tank;
- failure of the electronic module, in this case you can try turning off the washing machine from the network for a while, 10-15 minutes. If you’re lucky, the “brains” will reboot and the machine will work normally;
- a malfunction in the electrical system going from the pressure switch to the control module, oxidation of the contacts.
Trouble-shooting
To accurately determine the cause of this error, you need to open the body of the washing machine and, as they say, see the breakdown with your own eyes. It’s much easier to get to the pressure switch of a Samsung washing machine than to get to the heating element or control module, so let’s do it “without delay.”
- Turn off the water and disconnect the inlet hose of the washing machine.
- Disconnect the drain hose from the sewer lines.
- We disconnect from the power supply.
- We take out the powder receptacle and put it aside; at the same time, you can rinse it thoroughly.
- We take out the washing machine from the niche in which it is installed.
- We unscrew the two screws, which are located on the back wall in the upper right corner of the case and in the upper left corner of the case, respectively.
- Facing the back wall of the washer, place both palms on the top cover, and then slide this cover back, and then lift it up.
- There is a pressure switch in the upper part of the machine body (closer to the rear wall), it is impossible to confuse it with any other part.
Having found the pressure switch, the first thing we do is check the pressure tube for holes and blockages.If neither one nor the other could be detected, take a multimeter and start checking the resistance and contacts of the water level sensor. We will not describe the entire verification process in detail, since we have already done this as part of the publication Checking the washing machine pressure switch - level switch.
If the pressure switch nevertheless turns out to be working, do not give up and continue checking. After the water level sensor, it is necessary to check the electrical communications that power this part and connect it to the control module. You need to “ring” the entire chip and each wiring separately. If the wiring is OK, we are probably dealing with a serious control module malfunction.
Normal interaction with the pressure switch could be affected by burnt-out tracks on the control board, triacs and other semiconductor elements. You can try to ring them all yourself and, perhaps, you will be able to find the faulty part, but most likely, problems will arise with finding the problem and fixing it in this case.
We, for our part, always advise delegating faults in the electronics of the washing machine to a specialist who will competently, at no extra cost, correct the breakdown. Independent elimination of such malfunctions may well lead to complete failure.omke control module, and this is a completely different expense.
In conclusion, we note that one of the easiest washing machine modules to repair, the pressure switch, can throw up a number of surprises. So, if you happen to encounter error 1e in a Samsung washing machine, be extremely careful, but do not rush into the case, first at least restart the “home assistant” a couple of times. Good luck with the renovation!
