The dishwasher turns on by itself
There are many different types of dishwasher damage. Some of them are standard, for example, when the machine simply does not turn on, completely unresponsive to user actions, does not draw water at all, or turns off right in the middle of the working cycle. But even less often is the situation when the dishwasher turns on by itself. In this case, the “home assistant” can even independently start the sink at night, waking up all the residents of the house, or start at a time when no one is in the room, which can have serious consequences. Why this could happen and how to fix it – we’ll tell you right now.
Why does the PMM turn on and off spontaneously?
There is usually only one reason for this unusual behavior - a malfunction in the control module of the dishwasher. It is important to understand that the problem is not in the keys, but in the contacts of the control board, as well as in its tracks. A normal short circuit could occur because the control module was flooded with water or any other liquid.
For example, foam from the detergent could penetrate into the control unit of the dishwasher. This is possible if you use ordinary household dishwashing chemicals rather than a special dishwasher gel. The reason for the appearance of foam lies in the fact that detergents for standard washing foam very strongly in the PMM, so the foam often gets on the control unit of the unit, which is why a short circuit occurs.
Never use ordinary household chemicals in dishwashers, because it will not lead to anything good, and even if everything is fine at first, after a few operating cycles problems with household appliances may appear.
Another unpleasant reason for the failure of the control module can be common insects. There are often situations when ordinary cockroaches penetrate into “household helpers”, where they leave behind the results of their vital activity. Because of this, short circuits may also occur on the PMM control board.
Finally, pay attention to the location of the dishwasher. If it is in the kitchen in close proximity to the oven or stove, then not only the body of the unit may be contaminated with grease, but also its insides. In this case, condensing grease can damage the electronic elements of household appliances, including the control module.
How to fix the problem?
Regardless of the cause of the breakdown on the control board, you will not be able to fix it yourself. The fact is that without professional knowledge and proper experience, the risk of damaging the node even more is too great. What to do in such a situation? Just contact a service center specialist who can conduct professional diagnostics and advise the best way out of the current situation. In this case there are only two options:
- buy a new control board;
- repair an old part.
The first option is more reliable, however, this element is considered one of the most expensive in PMM, so replacing the unit can cost almost as much as a new dishwasher.The second way to solve the problem is cheaper, but only a competent specialist can help you, who will accurately identify damage to the board, solder the contacts, replace the keys if necessary, and also clean all dirt from the control board. Such repairs will cost several times less than completely replacing the element, but in this case there will be no guarantees that after some time the control module will not fail again.
