Why “run” PMM Indesit without dishes?

It is necessary to launch the PMM for the first time in a special way, not only in order to check the performance of the “home assistant”, but also to clean the household appliances from contaminants. The fact is that during assembly at the factory and storage in the warehouse, dirt, dust and various foreign debris may remain in the device, which the test work cycle will get rid of.

Of course, this is also a great way to make sure your dishwasher is in good working order. You can never rule out the possibility of a manufacturing defect or damage during transportation of equipment from the store. In addition, a cold start will allow you to check the connection to all communications. How well the machine draws and heats water, whether it drains the waste liquid into the sewer, whether anything leaks during operation - all this will be shown by turning on the dishwasher test. Finally, during the test you can understand how to control the device in practice.

“Charging” PMM Indesit with means

It is not enough to simply run the dishwasher for the first time without dishes - it must first be provided with the necessary household chemicals. This list includes:

detergent, which may be in the form of a powder, gel, tablet or capsule.Necessary for cleaning dishes from grease, dirt and other contaminants;
rinse aid, which completely removes remaining dirt and gives dishes a bright shine;
special salt for regenerating the restorative functions of the PMM ion exchanger, which softens hard tap water.

Use only chemicals intended for dishwashers, since ordinary detergents for hand washing foam too much and can damage complex equipment, and ordinary table salt is not able to restore the ion exchanger as effectively as special salt for PMM does.

Today in the store it is not difficult to find specialized detergents for Indesit dishwashers. Each of them performs its job efficiently, either by preventing the deposition of limescale on the water heating element of the equipment, or by improving the quality of washing. Let's start by loading salt, without which you shouldn't even start the wash:

open the washing chamber door;
we find the large lid of the salt tank at the bottom and unscrew it;
if this is the first load of saline solution, then first pour about a liter of water into the compartment;
pour in about a kilogram of salt, using a special funnel that comes with the device;

At this stage, some of the saline solution may spill onto the bottom, so if this happens, you need to either wipe it thoroughly with a rag, or run a work cycle so that all the solution is washed out during operation.

On the control panel of the machine we set the required level of salt consumption, which directly depends on the level of hardness of the tap water.

To determine the level of hardness, the manufacturer leaves test strips in many dishwashers, with which you can find out the water hardness at home. If you don’t have special strips, you can always find out the latest information about water on the official website of the city water utility. Based on this information, you need to set the level of salt consumption. In the future, the machine itself will monitor the salt using special sensors, informing the user about the need to replenish the supply of salt granules. Depending on the hardness of the water and salt consumption, this can happen every few months or once a year.

The only situation when salt is not needed for PMM at all is if you have very soft water in your city.

We've sorted out the salt, all that's left is the detergents. All of them must be added to special compartments located on the inside of the machine door. If you use tablets or capsules, you do not need to add additional salt or rinse aid.

In the case of gel or powder, these products should be loaded into the compartments in a certain amount, which depends on the dishwasher model. More expensive devices are capable of determining the dosage of household chemicals themselves, so large amounts of powder, gel and rinse aid can be loaded into the detergent compartments, which will be consumed depending on the selected operating cycle. Cheap PMM models use all the chemicals loaded into the dispenser, so in this case you will have to add chemicals strictly in the amount specified in the manufacturer’s instructions.

Activation of PMM without dishes

The equipment should be turned on for the first time only after you have added detergents.Be sure to check that the equipment is as level as possible, does not crush any wires or hoses, and is securely connected to all communications. If everything is in order, then you can turn on the machine.

Open the water supply shut-off valve.
Look into the wash chamber and make sure that the spray arms can move freely inside the unit.
Unscrew the drain filter and rinse it under a powerful stream of hot water in order to further clean the element from factory contaminants.
From the control panel, select the detergent you want to use for this cycle.
Activate the appropriate operating mode. For idle starting, the manufacturer recommends choosing the longest mode, which is usually the intensive mode.
Set the water temperature to maximum to accurately wash away all dirt, dust and other contaminants.
You can now close the wash chamber door, which will start the wash.
Do not go far while the device is operating, as you need to ensure that the PMM works without failures or pauses, water is supplied to the machine without interruptions, is steadily heated to the selected temperature, and then goes down the drain normally.
When the cycle is complete, make sure there is no water inside.

After the test and any other work cycle, the machine should be left with the door open for several hours so that it cools down and dries out from the inside. This will help prevent the formation of mold and unpleasant odors in the future. As soon as the equipment has cooled down, you can load the dishes and begin a full wash.
