The Indesit washing machine takes in water and does not wash
Household appliances can stop at any time. If the Indesit washing machine fills with water and does not wash, you will have to postpone the wash and try to fix the problem on your own. But first you need to more accurately determine the nature of the malfunction. Let's figure out how to do this.
What could have happened?
If a washing machine full of water does not want to start the program, you do not need to immediately take the machine to the landfill. The problem is probably not serious and can be easily fixed at home. The main thing is to accurately determine the nature and scale of the malfunction. The reasons for resetting the program after drawing water may be:
- a broken drive belt (if the model is not equipped with direct drive);
- broken electric motor (brushes are worn out, the starting capacitor is out of order or the thermistor is triggered);
- a failed heating element (the machine cannot heat the water and start the cycle);
- failed control module.
Look at the display of the machine, as the self-diagnosis system will display an error code, after decoding which the reason for the stop will become clear.
To accurately determine the source of the malfunction, you will have to check each item on the list sequentially. It is recommended to start with a simple belt and end with a circuit board that rarely breaks and is expensive. All instructions and recommendations are given below.
Let's look at the belt
Diagnostics begins with the drive belt. In most cases, it is this that becomes the “culprit” of the braking cycle, since the flying rubber band cannot transmit engine speed to the drum shaft.Such consequences result from improper transportation of equipment, errors in assembling the machine, or untimely replacement.
To confirm your guess, you need to find a belt. In front-loading machines it is located at the back, and in top-loading machines it is located on the side. In any case, it will be enough to unscrew a couple of fixing bolts around the perimeter of the corresponding panel, remove the cover and inspect the washing machine from the inside.
A belt that has fallen off is hard to miss. But before you return it to its place, you should remove the rubber from the machine and assess the condition of the rim. Even minor scratches and damage will lead to a repeat of the situation, so it is better to replace the element. Instructions on what to do for proper installation are as follows.
- Straighten the rim.
- We put the ring on the motor.
- With one hand we pull the belt up, and with the other we put it on the pulley.
- Rotate the pulley counterclockwise, hooking the rubber band onto the seat.
A new drive belt is cheap, so it is recommended to immediately change a loose rubber band. There is no need to call a specialist - the procedure can be easily done with your own hands. The main thing is to run a test wash after replacement and check the performance of the equipment.
Let's look at the engine
The Indesit machine refuses to wash due to another problem - a faulty motor. As a rule, the stop occurs due to worn out electric brushes. In asynchronous models that do not include such elements, the starting capacitor fails. Often the engine does not start due to overheating of the mechanism if the program is turned on at 60-90 degrees several times in a row. In the latter case, the situation is corrected after a “respite” of 40-60 minutes.
The engine may not start due to severe overheating, for example, after 2-3 cycles in a row.
As a rule, the required repairs involve replacing the electric brushes. To do this, remove the motor by unscrewing the retaining bolts and freeing the supplied wiring. We find two plastic cases on the engine body, pry them up with a screwdriver and unhook them. Next, we insert the plates inside each of them, bend them back and take out the fallen parts. We replace the erased “coals” with new ones, compress the spring and secure with a terminal. At the end, we clean up the dust, assemble the machine and turn on the test wash.
The control module is broken
If the water fills up but the wash does not start, then the control board or electronics may be to blame. These faults are more difficult to diagnose and correct, but quite possible. The main thing is to act carefully and consistently.
First we check the electrical. We inspect all wires, terminals and connections, trying to find traces of burning or oxidation. If any are found, you will have to clean the phases or tighten the clamps.
It is more difficult if the problem is in the electronic unit. The fact is that it is the board that is responsible for switching modes and starting the cycle. When the machine takes in a sufficient amount of water, the pressure in the tank increases, the pressure switch is activated, and the module receives a signal that the unit is ready for washing. But if the triac connecting the “brain” of the washing machine to the engine is faulty, then the system will not be able to issue a command and turn on the specified program.
It is almost impossible for beginners to understand the jungle of fees on their own. Firstly, you will have to deal with hundreds of wires and contacts, which only a professional electrician can navigate. Secondly, flashing and repairing the module requires special equipment.Thirdly, one careless movement will lead to death, and a new unit is very expensive.
There are often stories on forums where the machine stopped after drawing water due to a simple clogged filter or hose. Users claim that in this case, cleaning the drain helped them, and there is no need to get into the motor and board. But it is likely that the situation described does not fit our “symptoms.” Most likely, the phrase “does not erase” meant “does not drain” and “freezes”.
If a machine full of water does not wash, it means that the engine cannot accelerate the drum. We have already explained why this happens and how to fix the problem. All you have to do is be patient and start diagnosing.
Hello, the machine washes, then glitches until you unplug it. I understand that it doesn’t rinse.
