How much powder should I put in the dishwasher?
Among the many dishwasher detergents currently available, ordinary powder continues to be especially popular. This is due to its ease of use and affordable cost. However, in order for the cleaning quality to remain high, the dosage of the product must be strictly observed. How much powder should you pour into the dishwasher so that it is enough for a good wash, but not too much?
How to determine the dose of powder?
It cannot be said that there is a universal optimal dose for all powders. It’s easy to find out which one yours has by looking at the packaging of the product. They usually write there how much powder you need to put in the dishwasher. If the packaging has not been preserved or you could not find the information you are interested in, you will have to rely on the recommendations of specialists. The dosage can be calculated based on the basic characteristics of the powder.
- The average dishwasher can hold 12 place settings. A fully loaded PMM of this volume will require 40 grams of ordinary powder. If the number of sets is less, reduce the dose proportionally.
- In addition to regular powders, there are also concentrated products that need to be put in the dishwasher in much smaller quantities. The dosage of some of these powders is 20-25 grams, and some are only 15. In any case, if you have a concentrate, put it in half as much as regular powder.
Attention! If you really want to know the manufacturer’s dosage recommendations, but the packaging has not been preserved, resort to a trick: find photos of the packaging of your product on the Internet and look at the information there.
If you have the desire and opportunity, you can arrive at an adequate dosage of the powder experimentally. Sometimes manufacturers specifically advise adding more powder than necessary so that it runs out faster and you, as a result, have to buy a new one. Determining your own dosage will help you avoid unnecessary expenses.
How to use the powder?
Putting the powder in the dishwasher couldn't be easier. You need to open the dishwasher door and find the powder compartment on the inside. The powder receptacle is quite large, so you will definitely find it without any problems.
- Open the dispenser lid.
- Pour in as much powder as needed.
- Close the lid tightly.
- Start washing mode.
Important! The dishwasher dispenser has several compartments for different types of products: powders, rinse aids, etc.
If you place the main powder in the conditioner compartment, the machine will only use it at the end, and at the end you will end up with dishes with adhered powder granules and poorly washed off dirt and food residues. To know exactly which compartment is intended for what in the dispenser, use the instructions for the dishwasher, where it is detailed and visually shown what needs to be poured and where.
What if I use the cheapest powder?
Thrifty housewives strive to save a pretty penny even when purchasing dishwasher detergent. Is it possible to replace an expensive powder with a more budget-friendly analogue without harming the quality of the wash? Of course you can. The quality of the powder and its characteristics are not indicated by the brand, not the packaging, or even the price, but by its composition. If you are used to some expensive product, and then find a cheaper one with an identical composition, you can safely make a replacement. In most cases, expensive brands are such only because of their name, but we do not need prestige, but quality.
Another disadvantage of expensive powders is that they are often counterfeited. If you are dedicated to one product and are willing to pay a lot of money for it, you need to be prepared for the fact that you will not get the desired result. But cheap powders are not counterfeited, so once you find your ideal budget option, you no longer have to worry about its quality. But to find it, you will have to use the trial and error method, because not all cheap powders are really worthy.
