Dishwasher modes

modes in PMMThere are thousands of dishwasher models on the market today. Each model has its own set of modes, thanks to which it copes with its task. So what are dishwasher modes?

In this publication we will answer this question, and at the same time we will review the main brands of PMM and their modes. We will try to make it interesting for you.

Differences between a mode and a cycle or program

Experts very often use the terms “Cycle”, “Mode”, “Program” when referring to dishwashers. What does all this mean, and what is the difference between modes, cycles and PMM programs. Let’s not “beat around the bush,” but let’s say frankly – there is no semantic difference between these terms. And the program, and the mode, and the washing cycle mean the same thing. We are talking about a certain algorithm of actions of the dishwasher, thanks to which it can achieve the main goal - wash dishes, and simultaneously solve a number of other problems:

  • leave dishes intact;

Special modes allow you to carefully wash fragile dishes.

  • soak objects with dried food residues;
  • save resources;
  • dry dishes, etc.

Each such algorithm is contained “in the memory” of the dishwasher, and in order to select it, the user must take the initiative by using the control panel. The final result will depend on how correctly the user chooses the program, and this cannot be done without certain knowledge.

Programs for various PMM brands

As we have already noted, different dishwashers have different modes. The names of the programs may be the same, but do not let this fact mislead you.The modes may have the same names, but differ fundamentally in their operating algorithm, especially when it comes to dishwashers of different brands. So we decided to make a short review, looking at the dishwasher modes of some of the most famous brands.

  1. Bosch. The operating modes of a Bosch dishwasher can be called classic. There are not many of them, but they work great and from them you can very easily understand the principle of operation of the PMM. U Bosch dishwashers There are 4 classic modes: fast program (to rinse dishes), intensive (for very dirty dishes), standard program (for everyday washing), economical program (for lightly soiled dishes).
  2. Electrolux. These machines have similar modes. True, Electrolux’s intensive program is somewhat longer. Many models have a pre-soak mode added. A very useful thing. Helps soak dirty dishes that have been drying for several days.
  3. Miele. More expensive and advanced PPMs from Germany, the Miele brand, can boast of special washing modes: “delicate”, “eco”, “disinfection”, “turbo drying”. What is eco mode in a dishwasher? And this is a program that, without reducing the quality of washing, manages to save water, electricity and detergents.

Turbo drying is not a washing mode, but a special drying mode. It allows you to blow hot air onto your dishes, speeding up the drying process.

  1. Blomberg. These machines contain quite a few washing modes in the memory of the control modules. The owners of these “home assistants” have plenty to choose from. This is a BIO program, an automatic program, a half-load mode, etc. The BIO program is specially designed to combat protein contamination.Well, half loading allows you to significantly save water and electricity, since it is designed to load one basket.
  2. Indesit. One of the most inexpensive and popular dishwashers in Russia. These machines have a lot of programs. In addition to those that we have already listed, we can highlight the following modes: “children’s dishes”, customizable mini-program, “Extra”. The “children's dishes” program was created specifically for children and allergy sufferers. She uses a small amount of detergent and rinses it off thoroughly. The mini-program can be set so that the cycle is completed in 35-40 minutes. If the dishes just need to be rinsed, that's enough. “Extra” is a super-intensive washing program that is only suitable for unpretentious and very dirty dishes.Hans dishwasher modes
  3. Ardo. In terms of composition and execution, the programs of Ardo dishwashers are in many ways similar to the modes of Bosch machines, so we will not describe them. There's nothing special there.
  4. A.E.G. But the Germans, as always, have something to brag about; just look at the abundance of badges on the bodies of their washing machines. For example, a night program is often built into AEG. It is beneficial to wash at night, and if the machine also operates in a special mode and does not make noise, it is generally good. The “Extra Hygiene” program will help you wash dishes contaminated with bacteria. In this case, all dirt will be thoroughly removed and nothing will remain in the machine except clean objects, and all microorganisms and dangerous dirt will be removed into the drain.

The list of dishwasher brands could go on for a long time, but we decided to stop here, especially since we were able to cover the main existing washing modes. Other programs may have different names, but their essence is the same.

Useful features

In addition to modes, dishwashers can have a decent number of useful functions that can be actively used during the operation of the PMM. A description of these functions can be found in the instructions for the dishwasher; we will just give a few striking examples so that you understand what we are talking about.

  1. Automatic door opening. This function prevents dishes from “suffocating” inside the washing chamber after washing if they are not removed from there for a long time. In addition, keeping the door slightly open allows the dishes to cool down faster. The essence of the function is that the machine itself opens the door at the end of the wash, leaving a gap of 10-15 cm.
  2. Signal at the end of the program. This function is not new and very simple. Nevertheless, many users praise it very much, because the machine always loudly notifies that it has finished working.
  3. Washing chamber lighting. This feature allows you to unload and load dish baskets without turning on the kitchen light. The backlight is very bright and looks great.
  4. Delay start. By setting a timer for a specific time, you don't have to worry. The machine itself will come out of standby mode, start up, wash the dishes, rinse, dry and turn off. This is convenient when you wash dishes at night.

This is where we will probably end our story. We have reviewed the modes and functions of modern dishwashers, and if you still have questions, we will be happy to answer them on our forum or in the “Comments” section. Good luck!
