Restarting a Samsung washing machine
There are often cases when users of a Samsung washing machine need to reset the program and reboot the device. The reasons for this need may be different - someone remembered that they did not put all the things in the drum or forgot to check the contents of their pockets, others realize that they made a mistake when choosing a mode. If you encounter a similar problem, you need to stop the equipment, reset the programs and restart the Samsung washing machine.
Stopping the program and restarting the SM
Before rebooting the Samsung washing machine, its operation must be stopped correctly, even if the device is frozen. Why? In the event of a sudden power outage or other emergency actions, the control module may be damaged, which will entail costly repairs. Below you will find brief instructions on how to safely reset.
- Press the “Start” key and hold for 4 seconds.
- Next, the indicators located on the control panel should be activated - they will light up green and then go out.
- The washing process should stop.
- In older models of washing machines, you need to set the selector to the neutral position.
If all actions are performed correctly, the machine seems to “quiet”. At the same time, you can watch how the light bulbs come on and go out. The absence of such signs indicates the presence of a malfunction; the system generates an error signal. That is, you will have to reboot the unit. In this case, you should act in strict accordance with the rules:
- The selector is placed in the first position.
- Then press the “Stop/Start” button for 5 seconds.
- Disconnect the device from the power supply.
- After a few minutes, it is reconnected to the power supply and the washing mode is turned on.
- If after pressing the button the equipment does not work, you must immediately remove the plug from the socket.
Note! If you suddenly turn off the power to the machine, you can damage the electronic systems!
Restart required due to error code
Over the years of using a washing machine, the instructions for its use are often lost. What to do if you need to fix a breakdown as soon as possible. Below is a list of key malfunctions that owners of a Samsung washing machine have to face.
1E. Indicates a problem with the pressure switch. The causes of the malfunction can be different: the presence of a chip or damage to the level switch tube; disconnection, blockage or jamming of the tube; failure of the level relay or control module, damage to connections or wires of the pressure switch.
3E. Signals that the motor winding is damaged, the contacts of the tacho or electric motor are broken. Also, a similar problem can arise when the electric motor is wedged due to a foreign object getting into it.
3E1. Indicates that the tank is overloaded, preventing the normal functioning of the engine. Also, the reason may lie in a malfunction of the motor contacts or a breakdown of the tachometer.
3E2. Indicates a weak tachogenerator signal. This may be due to broken contacts or breakdown of the tachogenerator.
3E3. The reason lies in poor module contacts and displacement of electric motor elements. It is also possible that the tachometer transmits incorrect signals.
3E4.The essence of the problem is a breakdown of the electric motor circuit, the motor itself, a malfunction of the tachogenerator, or a violation of the integrity of the contacts.
4E. The hoses are connected incorrectly (the cold and hot water supplies are reversed). There is no water supply, possible reasons: the hose is disconnected from the dispenser, it is leaking or pinched, the contact of the fill valve is broken, or a foreign object has entered it.
4E1. During drying mode, excessively hot water (over 70°C) is supplied. It is also possible that the cold hot water connection hoses are reversed.
4E2. In delicate wash programs, the temperature of the supplied water exceeds the established standards (over 50°C).
5E. Indicates that there are problems with water drainage. The drain pump impeller may be damaged, the drain hose may become clogged, or debris may get into the drain path. This is also a signal about poor contact of the drain pump or a malfunction of certain elements.
8E. Indicates problems with the electric motor. It is likely that the tachometer has failed, which leads to incorrect rotation of the drum. The motor contacts may be broken or the control circuits may not be functioning properly.
- Indicates that there are errors in the communication system. There is a violation of the exchange of information between the control and display modules. You should check that the connections are functioning correctly and make sure that the connectors are well connected. If necessary, replace modules.
- Heat. The temperature exceeds 55°C, and the machine does not drain water. You have to face this problem if the selected washing mode involves heating the water to more than 55°C. In this case, the water should be drained before discharge. It is also possible that the temperature sensor is not working correctly or that errors were made when connecting various components.
- Indicates problems in the ventilation system. The wiring may be damaged and the fan will not turn on. It is possible that the capacitor connector may fall out. The trigger capacitor could be broken. In this case, it will not be possible to find the problem with a multimeter, so the most effective solution is to replace the capacitor. In addition, the fan may not start if there is no lubrication in its bearings or if the blades are jammed.
OE (OF). Indicates water overflow. The reason may be a clogged pressure switch tube (level switch). This may also be due to foreign objects getting into the filling valve or a breakdown of the pressure switch (level sensor).
- Excessively high temperature level (the problem is typical only for washer-dryers). This code may appear as a result of a malfunction in the drying heating element circuit, a breakdown of the temperature sensor, or failure of the connectors or circuits of this sensor.
- Indicates an imbalance. The laundry was piled up. Simply transferring it is enough.
Once you figure out what the cause of the problem is, you can carry out the repair yourself. Knowing which code indicates a particular breakdown, you can easily understand what exactly should be done to get the washing machine back into operation.
