Water does not flow into the dishwasher

water does not flow into the dishwasherFew people are indifferent to a working dishwasher, because it frees us from the unpleasant experience of standing near the sink with a rag and detergent that irritates our hands. But everything changes when the washing machine breaks down - the mood drops sharply. When the dishwasher does not fill with water, we understand that we are talking about a breakdown, but what kind of breakdown? How to detect such a breakdown and how to fix it, preferably with your own hands? We will answer these and other questions within the article.

Breakdowns that caused this problem

Why does the dishwasher not fill with water? To answer this question, you need to inspect the washing machine very carefully, systematically checking every possible problematic element. During the inspection process, you will come across a breakdown that will have to be fixed. So, what typical breakdowns lead to the dishwasher trying to pour water, but there is still no water.water supply tap

  1. Water does not flow due to a clogged flow filter or filters.
  2. Water is not supplied due to a broken fill valve.
  3. Water does not flow due to a broken door mechanism.
  4. The pressure switch is broken, which is why water does not get into the bowels of the dishwasher.
  5. Water is not supplied due to the Aquastop system being activated.
  6. The control unit element has failed.

For your information! The above list of breakdowns is not exhaustive, but in approximately 96% of cases, with such symptoms, these particular faults occur.

User errors cannot be ignored either. Quite often, people call a professional, complaining that the dishwasher is not pumping water, but meanwhile the reason for the lack of water supply is a closed tap, a kinked hose, or a trivial shutdown of the water supply to the apartment. It is clear that people are different, and situations are also different, but we hope that you, our readers, are much more savvy and will not do this and make the experts laugh.

The flow filter is clogged, Aquastop has worked

The first reason why there is no water in the dishwasher will be described by us depending on the design of this dishwasher. Let's be clearer. The fact is that most modern Bosch dishwashers have the Aquastop leakage protection system, and if the Aquastop inlet hose works, that is, a leak forms in it, then the valve inside the hose will be securely clogged and water will not get into the machine.

How to solve a similar problem is described in detail in our publication Aquastop hose for dishwasher - check and replacement. But in short, in such a situation you just need to change the Aquastop hose. Such an element cannot be repaired or replaced.

The new Aquastop hose has an ideal valve capacity, which means water will flow into the machine well until the protection works again, protecting your home from flooding. If your dishwasher does not have Aquastop protection and the inlet hose is completely dry and there are no signs of leaks, then the flow filter is probably clogged with water stones and dirt.

Important! Very often, after replacing the risers, rusty water interspersed with debris begins to flow from the tap; such water very quickly clogs the filters, so try not to wash dishes in the dishwasher with it.

flow water filterWhen installing a dishwasher, an experienced technician usually places an additional flow filter on the inlet hose to provide an additional guarantee that no dirt will get into the machine with tap water. But in this case, you need to look after the filters and clean them periodically. If you do not do this, one day either the additional filter or the main one, which is located in front of the inlet valve on the dishwasher, will become clogged and water will stop flowing into the machine. How to save the situation?

  • First, turn off the water.
  • Next, unscrew the hose along with the filter.
  • We remove the filter and unscrew it, then clean out the dirt, rinse with boiling water and screw it onto the hose.
  • We put everything in place and check how the dishwasher works.

If after this the dishwasher hums, trying to pump in water, but there is still no water, you need to continue looking further. But don’t forget to clean the filters anyway, once every 6 months, even if the water in the tap water is soft.

Fill valve broken

The reasons why water cannot get into the dishwasher may be related to the operation of the fill valve. This valve is a rather sensitive element of the dishwasher and even a pressure drop can damage it. In particular, manufacturers of Bosch dishwashers in the instructions for their products indicate recommendations for installing a dishwasher if the pressure in the water supply is above 1 MPa. In addition to flow-through cleaning filters, they recommend installing pressure reducing valves.

If there is no pressure relief valve, and the water pressure is significant, then the dishwasher’s own fill valve will quickly break and either will not open at the right time, or, on the contrary, will remain open and water will constantly flow into the machine. In this case, it is almost impossible to repair the valve, because the mechanism breaks down and will have to be replaced. If the valve is simply clogged with dirt and does not open, then the problem can be solved by ordinary mechanical cleaning.

The water level sensor is to blame

water level sensorThe Bosch dishwasher seems to be humming and the lights are still on, but why doesn’t the water pour in? The culprit of this disgrace may be the pressure switch of the dishwasher. This device, also called a water level sensor, is required to accurately determine how much water is in the washing machine at a given time. But the problem is that at one not very wonderful moment he may refuse to perform his function and then the following will happen:

  1. water will actually flow into the dishwasher, but the control module will not know about it;
  2. the machine will overflow and the pump will begin to pump out excess water in emergency mode;
  3. the control module, thinking that water is not flowing into the machine, generates a system error and stops the program.

It is not difficult to understand that this is exactly what happened to your dishwasher. Listen to whether there is water in the dishwasher, whether the pump is working, pumping out water, and whether the water is babbling in the drain hose and pipe. If all this takes place, then the first version that will need to be checked is a breakdown of the pressure switch. How to check and replace the pressure switch, you can read in the corresponding article published on our website.

Problems with the control module

The reasons that water does not flow into the dishwasher may lie in the electronics of the machine, or more precisely in its control module. Only a few will be able to deal with this element and repair it. Not even all specialists undertake such repairs, but you should definitely at least take a look at this detail. The control module is one of the most important parts of the dishwasher, as it coordinates and issues commands to operate or stop other parts and the entire dishwasher.

Important! It often happens that it is not the entire module that fails, but a specific part. If you find it and replace it, the board will work again, but this is quite difficult to do.

To remove the control module, you will need to disassemble the dishwasher door. It is not difficult:

  • open the washing machine door wide;
  • we hold it so that it does not begin to close at a crucial moment;
  • now we unscrew the small screws that are located at the ends and back of the door;
  • We disconnect the two parts of the door and inside we see a board on fastenings - this is the module.

Visually inspect the board; if there is no visible damage on it, then you shouldn’t go any further; call a specialist who will sort out the problem and perhaps advise you to replace this part.

So, in most cases, if water does not flow into the dishwasher for some reason, you can deal with the problem on your own, without involving a specialist. But in every tenth case of such a breakdown, the opinion of a qualified technician is required! Good luck!

    We still need to figure this out!

    Good day. Built-in dishwasher BOSCH. The faucet indicator is on and the water drain pump is constantly running (even when it is dry and there is no water). The filters are all washed. The screens at the inlet after the tap have been cleaned. I cut programs by pressing two buttons. Modes are selected, but not launched. And again the same indicator lights up. And as soon as you turn on the machine, the pump immediately starts pumping, there’s nothing to drain. Help!

    Hello! The faucet indicator is flashing. We can’t find the cause, there are no leaks, the filters are clean, the washing machine is only 4 months old. SOS!

    Turn on the water
