How to remove the back wall of a Zanussi washing machine?
If you are repairing a Zanussi washing machine with your own hands, and you need to inspect the pulley, replace the drive belt, check the electric motor brushes, then you cannot do without removing the back panel. For other brands, the back wall can be easily removed; just unscrew a few screws. But removing the back cover of the case from a Zanussi washing machine is much more difficult.
Cover first
The difficulty is that the design of the Zanussi washing machine does not imply the presence of a back wall at all. There are no side parts either - the unit consists of two halves. Therefore, you will need to almost completely disassemble the machine and remove the back half of the body. We start by turning off the water, disconnecting the equipment from the electrical network, sewerage, and water supply.
Attention! Since you will have to disconnect the drain hose and water supply hose, you can take advantage of the situation and immediately rinse and unclog them.
Then remove the top cover. To do this, we use an 8 mm wrench. We move the machine to a convenient place, go in from behind and unscrew the bolts holding the top cover by the eyes. We move the panel towards us and try to open it up. If the lid does not budge, gently tap the edges and it will pop off the plastic clips.
Removing the back half of the case
The Zanussi machine consists of two large parts: the back wall and two rear halves of the right and left walls of the body, respectively, and the front wall, attached to the two front halves of the side panels. By removing the back panel, you get access to many of the insides of the equipment: heating element and temperature sensor, pressure switch, counterweight, drive belt, racks, engine, etc. All Zanussi models are created according to this principle and also have a collapsible tank, the parts of which are connected by long screws. To dismantle the rear panel you must:
- find plastic plugs on the side walls;
- pull them off with an awl;
- Unscrew the screws located under the plugs.
Now we look at the top of the washing machine. Almost immediately, a large metal plate catches your eye, giving rigidity to the entire structure. Along its edges we look for the screws that hold the back wall and unscrew them. It is better to put all fasteners separately, for example, on a plate, so as not to lose them.
The only remaining part that prevents the panel from being removed is the plastic fastener. There is an inlet valve with pipes on it. There is no need to remove either the valve or its elements - remove the holder completely, first prying off the plastic latches with a minus screwdriver. On some Zanussi models, the mount consists of two parts connected by a screw - in this case, you must first unscrew the screw and then open the latches. Rock the back wall from side to side and pull it towards you - it will move and move back.
