Indesit washing machine displays error F13

If error F13 is displayed on Indesit, it means that the temperature sensor is not working correctly. On machines without a display, the malfunction will be indicated by the blinking of the “Wash Delay”, “Super Wash” and “Extra Rinse” lights. You cannot continue washing in such a situation: in the best case, things will get damaged due to too hot water, in the worst case, the heating element or control board will burn out. It’s better not to take risks, but to immediately start diagnosing the thermistor.

Where is this part installed?

In a washing machine, the thermistor is responsible for heating the water. The sensor records the temperature and adjusts it depending on the selected program. Thanks to electronics, information about degrees is transmitted to the board. As soon as the required level is reached, the processor will respond by turning off the element. If communication with the device is lost, Indesit issues code F13.

The Indesit washing machine displays “F13” if there are problems with the temperature sensor.

As in any machine, in the Indesit washing machine the sensor is located in the heating element, more precisely, between two contacts in a specially designed connector. In appearance, the device resembles an elongated barrel - a cylinder with a diameter of 10 cm. Error F13 is displayed infrequently - the sensor breaks extremely rarely. Sometimes the problem is not with the thermistor, but with the board. In any case, it is necessary to check the device by starting its diagnostics.

Let's take out and test the element

When you see error F13 on the Indesit display, you need to act - check the temperature sensor. To do this, you will have to remove the thermistor from its seat and ring it. Even a “newbie” can cope with the task; the main thing is to follow the instructions and remember safety precautions. We proceed like this:

• disconnect the Indesit washing machine from communications;
• remove the back panel;
• we find the heating element under the washing tub;
• disconnect the wiring from the thermistor;
• remove the thermostat from the connector.

Diagnosis by ringing continues. The instructions for what to do with the multimeter are quite simple: turn it into ohmmeter mode, connect the probes to the sensor contacts and evaluate the resistance. The device should show about 2000 Ohms if the early temperature was 250 degrees.

The thermistor cannot be repaired - only replaced!

The second stage is immersing the thermistor in hot water and then taking measurements. If at a temperature of 500 degrees the sensor resistance drops to 1300 Ohms, then the device is working. Deviation from the norm means a breakdown of the thermostat.

A faulty thermistor cannot be repaired. The situation can only be corrected by replacing it. We buy a similar element, install it in place of the old one and assemble Indesit in the reverse order. If the multimeter confirms that the sensor is working, then the problem is in the electronics. In the case of the board and wiring, it is not recommended to carry out repairs yourself - it is too risky. It is better to contact the service for professional diagnostics of the system.

Signs of a temperature sensor failure

You can guess about problems with the thermistor even before error F13 appears on the display. There are several obvious “symptoms” that indicate heating problems. Among them:

• water heats up to maximum in any mode;
• the body heats up;
• Hot steam comes out of the hatch.

You can reset error F13 yourself.

There is only one reason: Indesit has ceased to control the degree of water heating. Continuing washing in this case is dangerous - the heating element may burn out.
