Error F17 on a Bosch washing machine
Thanks to the self-diagnosis system built into the program of a modern washing machine, you and I can understand which part has failed, what prevents the machine from working normally, why and how to fix the problem. All this is reported by error codes displayed on the machine display. In this article we want to talk about error F17 of the BOSCH washing machine.
Error f17: description and signs of occurrence
If you turn on the machine and do not hear the noise of water being drawn in for a certain time, error F17 will appear on the display. Experts decipher this error as water supply time exceeded.
A similar error can occur not only at the very beginning of washing, but also during it or before rinsing. Some believe that such an error is indirectly related to the washing machine, but we would not jump to such hasty conclusions.
Error F17 in some BOSCH machine models is indicated by code E17.
Reasons for error f17
Why doesn't water flow into the washing machine? The reasons for this are the following:
- the water supply valve is closed;
- water supply filters or pipes are clogged;
- there is no water pressure in the water supply, that is, the water pressure is below 1 bar;
- The water pressure sensor is faulty.
Troubleshooting
What to do when the washing machine shows error e 17? First, check if there is water in the house; perhaps it was simply turned off. Also check if the water supply tap to the washing machine is open; maybe you forgot to open it before starting the machine.
The next thing you need to check is the filters located on the water supply, they are the ones used for rough cleaning. Here's what you need to do:
- Turn off the power to the washing machine and close the water supply tap to the machine.
- Prepare a container for water if there is water left in the hose.
- Unscrew the water supply hose from the water supply branch.
- If there is a mesh at the end, rinse it with water and carefully remove any adhering debris.
- Screw the end to the water pipe branch.
- Now unscrew the second end of the hose that fits the machine and wash the mesh in the hose in the same way. If there is one.
- There may also be a mesh filter in the tube coming out of the machine; this also needs to be washed and dirt removed.
- Screw the hose into place.
Important! If there are instructions describing the location of the strainers, be sure to read them. You do not have to perform unnecessary steps to search for meshes.
If error e17 appears on a Bosch washing machine due to a lack of water pressure in the tap, then you will not be able to solve the problem yourself. In this case, you will have to wait until pressure appears in the water supply, or call a plumber who will find out the cause of the low water pressure in the pipes.
When all of the above steps have been taken, but the machine still shows error f17, all that remains is to check the solenoid valve and water pressure sensor. The serviceability of the valve is checked using a voltmeter by measuring the voltage and resistance of the coil. In order to repair or replace a valve or sensor, you must remove the top cover of the washing machine. The entire process of replacing the sensor is described in detail in the article Replacing the level sensor.
So, error E17 in a Bosch washing machine most often resolves itself by cleaning all inlet filters and pipes. However, if there is a breakdown of the internal parts of the machine, then in this case the help of a professional will be required.
Bosch washing machine screens show E 17 what is the reason
The Bosch washing machine shows E23 on the screen, what is the reason?
Thank you! Helped me figure it out. The dryer did not work, it showed error F17. The drying sensor turned out to be burnt out. Replaced it - it worked.
What if the error is F16? What to do?
