Removing the top cover of the washing machine
Removing the top cover of your washing machine can be difficult. But only for those people who have never done this. In fact, this is a very simple activity and does not require special strength or specific skills.
Typically, the need to dismantle the upper part of the body of this type of household appliance occurs when something breaks. And if your machine has a breakdown, then first you need to clarify what the fault is. And to do this, the machine needs to be disassembled. In some cases, you can simply remove the top part. In others, you have to disassemble the machine almost completely. And most of the disassembly of the machine begins with the lid.
Is your washing machine broken?
So, if your washing machine is broken, then you can go in two ways:
- Call a specialist. This is the easiest way. You do not need to understand the structure of the washing machine, identify and fix the malfunction, and assemble or disassemble your household appliances. The only downside to this option is that you will have to spend more money. On the plus side, it is worth noting that by calling a professional, you do not risk the continued performance of your machine. And all work and parts replaced by the master are usually guaranteed.
- You can find and fix the problem yourself. Of the minuses: no matter how you twist it, a beginner still takes risks. Without knowing how and not understanding what and how to do correctly, you can damage the machine. Therefore, if you decide to repair it yourself, you need to do it carefully. One of the benefits is that it saves money. You won’t have to pay for the work of the master, but you will still have to fork out for a new part (in the event that the old one has completely failed).
By the way, on our website you can find many instructions for replacing various parts yourself and eliminating most of the existing breakdowns of washing machines!
Remove the cover
Removing the cover of the washing machine is necessary in order to disassemble the machine. Without removing the top part of the body, you will not be able to access many of the internal parts of the machine.
In order to remove the lid of the washing machine, we need an ordinary Phillips screwdriver. The cover is secured with two bolts from the rear of the housing. Therefore, if your machine is too close to the wall and you cannot find or reach the bolts with a screwdriver, then it will need to be pushed forward.
Don't forget to unplug the machine. Then pull it out and unscrew the bolts. After this, you need to move the upper part of the body back. To do this, you can push it. It will come out of the fixing grooves. Then you can simply remove it and put it away so that it does not interfere with getting to the internal parts.
The lid is put back on in exactly the same way. That is, first you push its front part into the grooves, pushing the cover forward from the back. And only then screws it on with two bolts.
It is worth mentioning that there are a large number of different models of washing machines. And perhaps some of them have a lid that is attached differently. Here we looked at the most common mounting method, which is most often found in most front-loading machines.
For a more visual demonstration, we decided to supplement this post with video material on this topic. In this video you can see the entire process of removing the cover:
