How to replace the hatch cuff of an Electrolux washing machine?

Careless operation of the washing machine can damage the door seal. You cannot ignore such a problem: deformation of the seal is a sure way to leakage. Let's look at how to change the cuff on a washing machine, where to start and what tools you will need.

Purchasing a new part

The first step is purchasing a new cuff. To do this, you need to remove the old rubber seal and go to the store with it. The seller will help you find a similar spare part. You can also find the article number on the seal and tell it to your consulting manager.

As one option, use the serial number of the machine. The corresponding marking is on the sticker above the door. Take a photo of the entire label so that you have information not only about the model, but also the year of manufacture and the code of the washing machine Electrolux.

Correct installation of a new part

Putting the seal on is more difficult than removing it. It will take some effort. Any wrong step threatens a possible leak in the future. Step-by-step instructions on how to replace the sunroof seal:

• Clean the installation site with a sponge and soap; do not try to remove all the foam - it will make installation easier;
• find the special marks on the cuff and align them with the marks in the body (the drain holes should be at the bottom);
• insert the rubber seal into the recess and stretch it, holding it with your thumbs;
• insert the inner clamp into the recess and tuck it in a circle;
• Reinstall the front panel and secure it with the bolts;
• place a decorative panel;
• straighten the cuff, insert the outer collar with the spring down into the groove;
• stretch the ring along the boundaries (if the fastener is screw-type, it should first be loosened and only then secured in the device).

A verification step is required. Make sure that the rubber band fits snugly against the drum and the body of the Electrolux washing machine itself.After installation, run a short cycle without laundry and powder (normal rinsing is best) and monitor the operation of the machine. If there are no leaks, it means the repair was successful.

Causes of seal damage

You can replace the seal with your own hands, without resorting to the help of a specialist, and this manipulation will not take much time. But it is still better to prevent damage to the cuff than to change it regularly. Therefore, experts recommend inspecting the part after dismantling and determining what caused the deformation. Most often, a malfunction occurs for a number of reasons.

3. Mold, mildew - if you do not ventilate and wipe the Electrolux washing machine after each wash, colonies of microorganisms will settle on the cuff, which over time can corrode the rubber in some places.

When disassembling the machine, you can take a moment and wash the front part of the drum from dirt and scale.

4. Banal negligence, when the consumer carelessly places and removes things from the drum.
5. Damage from foreign objects - a coin forgotten in a trouser pocket, a bra wire, a hair clip - can pierce the gasket (washing heavy shoes also negatively affects the condition of the cuff).
