How to lubricate the bearing of an Indesit washing machine
If your “home assistant” begins to make a lot of noise, although it previously worked almost silently, then, most likely, the extraneous sound appeared due to wear of the bearing unit. In such a situation, it is necessary to lubricate the bearing of the Indesit washing machine as quickly as possible, because this will not only eliminate the noise, but also extend the service life of the element. We'll tell you how to process the parts correctly.
Choosing the right material
First of all, you need to choose a detergent. There are many types of this product on the market, each of which has very different properties. Let's figure out what kind of lubricant should be used for bearings and seals.
- Moisture resistant. Due to the fact that the seal located on the bearing and protecting the part from moisture is constantly in contact with the liquid, the lubricant must be resistant to water. If it does not remain on the sealing ring after contact with water, then such a product is not suitable for treating the assembly.
- Heat resistant. This is also extremely important, because the lubricant must withstand both the high temperature of hot water and the heating of the shaft during extremely rapid rotation of the drum, for example, during spinning. If the product cannot withstand heat and loses its properties, then it will allow moisture to enter the bearing.
- Suitable for rubber, not aggressive. A high-quality product does not deform during operation and will not cease to be airtight.
- Thick. Finally, the last point is relevant due to the fact that the product should not leak out while the washing machine is operating.
You should not use automotive products, for example, “Litol-24” or “Azmol”, because they do not have the necessary properties, and therefore can cause failure of the SM bearing unit.
As for high-quality products for household appliances, it is very easy to find. Service centers usually use the following products:
- AMPLIFON. High-quality Italian goods from the MERLONI brand;
- Anderol. Lubricant recommended by the manufacturer itself. It can be found in syringes, as well as in 100 gram jars;
- STABURAGS NBU 12. Also a good moisture-heat-resistant option for the Indesit washing machine;
- LIQUI MOLY "Silicon-Fett". High-quality silicone lubricant made in Germany, sold in 500 gram tubes;
- Huskey Lube-O-Seal PTFE Grease. Another effective waterproof product that can be used to treat bearing seals.
It’s better not to skimp on repairs and buy high-quality lubricant that will preserve the internal components of the “home assistant”.
Getting to the bearings
If the treatment agent is selected, then you can proceed to the next step. To restore normal operation of the machine, you will have to almost completely disassemble it, so if you are not confident in your abilities, it is better to call a specialist. If you are ready to repair it yourself, then strictly follow our guide.
- First, disconnect household appliances from all communications.
- Move the device to the center of the room to gain easy access to all sides of the case.
- Detach the top panel by removing the two retaining bolts at the back.
- Remove the household chemical cuvette.
- Remove the control panel after disconnecting the wiring.
Just in case, it is better to take photographs of connecting the wires to the board, so that during reassembly you will have a clear example at hand.
- Carefully remove the rubber seal by bending the retaining spring and removing the retaining clamp. Tuck the edges of the cuff into the drum.
- Move aside the bottom panel of the case, secured with latches.
- Screw in the bolts that hold the front wall of the CM. They are most often found behind the detergent drawer and under the bottom and top panels.
- Remove the front panel of the machine, having first disconnected the wiring from the control unit to the UBL.
- Disconnect the pipes from the tank, wiring from the water heater, pump, electric motor and sensors.
- Unhook the pressure switch from the side wall along with the wiring and tube.
- Remove the counterweights from the housing.
- Make sure to disconnect all wires and fittings from the tank.
- Remove the drive belt.
- Unscrew the shock absorbers, and then remove and place the tank with the pulley facing up.
- Unscrew the corresponding screws and remove the electric motor of the machine.
As you can see, disassembling an Indesit washing machine is a long and labor-intensive process, so you should be prepared for the repair to take several hours.
We cut the tank, take out the bearings
The final stage of restoration work is dismantling the tank. Washing machines Indesit is distinguished by its non-separable tank, so you will have to saw it along the seam, remove the bearings, install new ones, and then glue the two halves of the tank together. In this situation, it is better to replace the entire bearing assembly rather than try to fix worn parts. New bearings with a seal should be lubricated due to the fact that new parts usually have very little grease, so it’s better to be on the safe side.
The better you lubricate the bearings with the seal, the longer your household appliance will last, and the less often it will need to be disassembled to renew the lubricant. When you disassemble the tank, you will have to carefully knock the old bearing out of its seat. Then carefully remove the protective cover of the new bearing, lubricate it generously, and then close the cover tightly. Next, you need to lubricate the oil seal in an even layer along the inner ring in contact with the bushing. Finally, place the bearings and seals in their seats.
After generous lubrication, you need to connect the tank halves using a strong sealant and fixing bolts. When the tank is assembled, you can begin assembling the “home assistant” in the reverse order. Be sure to check the performance of the equipment with a test work cycle - if the extraneous noise has disappeared and the machine is working properly, then the repair has been carried out successfully.
