Indesit washing machine washes without stopping
The normal operating cycle of an automatic machine involves performing several stages, mainly the main wash, rinsing and spinning. It happens that the washing machine cannot finish the program specified by the user, and does not start rinsing even after 2-3 hours from the moment it was started. What to do if the Indesit washing machine washes without stopping? Let's figure out what the reasons for the “freeze” may be.
Reason for machine cycling
Modern washing machines have programs “recorded” in their memory that allow you to select optimal washing parameters depending on the type of laundry. All modes vary in duration.
If you start the machine, but its operation does not stop after the specified time, you should be wary.
After the washing machine does finish the cycle, test the washer. Run the shortest program and watch the machine while it runs. You may notice one of the following signs:
- The washing machine takes a very long time to fill with water. The reason for this may be low pressure in the communications, a clogged inlet filter, or a kink or defect in the inlet hose. It is possible that the inlet valve is clogged, but then the machine will not start drawing water and will hum;
- the machine fills the tank with water and immediately drains the liquid from the system. Then the washing can continue indefinitely. In this case, the unit was probably connected incorrectly. Perhaps the problem lies in a failed pressure switch;
- The draining continues for a very long time. The reason for this may be a clogged garbage filter, pump, drain hose, sewer, pipe, etc.;
- the cycle is lengthened due to prolonged heating. A layer of scale on the heating element prevents heat transfer. It is also possible that the thermostat is damaged;
- The equipment “freezes” precisely at the heating stage. This means that the problem is in the heating element, it is out of order and does not start heating the water;
- The machine “loops” several times during the cycle. Most likely, the main control unit is not working correctly;
- the drum cannot accelerate to the specified speed, or picks it up too slowly. Most likely, the maximum permissible loading weight of the equipment has been exceeded or an imbalance has occurred.
By carefully observing the machine, it is not difficult to identify the main “symptom” of the malfunction. Let's figure out what to do after the cause of the prolonged washing is identified.
Wrong with drain connection
The first step is to check the water pressure in the tap. If it is very weak, then it is quite understandable why the cycle is delayed. In such a situation, you should wait until the supply is restored.
If the drain hose is not connected correctly to the sewer, liquid will be collected and immediately drained from the system. The pressure switch will send a signal to the control module about the lack of water, and the “brain” will give the command to fill the drum again.
You need to check the connection of the drain hose. It is necessary that it be placed at a level of 50-60 cm from the floor. If the distance is shorter, the liquid will be removed from the system by gravity. It is recommended to connect the drain hose through a siphon, and not directly into the sewer, this way you can avoid problems with spontaneous drainage of water from the tank.
The filling path is clogged
Taking too long to draw water can also delay the cycle. Therefore, you need to carefully inspect the filling system.Check the inlet hose to see if it is kinked or crushed by a foreign object. Then you should do the following:
- turn off the power to washing equipment;
- disconnect the inlet hose from the washing machine;
- rinse its cavity under pressure of water;
- Remove the filter mesh and remove all dirt from it. If there is rust on the element, soak it in a citric acid solution;
- install the filter and hose in their original place.
Inspection of the drain system is carried out as follows:
- disconnect the machine from the network, turn off the water supply;
- Unscrew the garbage filter; it is located in the lower right corner of the case behind a special panel. Before removing it, it is better to cover the floor with rags, as liquid will flow out of the hole;
- clean the filter element, remove debris from the hole;
- put the garbage filter in its original place;
- Disconnect the drain hose and rinse it under high water pressure.
If cleaning the drain filter and hose does not help, you will have to go deeper. It is necessary to lay the washer on its side and check the pump pipe. Find the tube, loosen the retaining clamp and remove the hose from the pump. The pipe is cleaned and fastened in place.
The level sensor is acting up
The next reason leading to the fact that the cycle does not stop is the failure of the pressure switch. In such a situation, the level sensor gives incorrect signals to the “brain” or does not function at all. The control module does not understand that the machine has already been filled with the required amount of liquid, and does not give a signal to start washing.
Before starting any repairs to the washing machine, you should turn off the power to it and turn off the valve responsible for the water supply.
To replace the pressure switch yourself:
- remove the top cover of the case; to do this, unscrew the two bolts holding it;
- find the pressure switch;
- disconnect the contacts of the level sensor, disconnect the pressure hose, remove the fastening screw;
- install a new part and connect in reverse order.
How to check if the pressure switch needs replacement? You can find the sensor under the cover, disconnect the tube from it, put another tube of the same size onto the fitting and blow lightly into it. If you hear a click, it means the mechanics of the element are in order. Complete silence will indicate a malfunction of the pressure switch.
Fill valve
The cause of prolonged washing may also be a faulty solenoid valve. It happens that its membrane “wedges” and water begins to flow freely into the tank. There is no point in repairing the fill valve; it needs to be completely replaced. The algorithm of actions is as follows:
- remove the top cover;
- find the valve, it is located near the back wall;
- disconnect the contacts and all hoses from it;
- unscrew the fixing bolts;
- pull out the old valve;
- install and secure the new part, connect hoses and wiring.
This completes the quick diagnosis of breakdowns. If you still haven’t been able to solve the problem, you’ll have to dig deeper.
Thermistor or heating element
Under the influence of hard water, scale forms on the heating element of the washing machine. This leads to disruption of heat transfer from the element. Heating the water to the set temperature occurs very slowly, which lengthens the wash.
You can try to remove plaque from the heating element, for this:
- remove the top cover, remove the back wall of the case;
- disconnect the contacts of the heating element;
- loosen the central nut, push the screw;
- remove the heating element.
What to do next? There are various reagents for descaling.You can also try cleaning the surface with products available in every home. For example, soak the part in a solution of citric acid for a day, after which the coating should be easily cleaned off.
Be sure to test the heating element with a multimeter; if a faulty element is detected, the part will have to be replaced.
The reason that the cycle still does not stop may be a broken temperature sensor. When the water is heated to the desired degree, the thermistor transmits a signal to the control module, after which the “brain” turns off the heating element. The thermostat is located in the housing of the heating element; if it does not work correctly, the sensor must be replaced.
Control board
Non-stop operation of the washing machine sometimes indicates damage to the main module. The control board may not function correctly due to a burnt triac, broken firmware, or defective track soldering. In any case, it’s not worth getting into the “brain” of the washing machine without having a sufficient level of knowledge. It is better to entrust such repairs to an experienced specialist.
You can remove the control module yourself and remove the board to visually inspect it for damage. Often burnt parts or tracks are visible to the naked eye. In this case, you can try to replace the faulty part.
Why does the Indesit machine start working with stripes?
It washes without stopping, the wash indicator blinks.
The indicator with a checkmark lights up after the end of the wash, the instructions indicate after three minutes. will go out. But this doesn't happen.
