Error F57 in a Bosch washing machine
Only owners of modern models equipped with an inverter motor can encounter error F57 with a Bosch machine. This code clearly indicates a problem with the direct drive and urgently requires attention. What is hidden behind the code, where to look for the culprit and how to solve this technical problem?
Where did this code come from?
If washing machines with a belt drive never show “F57,” then modern models with an inverter motor sometimes make this mistake. The reason for the failure lies in a banal power surge, which affects the elements of the system that are sensitive to current changes.. From the outside, the situation looks like this: during washing, the burning indicators on the dashboard dimmed slightly, and after a second they lit up brightly again. But an apparently harmless phenomenon inside the washing machine body greatly affects the electronics, and in the machines produced recently, everything rests on it.
Error F57 indicates a breakdown of the elements of the inverter motor.
Modern washing machines consist of several sensitive electronic units that transmit information from one element to another. At the same time, there is no built-in protection system against power surges, and most users do not connect a special stabilizer to the unit. And if in Europe there are no problems with surges in the network, and the equipment functions normally, then in Russia a second drop leads to problems with the inverter.
The inverter motor is one of the most sensitive elements of the washing machine, and error F57 indicates three possible problems with it:
- burnt out power module;
- loose contacts between power and inverter modules;
- broken inverter module.
It is logical that the situation can be corrected by sequentially checking all the “sore” points on the inverter motor. We will clearly show further how to do this in each case.
Checking and troubleshooting
In case of error F57, the repair involves “ringing through” the power and inverter modules. It is better to start with the latter, since it is he who most often suffers from power surges. We proceed like this:
- disassemble the machine;
- we find the inverter module - the board to which the chips with wires are connected;
- photograph the wiring diagram;
- remove the part.
Next, turn on the multimeter and use it to check the power circuit. First take care of the starting resistor, which burns out 55% of the time. Replacing it will cost several times less, because the cost of a new resistor is about 20-30 cents, while the entire module is estimated at 180-190 dollars.
If you are attentive and careful, you can cope with replacing a module or resistor on your own. It is enough to make sure that the part is faulty, pull it out and solder a new one in its place. But for those who have never worked with electronics, it is better not to experiment and call a service representative.
Reset error
When the inverter module is repaired or completely replaced, one more action must be taken - clearing the error code by rebooting the system. You can cope with this task with your own hands, but only if you strictly follow the instructions. So, we turn on the machine, wait for F57 to appear on the display and start resetting.
- Turn the gear selector to the off position.
- Switch to “Spin”.
- Find the “Drum Speed” button on the dashboard and click on it.
- Continuing to press the button, we turn on the “Drain” program.
- We count to three and release the “Drum revolutions”.
- Immediately turn the knob to the “Super fast 15” mode.
- After 2 seconds, turn off the machine.
After all the manipulations, the system will “forget” about the error and launch the selected program without any problems. If you didn’t succeed in getting rid of F57 the first time, try again without deviating from the instructions given.
