Resetting the Gorenje washing machine

New household appliances always work perfectly, so there is almost no need for the user to interfere with its operation. However, the more active the use of the automatic washing machine, the more often situations may arise in order to resolve which it will be necessary to restart the Gorenje washing machine. There is no need to be afraid of this process, because there is nothing complicated or dangerous in it. We will analyze in detail in which cases a restart is necessary, as well as how to carry it out correctly.

Why reboot?

It is believed that rebooting the SM is permissible only in exceptional situations when there is no other way out. If you have good reasons for such a restart, then it is better not to risk it and not stop the work cycle in this way. In what situations is it permissible to reboot the device?

• The equipment stopped working right in the middle of the wash, displaying an error code on the display.
• While the program was running, the lights in the house were turned off.
• The housewife needs to urgently stop the machine in order to remove a foreign object from the drum that accidentally got there. This could be not only a mobile phone, headphones or something else that will quickly break down during washing, but also a small sharp object that can harm the “home assistant” herself, for example, a paper clip or hairpin.
• The user needs to change the erroneously selected mode so as not to damage the laundry with an inappropriate washing program.

We restart the machine

Most Gorenje washing machines do not have a separate reset button. Because of this, inexperienced users often resort to a simple but dangerous method of turning off the equipment - they simply unplug the power cord from the outlet. After that, they wait a couple of minutes and connect the device to the network again.

It's not worth doing this. It is permissible to disable the equipment in this way only if it does not respond at all to pressing keys from the SM control panel. The danger lies in the fact that such a sudden loss of power to the system can damage the control board of the device.

But then how can you restart the washing machine if you can’t disconnect it from the power supply? In this case, the manufacturer has provided much safer restart methods. Let's describe one of them.

• First, press the “Start/Pause” key, which most often remains in working condition.
• Using the programmer, activate the separate spin program.
• Adjust the speed of rotation by selecting the “No spin” position.
• Finally, activate the Gorenje washing machine's work cycle using the "Start" button.

The described manipulations will allow the machine to immediately drain the waste liquid and quickly complete the job. After this, you can open the hatch door to safely remove the laundry.

In rare situations, the washing machine stops responding to the “Start/Pause” key. In this case, the power button will help you restart the equipment; you need to press it for a few seconds for the system to turn off. After such a restart, you will have to wait 20-30 minutes, and then try to turn on the machine again.

If you are lucky, the SM will start in normal mode, allowing you to select and start any work cycle.It is best in this situation to immediately turn on the self-diagnosis mode so that the unit checks its key components and reports exactly what error led to the system failure.

If you are unlucky, and after restarting the machine continues to display an error code on the display, you will have to get rid of the waste fluid yourself using a garbage filter. What should I do for this?

• Make sure that the Gorenje washing machine is disconnected from the power supply and water supply.
• Place dry rags or unnecessary towels on the floor to avoid damaging the floor covering.
• Place a large container in front of the front panel of the washing machine to collect water, placing it near the garbage filter.
• Unscrew the filter cap half a turn so that the water begins to flow into your container.
• When the fluid has completely drained, remove the debris filter and remove any remaining water from the system.

Can't open the door

In certain situations, an error code informs the user that the door locking mechanism has failed.In this case, the door blocking will not go away even after an emergency drain of the waste liquid, so you will have to open the hatch yourself. Under no circumstances should you try to do this with brute force, because there is a high risk of damaging the fragile mechanism. How to properly open the hatch door?

• Disconnect the automatic SM Gorenje from the network.
• Check the drum to make sure there is no water in it.
• Find a thin rope or regular fishing line, the length of which should be about 30 centimeters greater than the circumference of the machine door.
• Pass the rope through the gap between the hatch and the body of the washer.
• Pull it perpendicular to the floor, and then pull the rope forcefully on both sides.

If it turns out that you don’t have a suitable rope or fishing line at home, then you can use a thin construction spatula. It must be carefully inserted into the gap between the hatch and the body wall, to the place where the locking mechanism is located. Afterwards, you need to use a spatula to find the “tongue” of the lock and try to clamp it so as to open the door.

This way, you will be able to access the laundry inside the drum, but this will not solve the problem with the lock. To fix the problem, you will have to carry out diagnostics and either restore the hatch locking device or the door locking mechanism.
