How to remove the control panel on an Indesit washing machine?
A plus and minus screwdriver is all you need to remove the control panel on an Indesit washing machine. But behind the simplicity of the process lies a lot of risk, since you will have to deal with fragile plastic and thin wiring. It’s better not to rush and find out all the possible nuances and pitfalls in advance. This will be discussed below.
Preparing the machine for repair
You also need to prepare for the five-minute removal of the dashboard. Often during work you have to tweak and replace something somewhere, so it’s better to immediately organize a comfortable workplace. Perform a series of simple preparatory manipulations.
When repairing a washing machine, follow safety precautions!
- Select an available room. As a rule, in standard bathrooms with an area of 1x1.5 m there is no room to turn around. It is better to “move” to a more spacious corridor, and ideally move the washing machine to a workshop or garage. Even 4 sq. m will be enough for a comfortable time spent doing repairs.
- Cover the area with rags and newspapers.
- Disconnect the machine from communications and move it to the selected location.
- Move the dispenser and remove it from the housing.
- Open the technical hatch and drain the residual water from the lower pipes through the emergency drain.
That's all. You can calmly lay out your tools and get down to business.
Removing the control panel
To disconnect the dashboard, you will have to disassemble the top of the washing machine. First of all, unscrew the bolts holding the cover from behind, carefully lift it and move it away from you. There is no need to use any special force, otherwise it is easy to damage the fragile plastic latches.
Next, we pay attention to the niche from the powder receptacle, where the control panel fasteners are located. We loosen them, then similarly deal with the latch in the upper left corner of the washing machine body. Now pull the part up and remove it.
To remove the dashboard of the Indesit washing machine, you will have to remove the dispenser, unscrew the top cover and release the connected wiring.
A simple procedure is complicated by some nuances. Firstly, any sudden movements are prohibited, as it is easy to break the wiring and damage the machine. Secondly, remember about the wire connection to the intake valve, which also needs to be loosened. Thirdly, you should take care to mark the conductors or take photographs of all connectors to avoid confusion during reassembly.
What elements communicate with the panel?
The control panel must be handled with extreme care. The module is easy to remove, but due to the high fragility of the part and the many connected wires, it is not difficult to make a mistake and aggravate the problem. The situation is complicated by the fact that the board “manages” the entire washing system, connecting to every part of the machine. Thus, the dashboard is responsible for the functioning of almost all elements.
- Engine and tachogenerator. As soon as the user has selected a program, the panel transmits a signal to the motor, which begins to accelerate at the specified power. In response, the board receives information from the Hall sensor, showing the actual engine speed. If a discrepancy or deviation from the norm is noticed, the system will automatically stop the cycle for the safety of the device.
- Pressostat. The panel directly “communicates” with the level sensor, through which it receives information about the tank fill and the quality of the drain. Based on the received data, the system controls the pump and filling valve.
- heating element and thermistor. The “brain” of the machine learns about the degree of water heating through communication with the heater. The temperature sensor also plays an important role: it reports when a set point has been reached, and the board responds by turning off the element.
In a similar way, the panel controls other processes in the machine. But this is only possible if the wiring is intact and the connections are correct. Therefore, when removing the instrument cover, you should be extremely careful, otherwise a minute task will turn into an expensive repair.
I advise you to add to the article a description of the process of removing the control panel of the Arcadia family, for example, in the IWSB 5085 model.
