Electrolux dishwasher does not fill with water
The well-known Electrolux dishwashers are famous for their durability and high quality dishwashing, but even they can fail over time. When an Electrolux dishwasher does not draw water, this is an obvious call for urgent diagnostics, after which it may be necessary to repair one or several components at once. Let's figure out why this problem may occur and how best to solve it.
PMM requires maintenance
Often this malfunction appears due to non-compliance with recommendations for the care and operation of the PMM, or due to simple inattention. First of all, check that the water supply is normal and water is flowing from the tap. It is logical that if the water supply is not currently working, then the dishwasher will not work without water.
Also make sure that only high-quality detergents are loaded into the “home assistant” at all times. Incorrectly chosen household chemicals can not only adversely affect the quality of dishwashing, but also its speed. To prevent this from happening, try not to skimp on detergents, and choose only proven household chemicals.
Finally, check the water supply valve, which is located in the area where the hose connects to the water supply. Perhaps you closed it earlier and forgot to open it.
Problems stopping water supply
If you followed all the manufacturer’s recommendations, used the “home assistant” correctly, and there are no problems with the water supply, then you should gradually check the most common reasons for the lack of normal water supply.Experts identify the following options as the most common:
- the flow filter or the entire dishwasher system is clogged;
- The fill valve is damaged, causing the water supply to be blocked;
- the door mechanism is broken, making it impossible to seal the machine hermetically;
- the pressure switch is faulty;
- “Aquastop” leak protection has activated;
- The control board has failed.
Let's talk in detail about what to do with the listed reasons.
Is the filter element clogged?
Unfortunately, most Russian cities do not have the cleanest and softest water. Due to numerous impurities in very hard water, the dishwasher filter can quickly become clogged. Due to the blockage, water will either be drawn very slowly or will not be drawn at all.
The filter itself looks like a small mesh, which is designed to prevent impurities and abrasive particles from the water supply from penetrating and harming complex equipment. If it is clogged, it is easy to clean it.
- Shut off the water supply.
- Unscrew the water supply hose.
- The mesh is located where the hose connects to the dishwasher.
- Clean the filter with a small needle, clearing it of any blockage.
For maximum effect, the filter mesh can be soaked in a solution of citric acid for one hour.
After cleaning, install the element in its place, following the instructions in reverse order. Check the operation of the machine, and if the problem persists, then proceed to the next diagnostic step.
Is the intake valve working?
If the water supply valve is damaged, then you should not expect any water supply from it. In such a situation, it will simply stop opening after receiving the appropriate signal.It can break down if it constantly had to work under conditions of changes in water pressure or voltage.
If this happens, then most likely it will not be possible to repair it. To normalize the work of the “home assistant” you will have to buy a new part and install it in place of the damaged one. This procedure is very difficult for people without special education and experience, so it would be better to call a service center specialist to do the repairs yourself.
PMM “does not know” how much water has already been collected
Another common problem is when the control board cannot find out how much water has already been added and how much more needs to be added. This happens when the water level sensor is broken and therefore either sends incorrect data to the control unit or stops sending any information about the water level altogether. Accordingly, when the control model determines that the information from the pressotate is not true, then for safety the module stops operating the dishwasher, which is why the water supply stops.
You can diagnose the sensor yourself, for which it is enough to have an ordinary multimeter at home. Just follow our instructions carefully.
- Disconnect the dishwasher from the electrical outlet and water supply.
- Turn her over on her side.
- Remove the cover from the bottom of the PMM.
- Find a pressure switch that resembles a plastic washer.
- Using pliers, remove the tube from the element.
- Use a screwdriver to unscrew the retaining screws, disconnect the wires and remove the sensor.
Don't forget to take a photo of the wiring so you can use it as an example when you connect the part back.
- Switch the multimeter to ohmmeter mode and check the resistance of the element by connecting the tester probes to the sensor contacts.
If the water level sensor really fails, then only replacing it with a completely new pressure switch will help.
Electronic board requires attention
One of the most annoying causes of a problem is a problem with the electronic board of an Electrolux dishwasher. It is she who is responsible for receiving information from other components of household appliances and sending instructions to all elements of the device. Thus, if the control unit does not work, it will stop the operation of the entire device. It is almost impossible to fix this problem with your own hands, so you will have to contact a service center and hope that the element can be repaired instead of buying a new one.
In this situation, you can only check the functionality of the control module yourself. To do this, strictly follow the points of the plan.
- Open the bunker door.
- Remove all bolts on the door.
- Find the control board.
- Inspect it for damage such as burnt wires and tracks.
If these “symptoms” are detected, you should completely stop using the dishwasher and seek the help of a specialist. However, problems with the electronic module cannot always be seen with the naked eye, so it is better to entrust the technician not only with repairs, but also with diagnostics, and not even try to check the element yourself.
Leak protection
The final check point will be an inspection of the Aquastop system. This is a special valve that can prevent a flooding emergency when the hose develops a leak.If “Aquastop” is damaged, then, like many other parts from today’s selection, it cannot be restored, but you can only buy a new one. How to install a whole part instead of a failed one?
- Shut off the water supply.
- Disconnect the hose.
- Pay attention to the valve - when it is pressed tightly against the sides of the hose, the problem is hidden there.
If a problem is found in the leakage protection, then simply replace it and the operation of the machine should be restored.
Thanks good information.
