Removing the drain hose from a Beko washing machine
A modern washing machine may stop working due to dozens, if not hundreds of reasons. Many of them are difficult to deal with on your own, especially if the problem is damage to the key assembly. However, if the problems are related to a leak in the drain hose or a blockage, then this will be very easy to fix at home without calling a technician. You just need to remove the drain hose from the Beko washing machine and replace it with a new one, or simply clean it thoroughly. Let's look in detail at how to do this correctly.
Dismantling the old hose
Since Beko's home helpers do not have a bottom, they are much easier to work with if you need to remove the drain hose. However, this does not mean that during dismantling you do not need to take precautions and strictly follow the instructions. Prepare a few screwdrivers, pliers, as well as unnecessary towels or rags, and only then get to work. Carefully follow our instructions to remove the problematic corrugation.
- Disconnect the device from all communications.
- Using the emergency drain system, get rid of all waste fluid that remains after the operating cycle.
- Move the device a few meters away from the wall so that it is convenient to work with the equipment.
- Place rags or towels under the equipment.
- Tilt the CM so that you have free access to the bottom.
If you do not have an assistant who can temporarily hold the machine, then it can be placed on its right side.
- Locate the area where the hose connects to the sump pump.
- Loosen the fixing clamp.
- Disconnect the other end of the hose.
- Remove the corrugation from its seat.
- Carefully examine the hose for damage or blockages.
- Remove debris from the hose if it is not damaged, and then replace either it or a new hose.
- Secure it with a clamp and make sure it is securely fastened.
- Connect it to the body.
- Return the washing machine to the wall.
Finally, at this point all you have to do is check the functionality of the equipment by running a test run cycle. Stay close to your appliance to monitor its operation at all stages, especially during draining, when you need to make sure that the outer wall of the hose is dry. If you notice that water has formed at the connection point to the pump, then you need to immediately stop washing and tighten the corrugation clamps more firmly.
Why did the old hose fail?
Due to the enormous load placed on the drain hose, it sometimes fails. Of course, it is reliably protected from aggressive chemical compounds and sudden temperature changes due to its polypropylene composition, but it can be deformed due to mechanical stress, wear, and blockages. We will describe in detail the main reasons affecting the failure of corrugations.
- Incorrect length. Sometimes the “home assistant” comes with a hose of the wrong length, which is not enough to connect to communications. If in such a situation the user did not buy a new sleeve, but tried to lengthen it, then such a design will certainly become unusable over time. That is why it is better not to waste time on such work, but to immediately buy a long hose.
- Damage. Housewives often inadvertently cause damage to the corrugation, for example, when they accidentally install a washing machine or other heavy objects on it.Such careless handling provokes problems with tightness.
- Blockages. If the owner of the SM has not cleaned the machine and its key parts for a long time, then it may suffer due to blockage. In this case, debris or scale simply will not allow the drain hose to pass waste liquid into the sewer.
Additionally, it is worth noting pets and small rodents in private homes, which can, if not completely bite through the corrugation, then make several holes in it. Moreover, regardless of the cause of the problem, it is always necessary to fix it by replacing the old hose with a new one. It is inexpensive, so do not waste time on makeshift repairs using electrical tape, glue or other improvised means.
New replacement hose
Finding a new drain hose is very easy. It is enough to take the old one as a sample, and either go with it to a store of spare parts for household appliances, or order a similar one on the Internet. It is very important to know the distance from the pump to the sewer, plus take into account the required bend of the hose. You also need to choose the type of sleeve before purchasing.
- Standard, made of polypropylene, usually reaching a length of 1 to 5 meters.
- Telescopic, distinguished by its compressed shape and the ability to stretch approximately 3 times.
- Coiled, consisting of several modules, each of which reaches a length of approximately 50 centimeters.
Users rarely face the need to replace the drain hose, so if they have to do this, it is better to do everything correctly right away so as not to return to this issue again.
