Error F2 in Gorenje washing machine
The error control system in modern household appliances is what makes repairs much faster today. If something happens in the equipment, it will itself inform the user about the problem that has arisen, and will also indicate what exactly is wrong. When error F2 appears in a Gorenje washing machine, you need to pay attention to the amount of water in the tank. Usually this means that after starting the working cycle, the machine started drawing water, but in four minutes the water did not have time to reach the desired level, so an additional set was first launched, and then the program was stopped. Let's look at the reasons for this error and how to solve it.
The mesh on the valve is clogged
Most often, fault code F2 is seen by users whose equipment has a clogged filling system or coarse filter. Due to the fact that the washing machine is connected to the water supply with a hose with a diameter of 19 millimeters, it cannot become completely clogged, which cannot be said about the filter mesh. The filter element very often becomes clogged during operation of the SM, which prevents washing.
To fix the problem yourself, just disconnect the machine from the water supply, remembering to turn off the water tap. Then you need to carefully remove the inlet hose, which may be hampered by lime deposits at the connection point. You should not use force in this action, because it is very important not to damage the plastic valve fitting, which will then have to be replaced.
After dismantling the hose, all you have to do is remove the filter part with pliers and expose it to the powerful pressure of hot water from the tap.If the filter is so clogged that it cannot be washed with water, then leave the mesh in a citric acid solution for several hours. Then install all the elements in their seats and try to run any work cycle to evaluate the repairs made.
Water supply valve does not function
What to do if cleaning the filter did not help? In such a situation, the problem may be hidden in the water supply valve. The fact is that most often the water supply system contains very low-quality hard water, so if the house does not have a special filter, then limescale deposits regularly remain on the fill valve. At first it cannot interfere with washing, but the more it gets, the worse the valve works, which is why at some point it may stop opening. In this case, the water pressure will become weaker and weaker, and at one point the same fault code F2 will appear on the display.
Therefore, in the next step we will disassemble the valve and clean it, which is why “home assistants” often begin to work as they should. You also need to be prepared for the fact that the part has failed, so it will not need cleaning, but a full replacement. To get to the valve, follow our instructions.
- Disconnect the machine from the power supply and water supply.
- Remove the inlet hose from it.
- Using a simple Phillips screwdriver, remove the fasteners securing the washer cover.
- In the place where the filler hose goes, there is a filler valve attached with connected wiring that needs to be disconnected.
Before disconnecting the wires, it is better to take a few photos so that during reassembly you can correctly connect the wiring according to the example.
- Disconnect the pipe from the valve.
- Remove all valve fasteners and remove it from its seat.
Assess the appearance of the valve - if it is in order, but just dirty, then clean it of limescale and other debris. Otherwise, buy the exact same part and install it instead of the old one. Connect all the wires with hoses, replace the SM cover and carry out a test wash.
The instructions may differ slightly if your Gorenje washing machine has an additional plastic plug installed on the water supply valve. Then you will need to remove it by prying it off with a small flathead screwdriver, and then remember to install it on the new valve.
The water level sensor is not working well
If the first two points do not correct the situation, then it is worth studying the pressure switch. The water level sensor monitors the liquid in the washing machine tank and transmits current data to the control module. Thanks to these readings, the module starts drawing water, stops it, starts draining, and so on. The pressure switch looks like a small microcircuit (pressure switch), as well as a small tube in which pressure is created during the collection of liquid. It is as the tube is filled that the current water level is recorded.
That is why when there is no information about the current level, the control module will not be able to understand what to do next. Due to the lack of data about the water in the tank, fault code F2 will be issued. In this case, the pressure switch cannot be repaired - it can only be replaced. How to do this correctly?
- If you haven’t done this before, then disconnect the “home assistant” from all communications.
- Remove the CM cover by first removing the latches.
- Find the water level sensor at the top right of the housing.
- Disconnect the tube from the sensor, remove the chip with wires, and then unscrew the retaining screw to remove the pressure switch.
- Reinstall the new part in place of the old one, and then reassemble the machine to conduct a test.
The water level sensor in Gorenje machines is very easy to replace with your own hands, so you don’t need to call a repairman to do this. The most important thing is to buy a suitable part, for which you can either rewrite the serial number of the washing machine, or take the damaged item to the store as an example.
Electronics are to blame
If all possible causes have been checked, and the machine still does not work and displays the indicated fault code, then the cause is a damaged control module. This is a kind of “brain” of the washing machine, which requires special knowledge and extensive experience in repair to work with. Therefore, we recommend entrusting the work to a service center specialist so as not to accidentally damage the unit even more.
It is good if the control module is partially faulty, for example due to a short circuit. In this case, it can be restored. But if it fails entirely, say, due to frequent sudden changes in the network, then in this case you will have to purchase a new element, the price of which is often comparable to the cost of a new washing machine.
