OE error in LG washing machine
The OE error on an LG washing machine usually occurs at the most inopportune moment in the middle of a washing program. The drum is full of laundry and soapy water, the machine is frozen, and two strange letters OE are displayed on the display. In this article, we will have to decipher the error with the OE code, determine the causes of such an error, and outline ways to eliminate such causes.
Why does the OE error occur in an LG machine?
The OE error in an lg washing machine occurs when the program starts the drain pump to remove water, but the water nevertheless remains in the tank. Experts briefly define this error as follows: “water does not drain from the tank of the machine.” The error does not occur immediately after the pump failed to pump out water. The system has a kind of timeout that allows you to repeat the drain attempt up to 5-7 times and after 5 minutes, if the water still remains in the tank, the system stops the machine and displays an OE error.
Why can’t the pump remove water from the tank of the lg machine, why does a system error occur with the OE code? Specialists from the washing machine manufacturer identify several typical causes of such an error.
- Somewhere in the drain system (filter, hoses) a serious blockage has formed.
- The sewer system (sink siphon, sewer pipe) is severely clogged.
- The drain pump is broken.
- The water level sensor is faulty.
- The electrical controller is faulty.
If a malfunction occurs in the electrical controller, this may manifest itself not only in the issuance of a system error OE. Be careful, observe the “behavior” of the machine when setting different washing modes.
Note! Don’t rush to look for a problem with your washing machine; first check the sewer pipes for blockages. Turn off the hot and cold water taps completely and see how fast the water goes down the drain.
Finding the source of the error: procedure
Where to start searching for the source of the OE error, what exactly to do? First of all, you need to remove dirt and foreign objects from the most accessible places of the washing machine – the first in line is the garbage filter. Many people know how to clean such a filter, especially those who read the instructions before starting to use the washing machine. But if you don’t know anything about cleaning the filter, then read the article about how to clean the filter.
If the lg washing machine filter is clean and after restarting the machine the OE error appears again, then the reason is not in the filter, you need to continue searching. The water still does not drain, which means the blockage may be in the middle between the sink siphon and the washing machine filter. The most important thing is to check the drain hose and its connection to the siphon.
Note! If the drain hose of your lg washing machine is not connected to a siphon, but is inserted directly into the sewer pipe, check the connection between the pipe and the hose. Very often blockages form there.
Disconnect the hose and wash it with water. If there is a serious dirt plug inside the hose, then you can use a long steel wire with a hook at the end. If the hose turns out to be clean, then you need to look further. Experts advise listening to the operation of the drain pump, because in LG washing machines, the pump is quite noisy. If the pump does not make a sound or makes strange sounds, it is most likely the problem.
Also, the OE error can be caused by a faulty water level sensor or electrical controller. For information on how to check and repair the water level sensor, read this article. As for a possible malfunction of the electrical controller, in this case you will have to contact a specialist. Because the It is strictly not recommended to test the electronics of a washing machine yourself..
The cause of the OE error has been determined: how to fix it?
How to eliminate the cause of the OE error in an LG washing machine? Everything will depend on what is the cause of the OE error and whether it can be eliminated on your own. Experts give some general advice on how to eliminate the causes that gave rise to the error with the OE code; we will outline these tips.
- Thoroughly clean the drain pump filter, remembering to remove all foreign objects from it.
- Disconnect the drain hose and wash it free of dirt. It is best to use strong pressure of hot water.
- Clean the siphon and the connection between the drain hose and the siphon. To do this, the siphon will have to be disassembled and all its parts washed.
- Using a voltmeter, check the voltage going to the pressure switch and drain pump sensors. One of the sensors may need to be replaced.
- Disconnect the sensors from the pressure switch and drain pump one by one, and then turn on the washing machine. Rebooting the system with sensors connected may resolve the issue.
To summarize, if one day your washing machine suddenly stops working and displays an OE error, do not rush to panic. Study the error code and start troubleshooting. In about half of the cases, the problem is solved on your own in 10-15 minutes, good luck!
Thanks a lot. Your information is very useful. I encountered this problem myself and your site helped me a lot. Thank you!
The machine washes, but when the time comes to drain the water, the pump hums quietly and the water does not drain and there is water under the machine
Same thing and can't find it
Apparently there is an epidemic. It seems to be new, and not 2 years old, but the same problem arose
De is lit.
LG gives an error in the middle of the wash, after rebooting it works fine. I checked the drain - it was clean, the tube to the water sensor was also clean.
Good day, can you tell me how to reset the washing machine?
Turn off and on the washing machine
Thanks a lot! Helped
Thanks a lot! I am a housewife and read very often, your recommendations are very useful, thanks again!
Thanks for the consultation!
Good day to all. The reason is the same, it washes perfectly. But at the end of the wash, it does not drain the water. At first it gave an OE error, only in long-term modes. Whatever took less time, washed with a bang.
Afterwards, it stopped giving the OE error. In all modes. It just froze, the timer on the display also froze. And a barely audible sound came out. I had to stop the given program. Turn on the drain and then start rinsing. This is how we finished the wash.
Now we have found (the switch) when it finishes washing, but it does not want to drain the water. With a little effort, with my palm, I clap the side wall to my right, and only in one place. That is, in the upper corner closest to me. And everything starts to drain and finishes washing with a bang. Maybe someone knows the reason? Thank you in advance.
Oh thanks, that helped! And the washing machine is already tired.
It washes fine. But when the time comes to drain the water, it freezes. Time stops, only a quiet, boring sound. Until you lightly hit the right side wall, exactly at the top nearest goal. If anyone knows the reason, thanks in advance.
The problem is with the pressure switch, the level sensor, it is located on the top right, closer to the front. I tap it and it works.
Place the washer on its side with the pump in the corner.
Thanks for the info. I took out the pump and disconnected the electrical connection. part from mechanical. Disassembled the electric part and cleaned the I.K. There was a lot of dirt inside. I washed it and installed it. Everything worked!
Let me add that I had a rubber band wrapped around the pump impeller, which prevented the pump from spinning, and the OE error appeared.
It’s easy to get there – open the cover where the drain hose is, there is 1 bolt, unscrew and remove the cover (it’s on clips). The pipe is screwed to the body with 3 bolts and the pump is screwed to it from the back, also with 3 bolts. Don't forget to drain the water first.
The machine issued OE. Didn't drain the water when rinsing. I opened the filter, flooded the entire kitchen, and two washers came out with water. Hurray, the machine is working. Now I'll check my pockets more carefully. Thanks for the help!
The reason turned out to be a clogged filter. Thanks for the info.
Hello. Thank you, point 1 helped. Although I clean the filter often. And there was so much dirt here. But until it showed an error, I rebooted and installed another program. And again, already during rinsing and spinning, it simply hummed, as if it was taking in or draining water. But neither one nor the other happened. I was already scared, I was wondering what kind of spare part would be replaced. And this is money again.
Thank you, it worked out.
