First launch of a Bosch dishwasher
The long-awaited first launch of a Bosch dishwasher is always a great joy for any housewife, because it means that hand washing dishes is a thing of the distant past. This is why new owners of smart technology often forget about all safety precautions and start using the device incorrectly. In order not to accidentally damage your brand new “home assistant”, you should first study our article today, in which we will reveal all the important nuances of the first launch.
Why should the first activation of the PMM be unusual?
Most often, dishwasher owners are in such a hurry to start washing dishes by machine for the first time that they forget about the banal starting preparations. The fact is that for the first time the equipment should always be started exclusively without dishes. This idle cycle is needed to thoroughly clean the inside of the machine before normal use. It would seem that what could be inside a completely new device that is so dirty that you can’t even wash the dishes immediately after buying household appliances, but in fact there could be inside:
- oil residues after assembling the device at the factory;
- dust and other types of contaminants generated during storage of goods in a warehouse;
- microscopic particles of packaging material.
A test run is still needed to check the functionality of the dishwasher, as well as how reliably it is connected to all communications. It is better to monitor these processes without unnecessary objects inside the washing chamber - this way you can better see the process of collecting water, the operation of the sprinkler, changing work cycles, drying and draining.Therefore, if you find that something went wrong during idle operation, then you will have an excellent opportunity to correct everything in a timely manner.
Do I need to add powders and gels?
It is worth noting that the absence of dishes in the washing chamber during the test does not free the user from adding detergents, without which a dry start should not be carried out. It is household chemicals that will help clean the internal components of the Bosch machine, as well as check the functionality of all important functions.
First of all, you should load the most important thing - special salt for PMM, which helps soften hard tap water. The chemicals must be special, created only for dishwashers, because simple table salt can damage a complex device. The salt granule reservoir is located at the bottom of the washing chamber, the neck of which opens directly into the tray. Before turning on the machine for the first time, you need to fill the hopper with water up to the neck, add about a kilogram of salt, and then adjust the flow rate in accordance with the hardness of the tap water.
Data on water quality can be obtained independently using test strips, which often come with the device, or by finding out on the website of the local water utility, where official information on hardness and other water parameters should be published monthly.
After the salt granules, you should pay attention to the detergent reservoir located on the PMM door. In Bosch technology, it is most often equipped with a convenient hatch with a hinged lid. You need to load it with detergent, which can be in the form of a gel, powder or tablet, and also add a special rinse aid that gives clean dishes a pleasant shine.Products should be loaded into the compartment up to the mark, but if we are talking about tablets or capsules, then they should be used one at a time for each working cycle.
Select the appropriate mode and start the equipment
Basically, dishwashing equipment is very similar both in control and in the range of functions with different washing modes. Basically, the following five classic modes are found in Bosch PMMs:
- Intensive. The designation icon looks like a saucepan - it means the maximum heating of water is up to 70 degrees. The program was created for the most difficult stains to wash pots, baking trays and other cutlery. During operation, the machine uses the maximum amount of water and electricity, so it is best to use this mode once a week, having accumulated enough dirty dishes for it;
- Machine. The most popular program, which itself selects the intensity of work depending on the load, after which it washes the dishes at a temperature of 45-65 degrees Celsius;
- Eco. The most gentle option, using a minimum amount of water and electricity. Heats the temperature exclusively to 50 degrees;
- Careful. The icon looks like thin glasses - it signals a mode created for the most fragile glass and crystal dishes, which require careful care;
- Preliminary. Soak mode to partially clean the dishes before the main wash program starts.
Bosch specialists recommend turning on the device for the first time using the “Eco” or “Automatic” washing program. These modes are ideal for testing the heating element, water supply and drainage, and will also be able to completely clean the machine of all contaminants remaining after assembly at the factory and storage in the warehouse.
