DIY cardboard washing machine
Surely every child shows interest in the washing machine. When a daughter or son simply won’t leave the “home assistant,” parents have the idea of buying a smaller copy of the washing machine for their child. Toy machines are quite expensive. Not everyone wants to shell out nearly $20 for something that their child might get bored of after a week. It's better to try making a washing machine out of cardboard. A homemade toy will interest the baby and teach him to help his mother.
Let's collect the necessary materials
It’s easy to make a cardboard washing machine with your own hands. You can involve your child in the process so that he feels like a real inventor. Prepare all materials and tools for construction. Required:
- box. Determine the size of your future cardboard washing machine yourself. A box for shoes, small or large household appliances will do;
- dense transparent material. You can use a document file, durable polyethylene, film;
- pencil;
- marker;
- scissors;
- sharp stationery knife;
- glue that can firmly connect cardboard and film.
This is all you need to make a toy automatic washing machine with your own hands. When working with sharp objects, do not forget to follow safety precautions, especially if you are constructing with children.
How is the machine made?
A cardboard washing machine is easy to make. In just 30 minutes the baby will be able to start an exciting game. What should be done?
- Draw the front of the washing machine on a cardboard box with a simple pencil. Mark a place for the hatch (to make the circle even, you can circle a plate of a suitable size).Draw a toolbar - mark all the buttons, draw a program switch knob, outlines of the powder receptacle.
The hatch is drawn in two circles, and the difference between the edge of the lower and upper circles should be 2 cm.
- Trace the finished sketch with a black marker.
- Using a utility knife, cut the door along the contour of a smaller circle. Do this carefully to ensure an even cut.
- Start cutting out a larger circle. Don't forget to leave 4-5 cm of the circumference untouched in the middle left. This will be the mounting location for the hatch with the cardboard body. This will allow the door to open.
- On thick polyethylene or a document file, outline a smaller cut-out circle, add one and a half centimeters to its edges.
- Cut out a polyethylene circle along the intended contour - it will be analogous to the glass hatch of an “adult” washing machine.
- Apply glue along the edges of the polyethylene and glue the film to the inside of the cardboard washing machine door.
The cardboard washing machine for children's games is ready. The child will be able to open the door, load things into the drum, close the hatch, press the drawn buttons, imagining himself as a real helper.
Create an educational game
The baby will definitely understand how to play with a cardboard washing machine. A mother can only sometimes give her child developmental tasks. What can you ask your daughter or son:
- sort the socks by color before loading them into the drum;
- wash the dolls’ clothes, measuring the washing time by the clock;
- place the clothes in the drum, working with both hands;
- take the laundry out of the machine. You can clarify what specific thing;
- hang clothes on a line and secure with clothespins.
A cardboard washer is a treasure trove of interesting and useful games.The baby will not only develop self-care skills, but also master sorting, learn colors, and learn to measure time.
