How to remove the back wall on an Electrolux washing machine?
It will be necessary to remove the back panel of the Electrolux washing machine when you need to check the motor brushes, replace the drive belt, or, for example, inspect the pulley. As a rule, disassembling the case is not difficult, but on some Electrolux (as well as Zanussi) models this is not an easy task. In this review we will tell you how to remove the back cover of an Electrolux washing machine.
Is the back panel removable?
More often than not, such a task simply does not arise: most of these types of devices are equipped with rear panels with a regular, simple screw fastening. Some brands of machines, in particular Indesit, are equipped with special hatches, after removing which you can get inside the machine body. Range of models Electrolux It is not at all designed for dismantling the panels in the rear and side parts of the case; the entire structure looks like a visually indivisible box without a back wall.
However, if you have an Electrolux washing machine, then it is logical to ask: what is the procedure for disconnecting the rear wall in this example? The design of the washing machine simply does not provide for a back panel, and the body box in this part is not divided.
If you need to get to the belt or other parts, you will need to halve the entire case.
Taking a closer look at the SMA body, you will find a thin gap running along the center of the side panels - this is where the halves of the Electrolux washing machine body are joined. If you need to disassemble its body, you will need to perform the following operations:
- remove the top panel (the cover is screwed on with screws located at the back);
- release special latches;
- separate the body in two.
It is not always advisable to remove the back panel or halve the body of the machine. To simply replace the elements of the drive mechanism, you do not need to disassemble the entire washing machine; to do this, you just need to remove the top panel of its body.
How to get to the drive mechanism?
If you use an Electrolux washing machine with a belt drive, then it is possible that sooner or later the belt will stretch or come off. If you find yourself in such a situation, in order to restore the functionality of the machine, you will need to replace the damaged element. Let's look at how this is done with minimal time and effort if the back wall simply does not detach from the body. Before starting any repair work, first disconnect the machine from the power source. Following this, the actions will be as follows:
- separate the upper part of the case by unscrewing a pair of fixing screws;
- Lean the washing machine forward a little, but don't overdo it. Then, reaching through the top, remove the drive belt, which is located behind the rear panel, from the pulley;
- remove the removed belt from the car;
- Taking the new belt in your hand, tilt the housing towards you and carefully guide the belt into its place, first putting it on the motor shaft. This may take several attempts, so the best way is to have an assistant look under the bottom of the washing machine and control the movement of the elastic band;
- Pull the drive belt onto the pulley (metal wheel) of the drum. Start by stretching it on one edge of the wheel, then turn the drum by sticking your hand into the washer hatch, and as a result, the belt will “sit” where you need it;
- make sure that the belt takes a position strictly at the end of the pulley, without moving to the side;
- If the rubber band is displaced, you should correct it by hand, controlling the position of the drive mechanism element on the motor shaft.
Following this, you need to check the performance of the Electrolux machine. Connect it to the power supply and run it in spin mode to check. When the drum begins to rotate, it means you have replaced the belt properly. After this, return the top panel of the case to its place, secure it with screws - and the washing machine is completely ready for use.
