The aqua-stop of the Bosch washing machine has worked
Modern machines have protection against leaks, thanks to which the system detects damage to the hoses, tank and pipes and emergency stops the cycle. This is convenient and safe, but sometimes it’s expensive: after activating the function, you have to call a technician to restore the sensor. Of course, you want to avoid unnecessary expenses and learn how to eliminate the consequences on your own.
We suggest you figure out what to do if the aqua-stop of your Bosch washing machine works. We will give the reasons, ways to eliminate them and the procedure for deactivating the sensor.
Why was Aquastop activated?
Aquastop is a system that protects the washing machine from leaks. The mechanism consists of two elements: a box with a solenoid valve in the inlet hose and a sensor with a float on the tray of the machine. So, when the corrugation leaks, water gets to the bottom of the unit, after which a “chain reaction” starts:
- water fills the pan;
- the float rises;
- the sensor is triggered;
- a leak signal is transmitted to the valve;
- the valve blocks the intake of water through the inlet hose;
- washing stops;
- The washing machine stops working.
If the washing machine tray fills with water, Aquastop, a leakage protection system, will work.
It’s just that Aquastop works extremely rarely. As a rule, an emergency shutdown occurs for a specific reason. So, water accumulates in the pan in the following situations:
- failure or damage to the inlet or drain hose;
- loose clamps on the pipes;
- presence of cracks in the tank;
- a foreign object stuck in the detergent tray;
- an oil seal that has moved away from the joint;
- damage to the hatch cuff.
If Aquastop works on the inlet hose, the problem may not always be visible visually. Often the inner layer of the corrugation breaks, water gets between the layers of rubber, the sensor detects the leak and sends a signal. The choice of what to do in this case is small: it is impossible to glue such a sleeve - only replace it with a whole one.
Will it be possible to fix it?
You need to react correctly to the activation of Aquastop. There are two options: fix the problem yourself or call a specialist. The first way is more time-consuming, but cheaper in terms of finances. If you have the desire and strength, you can try to cope with the problem on your own.
We proceed according to the following scheme:
- stop the started cycle;
- drain the water from the drum through a special program or garbage filter;
- disconnect the washing machine from the power supply;
- empty the tray of the machine by tilting the body forward;
- find out the cause of the leak and eliminate it.
The last point is the longest. To identify the source of the “flood”, it is necessary to consistently check all the “sore points” of the system. Diagnostics begins with something simple – hoses. Carefully inspect the inlet hose for cracks and leaks. Then all pipes are examined for leaks, followed by the pump, volute and drain hose.
Diagnostics at the hatch cuff continues. You need to carefully inspect the rubber band for cracks and abrasions. Next, the powder receptacle is checked. If the leak is still not detected, you will have to completely disassemble the machine. It is probably necessary to replace the leaking oil seal or treat the surface of the tank with sealant.
If Aquastop has worked and the washer tray is completely dry, then the problem is not in the leak, but in the system itself.You will have to inspect the sensor, the connected wiring and contacts for the integrity and reliability of the fastenings. If there are no visual problems, loose wires or signs of burnout, the device will need to be replaced.
A triggered Aquastop requires an immediate response. You need to call a professional or figure out the causes of the leak yourself. Even “beginners” can do the latter.
