Error F16 in the Atlant washing machine
If you notice error F16 on the Atlant washing machine, you should immediately turn off the power to the equipment. In every second case, this code can be reset by simply rebooting the machine. You must wait 20-30 minutes and turn on the equipment again. If this does not help, then it is not a short-term glitch, but a more serious problem. Let's figure out how to proceed.
Checking NTC
What should I do if trying to restart the machine does not work? Experts do not advise jumping into electronics right away. Error code F16 may indicate a breakdown of the temperature sensor or a loose contact. Therefore, it is recommended to check the thermistor first.
To identify a thermostat malfunction, you need to get close to the sensor. It is located inside the heating element of the Atlant machine. For most models, the heating element is located at the back, in the lower part of the body. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:
- turn off the power to the automatic machine;
- close the shut-off valve that regulates the water supply;
- open the back wall of the washing machine;
- disconnect the wiring from the heating element, remove the contacts from the sensor leading to the external temperature controller;
- remove the heating element from the housing by loosening the fastening screw;
- remove the thermostat from the heating element.
To check the status of the temperature sensor, you will need a multimeter.
The tester must be switched to resistance measurement mode. Next, the probes of the device are attached to the contacts of the thermostat. At 20°C the thermistor resistance should be 6000 ohms. Afterwards, place the temperature sensor in hot water and evaluate how the readings on the multimeter screen change.The resistance should drop and when heated to 50 °C it should be about 1350 Ohms.
If the value on the device display does not change, or is too different from the standard value, we can talk about a malfunction of the thermostat. The temperature sensor cannot be repaired; you will have to install a new, working thermistor. Further assembly of the washing machine is carried out in the reverse order.
Electronic failure
If the reason for the appearance of error F16 on the display was not a short-term failure, or a failed thermistor, you will have to check the control module. In the worst case scenario, you will need to replace the processor and reflash the machine. But such drastic measures are not always necessary.
A visual inspection of the module may not yield results, especially if the parts on it have not been burned out. Probable reasons for the error code output F16 on the display is a violation of the soldering of diodes, resistors and other elements of the main control board. To diagnose and carry out repairs, you will need:
- multimeter;
- soldering iron;
- rosin;
- solder;
- tin.
Without experience working with the electronics of a washing machine and the skills to use a soldering iron, it is better not to attempt independent repair of the control board.
Let's talk about some elements of the main module of the washing machine that you can repair with your own hands.
- A capacitor is a voltage stabilizing component. Its swelling is a direct “symptom” of a breakdown. If it is not visually clear whether the element is working or not, you should test it with a multimeter (1 indicates an open circuit, 0 indicates a short circuit). When installing a working capacitor, it is important to consider that it has polarity.
- Resistors - are checked in two steps, taking into account the order. The first priority elements are resistors with a resistance of 8 Ohms and up to 2 Amperes.Components for 10 Ohms, up to 5 Amperes, belong to the second order group. Replacement is made if the performance of the parts does not meet the standards.
- The thyristor block also often fails due to voltage surges. It is checked only after diagnosing the capacitor. You should set the negative resistance on the multimeter and ring the first order diodes. The voltage reading on the tester screen should exceed 20 V.
Repairing a control board is a difficult task. For users who have never worked with electronics, it is better to abandon the idea of fixing the machine themselves. It is advisable to invite a competent specialist for diagnosis.
