How to bleach laundry with aspirin in a washing machine?

Many housewives resort to whitening with aspirin. The acetylsalicylic acid contained in its composition easily penetrates the fibers, breaks down foreign substances, removing even the most complex and old stains. Despite its effective action, the tablet is absolutely harmless to the fabric and does not damage the threads even with constant use. It remains to figure out how to bleach things with salicylic when washing them by hand or by machine.

Choosing a drug

Finding aspirin is not difficult - this is the simplest and most inexpensive medicine available without a prescription in almost every pharmacy. True, there are several variations of the drug on sale. You need to choose the most suitable type of tablet.

• Aspirin effervescent tablets UPSA. It is acetylsalicylic acid, supplemented with vitamins and other auxiliary components. This product is not suitable for whitening for two reasons. Firstly, the buyer will overpay for the “improved” composition and catchy packaging. Secondly, it is unknown how third-party substances will behave in the wash.
• Aspirin-S. Here the secondary component will benefit cleansing, as it will speed up the dissolution of the tablet even in cold water.
• Regular aspirin. The usual version in a paper blister is also suitable for bleaching, although the effect of the acid will be slow.

Aspirin-S is best suited for whitening, as it dissolves faster.

After choosing a tablet, you can start cleaning. The procedure varies depending on the type of washing: it is easier to bleach clothes with aspirin in a washing machine than by hand. Let's look at the pros and cons of each method.

Automatic whitening

You can bleach with aspirin in the washing machine. You need to find 2 acid tablets, crush them and add them to the powder in the main compartment of the detergent tray. Afterwards all you have to do is select the appropriate program and start the cycle.

There is another option - put the tablets directly into the drum. Aspirin is placed on the laundry in the required dosage, after which the wash is started and the result is evaluated. As a rule, after just one application, things that have turned yellow and gray become white again.

If bleaching was insufficient, then you should soak the soiled clothes in an acetylsalicylic solution before re-washing. Dissolve 10 tablets in 10 liters of water, and put the laundry in the resulting liquid and leave for 6-8 hours. Afterwards we send things again with powder and 2 pcs. aspirin in the washing machine.

You cannot often wash with aspirin in a washing machine - the acid can damage the plastic and metal parts of the machine.

You should not overuse aspirin in machine wash. Acid will not harm things, but the “insides” of the machine, the heating element, pipes and cuff, may suffer with constant use. In order not to break the equipment, you should give preference to manual cleaning.

Traditional whitening

It is better to bleach things with aspirin in the traditional way - when washing by hand. It takes longer, but is many times more effective. The main secret is to calculate the correct dosage of the product. So, about 5 tablets are required for one white shirt, and at least 5-10 for a standard basin. The final amount depends on the volume of laundry washed and water: the more acid, the faster the stains will be removed.

Whitening with aspirin on hands proceeds according to the following scheme:

• grind the tablets to powder;
• dissolve the powder in warm water;
• Soak the items in the resulting solution for at least 10 hours.

It is recommended to soak clothes in the evening so that the aspirin can “work” throughout the night. In the morning, whitened items are washed with ordinary powder or laundry soap. Then rinse and send to dry. As a rule, stains are removed after the first time. If the dirty mark still remains, repeat the procedure.
