Error I30 for Electrolux dishwasher
What to do if error I30 paralyzes the operation of an Electrolux brand dishwasher? Will you really have to get used to washing dishes by hand again? We suggest not to panic ahead of time, but to try to figure out the reasons for this error code yourself. We will talk about how to do this, as well as how to eliminate the detected cause in this publication.
What does the code mean?
The operating instructions for the Electrolux dishwasher provide a brief explanation of error code I30. It seems like code I30 indicates that the Electrolux machine has overflow protection. The characterization is rather dry, considering that there can be quite a few reasons for overflow. How to understand what exactly happened to the dishwasher?
In this case, it is necessary to highlight a list of reasons for the I30 code in order to at least roughly outline the search range. We will begin with this action, having first disconnected the idle dishwasher.
- It is necessary to inspect the dishwasher for leaks, and if any, look for the places where these leaks occurred.
- Inspect the garbage filter and drain path for blockages.
By the way! A blockage can occur not only in the dishwasher, but also in the sewer, and the dishwasher will also respond to this with error I30, be careful.
- Inspect the drain pump for blockages and damage.
- Check the filling valve; perhaps it is clogged and does not close completely or is completely out of order.
It's all about the leak
We have decided on the list of possible problems that gave rise to the I30 code, now you need to find the specific malfunction that has arisen in your machine, and then figure out how to fix it. The vast majority of Electrolux brand dishwasher models have a tray into which water is collected in case of leakage. The first thing you need to do is check if there is water in the pan. If there is no water, then feel free to skip this step and move on to the next one. If there is water, drain it, dry the pan with a hairdryer, and then:
- unscrew the top cover;
- remove the side walls;
- Do not remove the pan yet, but instead start the machine.
You may ask, why start a faulty dishwasher, and even in a half-disassembled state? Everything is very simple, because this is how you can see where the water is running or dripping from. Once you manage to identify the leaking part or assembly, you can carefully remove the pan and replace the faulty element. As a last resort, you can seal the leaking area with sealant, although experts strongly do not recommend doing this, since this repair is short-lived. But if you don’t have the necessary part at hand and there’s no way to buy it in the near future, such repairs are better than being left without a dishwasher.
If you are forced to use a sealant for temporary repairs, carefully monitor the dishwasher during operation and when the opportunity arises to replace the damaged part, do so immediately.
Blockages
After making sure that there is no leakage, we will check the dishwasher for blockages. It’s best to start checking not even the dishwasher itself, but the drain hose and sewer system; it’s easier than climbing inside the housing. The hose is removed and inspected visually, but with the sewer drain you can proceed as follows:
- open the mixer tap, ensuring decent water pressure;
- see how the water goes down the drain;
- if the water doesn’t drain well, then we clean the drain with a plunger or cable; if the water drains well, we look for a clog in the dishwasher.
We start searching for clogs in the dishwasher with the garbage filter. Replacing and cleaning the dishwasher filter, usually helps solve this kind of problem. According to statistics, the I30 code appears in 27% of cases precisely because of the garbage filter, so regular cleaning of it is a primary task even during normal operation of the dishwasher, not to mention cases when a breakdown occurs.
Next, we need to remove the pan and check all the pipes and other elements. This work is meticulous, requiring some effort and time, so it would be better to use the help of a specialist who will do everything quickly and professionally.
Problems with the drain pump
Overflow can also occur due to the drain pump. The pump may work poorly or not work at all. Usually an error with code I30 appears if the pump is clogged with something, that is, the impeller is blocked by foreign objects wrapped around it, or a water stone. It is also possible that the impeller is damaged and requires replacement, which is why the pump does not pump out water normally. In both cases, the pump must be checked, and depending on what disassembly of the part shows, a decision must be made.
Despite the fact that the Electrolux dishwasher has a built-in ion exchanger, the water quality leaves much to be desired. Along with water, a large number of impurities enter the car, which over time spoil the internal parts.
We disconnect the pump, disassemble it and look. We clean the blocked impeller, check the rotation and put the pump back together. If the impeller is broken, replace it with a new one.If the impeller is in order, but the pump clearly does not show signs of operation, you should test it with a multimeter. If a malfunction is detected, the entire pump must be replaced.
Fill valve faulty
Let's go from the other side. The problems that triggered error I30 may not be related to problems with water drainage, but to problems with its flow into the dishwasher. The filling valve could have failed, which according to the program opens when you need to fill the machine with water and closes when water is filled. The following can happen to the valve:
- failure of the electrician or electrical line;
- the mechanism fails;
- the mechanism becomes clogged with debris, causing the valve to stop closing completely.
The fill valve should be removed and disassembled. We won’t explain how this is done, everything is easy. We check the valve for blockages, measure the resistance of the contacts with a multimeter, and see how the mechanism works. We also check the electrics supplying the valve. If a malfunction is detected, we either change the wiring or replace the valve.
So, in general terms, we looked at what the I30 code on an Electrolux dishwasher means, what faults cause this error to appear, and how to find and fix these faults. We hope the information we present will be useful to you. Happy renovation!
Great article! Helped a lot! Thank you that there are people who share useful tips!
I won’t say that the topic is completely covered, but it gives the idea that you can cope on your own. That’s what we did after spending the day :)
The pipe in the kitchen was clogged, the machine was unable to drain the water and a stream began to flow and flooded the bottom pan, which I found out after analyzing the Internet.
I cleaned the pipe, the motor drained the water, but then continued to work “draining” the empty pan. At the same time, the i30 error did not go away even after disconnecting from the network.
It turns out that under the washing machine there is also a tray with mechanisms and electrics and a float “from leaks”. The tray is located behind the front panel at the bottom of the machine, there is no need to pull out the machine, we unscrew the panel while the machine is disconnected from the network!
We dry the pan with a syringe, and use rags and napkins to lower the float. We turn on the machine and there is no error, the machine works.
This was an analysis of a clogged/cleaned drain pipe. If the pan is flooded due to a breakdown, the course of action is more complicated.
Thank you. They helped a lot. i30 protection worked.
There is water in the pan, under the float.
I dried it and washed the filter, because there was a thick layer of fat and oil. The washing machine started.
