What could have broken?

The reason why there is no heating in the Electrolux washing machine can be:

• broken heating element;

Heater circuit

Before starting the test, be sure to unplug the power cord of the washing machine from the outlet and turn off the water supply tap.

After removing the back panel, you can see the tubular heater, temperature sensor and all the wires connected to them. It is advisable to take a photograph of the connection diagram - this will help not to confuse the phases during reassembly. The further algorithm of actions will be as follows:

• disconnect the wiring;
• take a multimeter, switch it to resistance measurement mode;
• lean the tester probes against the terminals of the heating element;
• evaluate the value that appears on the device display. The working heating element will produce a resistance in the range of 26-28 Ohms. A one on the screen indicates a break inside the device, a zero indicates a short circuit of the heater.

If the multimeter display shows “1” or “0”, you will have to change the heating element. In this case, the tubular heater cannot be repaired.

If the resistance values ​​coincide with the norm, the heater is checked for breakdown. The tester should be switched to buzzer mode. Next, the probe of the device is applied to the heating element. If the multimeter beeps, replacing the element cannot be avoided.

To change the heating element, you need to remove the faulty device from the “socket”. Sometimes the task can be made difficult by a dried out heater gasket. To extract an element, you must:

• treat the rubber seal with WD-40 lubricant;
• wait 15-20 minutes;
• disconnect the thermostat;
• Unscrew the screw securing the heating element;
• Use a rocking motion to remove the heater.

When purchasing a replacement heating element, do not forget to tell the consultant the serial number stamped on the body of the part.The ideal option is to remove the heater and go to the store with it to pick up a complete analogue.

Before installing a new tubular heater, you need to clean the “socket”. It is also advisable to stick your hand into the hole and pull out all foreign objects that have fallen into the tank during the operation of the washing machine. The machine is assembled in the reverse order. When connecting the wiring, be sure to focus on the photographs taken so as not to confuse the phases.

Water level regulating element

The reason for the lack of heating may be a broken pressure switch. At first glance, the direct connection between the heating element and the level sensor is not visible, so the owners of the machine are not aware of its “involvement”.

The pressure switch is located immediately under the housing cover. It looks like a regular washer. Removing the top panel of the machine is easy - just unscrew a couple of bolts securing it. A thin tube extends from the plastic “box” of the water level sensor - this is what you need to check first. A clogged tube may cause the machine to malfunction.

To “blow out” the tube, you must carefully remove it. When it is in your hands, inspect the surface for cracks and other defects, and feel the hose. If the problem is not a blockage or damage to the hose, you need to check the resistance of the level sensor coil with a multimeter. If a malfunction is detected, the entire pressure switch will have to be replaced. The new part must be a complete analogue of the removed one.

Electronic "brain"

Having checked the heating element, thermistor, their wiring and the liquid level sensor, and not identifying any breakdowns, we can assume that the reason lies in a damaged control board. There are probably problems with the electronics.

It is impossible to accurately determine the nature of damage to the control module without diagnostics. The problem may be a loose contact, a burnt out tire or track. Perhaps the firmware has crashed, and a simple reboot of the washing machine and resetting all parameters will help correct the situation.

Comprehensive control board testing should be performed by professionals.

Such complex work must be entrusted to specialists. It’s better not to get into the “brain” of the machine without the necessary knowledge and experience. Otherwise, you can only aggravate the situation, further damaging the microprocessor. Then the repair will definitely cost a pretty penny.

“Large wash” without heater

Of course, it is better to immediately start repairing the machine, realizing that it does not heat the water. However, if the master promised to come only in a week, and the dirty laundry is accumulating in the basket, you can find a temporary way out of the situation. Let's talk about an unusual method that will help you wash things efficiently, even if the machine is not heated.

First, decide at what temperature you would like to wash your clothes. If a water heater is installed in the apartment, set it to the desired temperature, for example, 60°C. When the house has hot water supply, everything is simpler - adjust the mixer to the desired water temperature.

Next, turn off the tap responsible for supplying water to the washing machine. Then, as usual, load the machine with laundry, pour the required amount of powder into the cuvette, and fill in the conditioner-rinse aid. Having prepared the machine for washing, turn it on and start the desired program. Afterwards, immediately take the shower head, place it in the powder receptacle and turn on the hot water supply. Liquid will begin to flow into the tank, washing away and dissolving the detergent.

Monitor the tank fill level. When there is enough water, the Electrolux machine will begin the main wash. It is important not to miss this moment, stop the feed and close the cuvette. Next, all that remains is to open the shut-off valve so that when rinsing, the washing machine fills itself. You can move away from the “home assistant”. After washing in hot water, it will drain, refill, rinse and spin the items. All these stages of the cycle will be completed without your participation.

Even if your home does not have hot water supply and does not have a water heater installed, it is possible to use this method. Heat up a couple of buckets of water yourself, for example, with a boiler, and gradually, using a mug or ladle, pour it through a cuvette into the tank of the automatic machine.
