How to remove the cover of a Zanussi washing machine?
Self-repair of household appliances always requires partial or complete disassembly. In any case, you will have to remove the top cover from the body of the Zanussi washing machine to gain free access to the necessary parts. Otherwise, you won’t be able to get to problem areas. Disassembling Zanussi washing machines is complicated by the non-standard design of the machine. We suggest that you first learn all the subtleties and nuances, and then get down to business.
Removing the front-loading CM cover
You cannot immediately begin dismantling the top cover. First, you need to prepare the machine for the procedure - disconnect it from the power supply and other communications, twist the drain and inlet hoses, and move the body to the center of the room. Then we take a screwdriver in our hand and get to work.
Before any repair operations, remember the electrical safety rules.
On front-loading machines, the sequence for dismantling the “top” is as follows:
- go to the rear panel of Zanussi;
- find the plastic eyes of the lid, screwed to the “back”;
- unscrew two bolts from the eyes;
- stand in front of the machine and grab the top cover;
- push the lid away from you with force until the panel moves 1-2 cm with a characteristic click;
- Lift the panel up and move it to the side.
All! The cover has been successfully removed. These instructions are used to remove the top panel on all Zanussi front-loading models.
If the lid “doesn’t budge”, doesn’t move or doesn’t lift, it means it’s jammed. In this case, you should not try to pick it up with a screwdriver or a knife - you can damage the body of the machine.It’s better to try to loosen the element, tap the panel with a mallet, or spray WD-40 into the cracks. Afterwards, the top should easily be removed from the grooves.
Removing the top panel of the CM with vertical loading
On Zanussi top-loading models, the lid is removed in a different way due to design features. The procedure remains simple and quick, but the sequence of actions is completely different. We start by disconnecting equipment from communications and preparing the workplace, and continue according to the following instructions:
- go to the right side wall of the case;
- Unscrew three bolts on each side of the panel;
- pull out the side panel by unclipping the latches at the top and remove its side;
- find the “canopy” with a rubber boot on the right side under the top cover;
- remove the cover;
- take a retaining ring remover;
- separate the sides of the latch with a puller, while simultaneously pulling the cover upward;
- repeat the procedure with the puller on the other side;
- remove the lid to the side.
Before starting repairs, it is recommended to study the factory instructions and electrical diagram of the machine.
That's all - the cover will leave the seat, making it possible to continue the repair. It is important to act extremely carefully so as not to damage the plastic clips. Otherwise, you will have to spend money on new components, including replacing the top panel.
Why is the lid removed?
Removing the top cover on a Zanussi is an almost mandatory procedure when carrying out repairs. Only in this way will the technician be able to reach certain components of the washing machine, check their condition or replace them with serviceable ones.For example, through the “top” there is access to the inlet valve, powder receiver, pressure switch, counterweight and springs holding the tank. Let's look at the purpose of each element in more detail.
- Inlet valve. This device is responsible for drawing water into the tank. If there are problems with filling, underfilling or overfilling, it is important to test the performance of the mechanism. It is located under the top cover near the rear panel in the place where the inlet hose meets the body. To make sure that the sensor is working properly, you need to ring the valve coil and check the wiring and pipes connected to it. The device is also changed through the top.
Only by removing the top cover can you gain access to the inlet valve, pressure switch, counterweights and pipes leading to the powder receiver.
- Tray for detergents. If the powder is poorly washed out of the powder receptacle or water stagnates, then you need to remove the cover and check whether the pipes connected to the element are clogged. It is enough to look into the housing, disconnect the hose by releasing the clamp, clean it or replace it if necessary.
- Pressostat. A level sensor is also “hidden” under the top cover, which is responsible for collecting water into the tank. If the drum does not fill, does it too slowly, or, on the contrary, threatens to flood, then you need to urgently check the pressure switch. Testing and replacing the device is simple: just unscrew the holding bolts, release the wiring, blow it out, dismantle it and install a new one.
- Counterweights. They are rarely checked, but dismantling the cover is indispensable.
It is important that not a single complex repair can be completed without removing the top cover. So, in order to remove the tank with the drum from the body, the first step will be to remove the “top”.Only then can you loosen the tension bar, move the back panel, unhook the springs and do some more important work.
Disassembling a Zanussi, like any other washing machine, almost always begins with removing the top cover. Especially when it comes to a comprehensive check of the machine’s structure.
