Bosch dishwasher modes
Bosch dishwashers have always enjoyed increased popularity in the Russian market due to their excellent quality, attractive design, and increased functionality. The latter is worth examining separately, because the modes of a Bosch dishwasher are very numerous and are not always clear to users. To make the operation of your new “home assistant” easier, we have compiled a detailed guide to the operating cycles of modern Bosch PMMs.
The most “powerful” mode
The most effective mode is considered to be the intensive washing program, which is designed for large dishes with serious stains - frying pans, pots, saucepans, baking sheets, etc. The washing procedure in this work cycle consists of pre-soaking, washing, normal rinsing, rinsing in very hot water and drying.
After activating the most “powerful” mode, you can additionally enable auxiliary options, but this will increase the duration of the work cycle.
On average, intensive washing mode takes from 120 to 180 minutes. The water temperature in this program reaches 70 degrees Celsius.
Default mode
If you start a Bosch dishwasher and immediately start washing without changing anything in the settings, the automatic mode will be activated. Manufacturers created it to simplify the use of household appliances, so that even a beginner can quickly wash dishes without wasting time reading instructions. In this program, the “assistant” herself determines the washing mode, focusing on the degree of soiling of the dishes. It does not matter what kind of dishes will be loaded into the washing chamber, whether large or small.
During operation, the machine quite actively affects the dishes, so experts do not recommend washing fragile items that require careful care during this working cycle. At the same time, in automatic mode it will not be possible to wash large cooking utensils that are covered with stubborn grease, for example, frying pans and baking sheets. Therefore, the default mode is more intended for ordinary plates, forks, spoons and other items that need to be washed every day.
Eco-friendly algorithm
This program was created to conserve the Earth's limited resources and help users conserve water and energy to reduce utility bills. The ECO mode first pre-rinses the dishes, then begins washing, then proceeds to rinse of detergents, and then completes the cycle with drying.
The cycle is characterized by economical consumption of resources - on average about 10 liters of water and only 0.97 kilowatts per hour. The water heats up to 50 degrees Celsius, the operating time is about 120 minutes, and when the “Vario Speed” function is activated – 80 minutes.
60 minute wash
This relatively fast cycle allows you to wash almost all types of dishes in just 1 hour. The only thing it is not suitable for is cleaning fragile items. The operating steps are exactly the same as in the intensive wash mode, but the water heats up even more so that you can wash everything in just 60 minutes.
At the same time, the work of the “home assistant” in the active mode can continue for more than an hour if the housewife decides to use additional options. But even so, the wash will not exceed 90 minutes, remaining a short but effective work cycle.
Shortest cycle
This mode was created specifically for those who need to quickly clean dishes. It includes washing, intermediate rinsing, and then immediately the main rinse. The program is suitable for dishes that have been recently used and are not too dirty.
Water heating is only 45 degrees Celsius, there is no drying to save time. The cycle duration depends on the Bosch dishwasher model and can take from 30 to 60 minutes.
Delayed wash
Also, the creators of household appliances took care of additional functions that help you customize the PMM to your needs. For example, the delayed washing function is needed to load dishes into the washing chamber and delay the start of the working cycle for a period of 1 to 24 hours.
This mode is especially useful for those users who have separate payments for electricity depending on the time of day. The function will also be useful to owners of the Smart Home system.
Night program
This mode goes well with the timer function, because this way you can achieve a significant reduction in utility bills. The water in this operating cycle is heated to 50 degrees Celsius, and the washing duration reaches 240 minutes.
This is the longest cycle among all Bosch dishwashers. At the same time, the intensity of operation of the noisiest components of the dishwasher is reduced and the equipment makes much less noise without disturbing people’s sleep.
Self-cleaning and half load
Let's consider two more useful options for any housewife. The first option is self-cleaning mode. He helps take care of the “home assistant”. When starting this program, make sure that there are no dishes in the washing chamber and that a special detergent or citric acid is loaded into the household chemical dispenser. The cycle will help clean the internal components of the dishwasher from harmful bacteria and various contaminants.
The half-load mode is very helpful in situations where there are not very many dirty dishes, but you need to wash them now, without waiting until they accumulate for a full working cycle. This program also helps save tap water and electricity, plus it reduces overall cleaning time. Another cycle is suitable for situations where dirty dishes are loaded into only one basket.
What happens inside the dishwasher?
It is much easier to understand household appliances if you thoroughly study how exactly they work. The process of washing dirty dishes is not much different from washing them by hand.
- The standard program consists of washing itself, rinsing and drying, plus, if the user wishes, pre-soaking can be added to this list.
- Each individual washing step takes a fixed amount of time, which is usually affected by the heating of the water. Therefore, the higher the water temperature, the longer the working cycle takes.
- Typically, washing dishes takes from 15 to 35 minutes, and the rest of the time is taken by drawing water, heating the liquid in the washing chamber, rinsing, drying and draining the used liquid.
- Do not write off rinsing, because this stage of the cycle helps to completely remove the remains of hazardous household chemicals from the dishes. If there is no rinsing, detergents will enter the user's body, causing serious illnesses.
- The rinse usually lasts about 25 minutes, but you can increase its duration and effectiveness by activating the extra rinse function, which will extend the process by about 20 minutes.
- The final stage is usually drying, when jets of hot air are applied to the dishes for 15-20 minutes. This option is available in every Bosch dishwasher, but it is disabled on accelerated wash cycles.
Complex work cycles with additional functions may differ slightly from the specified algorithm, but common classic modes work exactly like this.
Selecting the desired mode
Modern “home assistants” provide dozens of programs suitable for a variety of cases, depending on the soiling of the dishes, their quantity, speed of operation, resource consumption, and other things. The automatic mode or the definition of washing goals will help speed up cycle selection.
If dirty dishes are covered with burnt grease, food debris, soot or dried areas, you will have to activate the intensive mode. If the dishes are not very dirty, then choose fast modes, and if you just need to refresh the items, then an eco-friendly program will help you.
Don't forget to use the delayed start function to save resources and not disturb your family during the daytime.
Always try to select the correct working cycle, because the efficiency of washing, as well as the service life of the Bosch dishwasher, directly depends on this. Additional information on choosing a program can be found in the official user manual.
