Is it possible to open a Bosch dishwasher during operation?
New dishwasher users, even after reading the instructions, may not fully understand how this or that element of their new “home assistant” works. For example, is it possible to open a Bosch dishwasher during the operating cycle, or is it better not to do this so as not to interrupt the wash? We will answer this and many other popular questions from beginners in this publication.
What will happen when opening the door?
Modern household appliances have a number of protective systems to ensure that users do not accidentally damage the equipment due to an interrupted operating cycle. This list includes both locking and sensors for stopping the current mode, so if you were able to open the dishwasher during operation, then nothing bad or dangerous happened.
Most Bosch dishwasher models are equipped with a door lock system. Once it has been activated, you cannot just open the PMM door. This blocking does not work immediately, but after some time after the start of washing.
Also, most new dishwashers have special emergency stop sensors installed inside the system. They are activated the moment the user opens the door during washing. In this case, the impeller will urgently stop rotating, and water will stop flowing into the nozzles.
Despite all the safety mechanisms, do not lean too far towards the washing chamber when opening the door, so as not to accidentally get burned by the hot steam that will escape from the machine.
Therefore, you should not be afraid to open your Bosch dishwasher during washing - this will not break the equipment, but may interrupt the washing.Engineers have created household appliances in such a way that the user can open the door if he needs it, for example, to return forgotten dishes. But it’s better not to forget dirty dishes so as not to interrupt the work cycle and waste resources.
Remember the operating rules for PMM Bosch
For ideal cleaning results and to extend the life of your dishwasher, standard precautions and operating instructions should be followed. We have collected the most important of them in the list:
- Place dishes and utensils in baskets strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations - place large items on the bottom and small items on top.
- If the “home assistant” has a separate tray for cutlery, then forks, spoons and knives should be placed in it.
It is better to buy a cutlery tray if the basic dishwasher did not have one.
- Load powder, gel, tablets, rinse aid and special salt for PMM into strictly designated compartments.
- Do not place dishes with food residues in the washing chamber - the debris should first be removed with a napkin or sponge.
- Do not place cutlery too close to each other, leave at least a small gap between them so that there is free access to the entire surface of the dish.
- Place long cutlery such as ladles and skimmers in a horizontal position.
- Place knives and other sharp objects with the blade down in separate trays.
- Before starting work, be sure to check that the dishes do not interfere with the free movement of the spray arms.
- Be sure to ensure that the equipment is grounded to ensure its safe use.
- It is better to add household chemicals to the PMM while wearing rubber gloves so that the product does not accidentally cause a chemical burn.
- Do not touch the heating part of the dishwasher during an active cycle.
- If you find any problems with the operation of the Bosch dishwasher, it is better not to wait for the washing to complete, but to stop the cycle, disconnect the household appliances from the network and either call a service center specialist for diagnosis and repair, or fix the problem yourself.
Follow these guidelines to ensure your dishes are always crystal clean after washing.
