The dishwasher is constantly draining water
Instead of washing dishes, the dishwasher constantly fills and drains water - users often contact service centers with this problem. What can happen why the machine stops working normally? We think you should deal with this problem yourself, and only then call a specialist, and we will help you with this.
Signs and causes of malfunction
The problem when a Bosch dishwasher constantly drains water is one of the most common. In addition to the fact that you can hear the hum of a constantly running engine, you can list a few more characteristic signs of a breakdown:
- an error code appears on the dishwasher display;
- The dishwasher does not respond when the keys are pressed;
- nothing happens after rebooting the machine by turning it off and on again;
- water is constantly filled and drained;
- You can hear the sound of water and the operation of the pump.
Fixing the leak
Most often, the reason that a Bosch dishwasher drains water all the time is the activation of the Aquastop system. The point is that water gets into the pan of the car, and the pump tries to pump out this water. When such a problem occurs, error E15 appears on the display of Bosch machines. And if you listen carefully, the machine does not take in water.
To fix this problem, you need to drain the water from the pan. In addition, there should be no water in the Aqua Stop sensor. In some Bosch models, such a sensor is located on the right wall of the machine, as shown in the photo. In order for water to come out of the sensor, experts advise tilting the dishwasher by about 450. After this, you can try to start the dishwasher again.In addition, tilting the machine helps in cases where the Aqua Stop sensor gets stuck in the “water” position.
For your information! In dishwashers that do not have an electric Aqua stop, but a regular mechanical one, then when the system is triggered, you need to replace the hose completely.
One of the reasons for the activation of the Aqua Stop system may be a crack in the tank and water collection tank. This happens extremely rarely and self-diagnosis may require complete disassembly of the dishwasher. Even if you find such a crack yourself, replacing the part will require the help of specialists; doing such work at home is inconvenient.
Replacing the intake valve and pressure switch
In a situation where a Bosch dishwasher fills with water and immediately drains it, the likely cause is a faulty water fill valve. When the washing program is turned on, a signal is sent to the valve and it opens, but when a signal is received to close, it does not operate, remaining in the open position. As a result, the dishwasher continues to fill with water, an overflow occurs, and when a certain water level is reached, the pump turns on and begins to drain the water. The process goes in cycles, the problem needs to be solved urgently.
- You need to immediately turn off the water supply tap.
- Then wait a while until the pump stops working; if it continues to hum, then disconnect the machine from the electrical network.
- Now pull out the machine so that it is convenient to reach the connection point of the inlet hose to the dishwasher. In Bosch dishwashers, the hose connects at the back, but there are dishwashers where the inlet hose connection is located under the front bottom panel.
- Disconnect the water supply hose from the machine.Immediately behind it there is a water purification filter in the form of a mesh, and behind this mesh there is an inlet valve.
- Using a multimeter, you need to check the functionality of the electrical part of the valve. The multimeter probes are pressed against the valve contacts and the value is observed, which normally should be from 500 to 1500 Ohms. Otherwise the valve is faulty. It needs to be replaced with a new one.
- If the electrical part of the filling valve is working properly, you need to check the mechanical part. This is much more difficult to do. One way is to open the machine door several times while drawing water. If water continues to fill, the valve is faulty or clogged and must be replaced.
Once the faulty valve is replaced, the problem with constant drainage of water may be eliminated. Run a test wash and check the machine's functionality.
If the problem with the dishwasher taking in and draining water is not in the valve, then you should check the pressure switch. It is responsible for the water level in the machine; if a signal about the reached water level is not sent to the control board, then water will constantly be drawn in or drained from the machine. Detailed instructions for checking this machine part are in the article Replacing the pressure switch in a dishwasher.
Control board faulty
One of the reasons in some models of Bosch dishwashers or machines of another brand may be a malfunction of the control board. More precisely, the pump triac fails. As a result, a situation may arise where the pump drains water all the time, even if there is no water, but the user hears the pump running.
The triac on the control board can be re-soldered.But such work can be done by someone who understands electronics, can read circuit diagrams for different models of dishwashers and can handle a soldering iron. Therefore, such work is most often entrusted to a master.
Thus, there may be several reasons why the dishwasher constantly drains water. In some cases, you can fix the problem yourself, the main thing is to know at least a little about the structure of your dishwasher. Happy renovation!
Tell me, master, Bosch SMS41D08EU dishwasher. The faucet and snowflake are blinking, water is constantly being collected (the electronics cannot stop the flow), when the level is reached, the pump drains the water just as constantly. The cycle goes in a circle - constant gain, reaching a level - drain. When the door is opened, the water supply does not stop. The inside of the washing machine is completely dry, there are no leaks. The float is in place, not stuck.
What could be the problem?! Check what? Thank you very much in advance!!
